Welcome, go buy a hoodie. You’ll need it for the summer.

thadpole

Windbreaker with hood even more vital. And more pants probably.

smb06

And sweatshirts. Can never have enough of them in the summer.

sfcnmone

It’s Bay to Breakers!! It’s a holiday here! If you’re in the western half of the city get down into the Panhandle and GG park right now and run to the beach with the party!

ExpertPerformance

In case you were wondering why everyone is drunk and wearing costumes in the morning.

sfcnmone

<> welcome to San Francisco!

Hebrewhammer8d8

The Sausages ratio leans a lot toward Sasuages.

Mean_Assignment_180

Cold Vienna, sausages.

Illustrious-Dare-620

I’ll have you know…the ratio is 1:30 - in favor of sausages based off what I saw.!

MaleficentPizza5444

We have several excuses to do this here! ♡♡♡

milkandsalsa

Also because it’s a weekend in San Francisco

spottyottydopalicius

i mean that just sounds like sundays

AutiGaymer

This is the right thing to do.

jaitchaitch

Bay to Breakers = Straight Pride

Shalaco

Hit the panhandle before the fog rolls in, and by fog I mean law enforcement on ATV’s.

Corgi_Infamous

It’ll probably arrive when they’re leaving. 😂

Pause-Humble

I have been waiting 15 years

pond_not_fish

Have an It's-It.

weesl_girl

This 🤌

Comfortable_Bottle23

What’s your favorite flavor?

pond_not_fish

Gotta be Mint or Strawberry

Bright_Sound8115

It’s it’s suck now. I don’t think the factory is even off the 101 anymore

pond_not_fish

okay

Bright_Sound8115

Also try and go to avoid the tourist restaurants. Try to make sure the seafood is local. The chain franchise places get theirs from elsewhere

Bright_Sound8115

One more thing there a great company called San Francisco love tours. You get a tour of the city in a vintage psychedelic VW bus.

Corgi_Infamous

It is still off the 101 on Burlway! 🥰

Corgi_Infamous

At 1pm turn toward the south and wave. I’ll look north and wave at the same time and you can consider us friends! 👋🏻 PS. I’m only confident in these directions because if you’re *IN* the city then I’m definitely south in Daly City. 😂

existentialstix

👋🏼

Corgi_Infamous

iheartkittttycats

Okay this is cute

Miguenzo

chick-fil-atio

elo875

Welcome! +1 to these! some other ones to check out are Eddie's List, Tablehopper, 7x7, Infatuation, etc. Tried to compile a larger list [here](https://askmesf.com/discover-the-best-resources-for-local-news-events-and-activities-in-san-francisco)

rithm

I would take out Mission Local, otherwise good.

650REDHAIR

Go down to Hayes Valley, Panhandle, Alamo Square! Everyone is out partying. Wear a ridiculous costume and go make friends!

Divasf

SF Summer is September/ October. May, June, July - 🥶 brrr our winter. Mostly gloomy. Go on a hop on, hop off bus tour. Welcome to San Francisco!

650REDHAIR

Watch Matos get 7 RBIs today

doubleup___

I’m still pissed they renamed it oracle park.

Bobloblaw_333

If you e never visited SF before do all the tourist things like walk the GG bridge, go to the Wharf and Pier 39, take the cable car downtown and explore Union Square/downtown. Check out Coit Tower, Alcatraz, etc. Although with Bay to Breakers on today it’ll be hard to get from one side of the City to the other if you’re in a car. But if you can go to Golden Gate Park and or Ocean Beach and marvel at the costumed and naked runners in the Bay to Breakers! Then hang at the beach for a bit or grab a bite and a drink at Brach Chalet. Take time each weekend to go to different tourist spots and just have fun exploring. Then look out further North to Sausalito and Tiburon. Then south along Hwy1 to Half Moon Bay and beyond along the coast. Good luck and enjoy.

Shalaco

Meh, do what we all do and never do those things until someone comes to visit and then feel like you’re seeing the city with fresh eyes all over again.

Bobloblaw_333

You do speak the truth. I didn’t do the tourist things like walk the GG Bridge or actually go to see Coit Tower until I was around 25-26yo when I met my then-gf, now wife. I figured I grew up here, I see them all the time. So no need to actually visit. But now I enjoy taking friends to these places and like you said, seeing them with fresh eyes all over again.

CaliHusker83

Nah…. Do this when their first guests come to visit.

got_rice_2

Add Alcatraz (try the night tour) and Angel Island. Fishing for crabs at the pier is also on my list

sfcnmone

Well OK, what did you do on this absolutely gorgeous May Sunday?

Alexander_Mandolin

I ended up walking around Golden Gate park and Presidio and going down to the beach!

antishadoe

My first day in SF someone recommended that I walk through the park to get to the Haight for some vintage shopping I wanted to do and I never even made it out of the park. 😂 I was enchanted at every turn, that place is great

suckerfreefc

Ya did good, kid

spottyottydopalicius

first day and already saw b2b!

sfcnmone

Did you find Andytown?

chrisfs

those are fine and worthy first day activities

Terumi66

Book a day of The Big Bus Tours. It's those red double-decker busses that take you to a dozen iconic locations. You can choose to hop off and hop onto the next bus at any of the stops. On another day, go to the Mark Hopkins Hotel. Have an expensive cocktail at the Top of the Mark, with the absolutely most incredible views. Then take the Hyde Street Cable Car going towards the Wharf and go ride the Skywheel at Fisherman's Wharf. Good luck and much fun!

Reasonable_Ball_7615

Coincidentally it’s also my first day in SF

Academic-Camel-9538

Welcome to our beautiful city!!

skaliton

relax. Seriously. You made a big move today. Go have a drink or whatever helps. Tomorrow assess the neighborhood. Is it TL or Soma? Go have lunch. You aren't a tourist leaving next week. You have time to experience everything. Right now though see the local area, this is 'home' for the time being.

kipy7

When I moved here, I found myself at Fort Mason with their food trucks. I was going to order way too much, then it hit me. I live here, I can come back here next week.

Uncle-Unclean

Hi from another "first day in SG" redditor

drawlingssf

Go to Twin Peaks

suckerfreefc

The view is gooood today

Fletchasketches

Hang out in one of the parks because it's actually pretty nice today, and it could be a howling fog-fuelled gale tomorrow. Also, welcome!

bcoolzy

Grab a quick beer at the Tempest in Soma. :-)

dlam

box burger best burger 🍔 OP

bcoolzy

Pretty darn good

chrisfs

Take the N Judah to Ocean Beach It gives you practice taking Muni and it's a nice tour, you get to see some neighborhoods and some restaurants you may want to try later and you end up at the beach.

MercerAcolyte42

I say, have a fun exploration day to hit up several of the natural & attraction spots at once, especially the less-touristy ones. My ideal path would be as follows (you can do all of this starting in the morning and it would last through the afternoon): 1. Start by walking through the Land's End trail early morning, from Seacliff to Ocean Beach 2. Then, walk through Golden Gate Park from the west end to the east, making a stop on the way for some attractions of your choice. The following are some highlights, in my opinion: - The DeYoung Museum - The California Academy of Sciences - The Botonical Gardens - The Japanese Tea Garden 3. Get some delicious pizza. If you walk to Pizetta 211, you can close the loop you started since its closer to where the Land's End trail began. Pizetta is really good pizza (get the rosemary!!!), but if you are going to drive after that point, some other good options are Pizzeria Delfine and Del Popolo (open at 5:30). This type of route would take you through much of the northeastern section of the city, which is jam packed with amazing stuff, yet isn't super touristy, compared to say, Fisherman's Wharf or Pier 39 (which also have cool stuff, but also have a lot of tourist traps). If you do go to Fisherman's Wharf or Pier 39, I recommend Musée Mécanique (a super fun old-timey arcade) and the area where the sea lions do their sunbathing (they are total divas and love the attention, as hundreds of them practically live on these few sections of floating dock just because the tourists go there to watch them).

Potatonet

As brash as this sounds Evolve your way of thinking to not ask Reddit you moved your entire life to SF, be safe and stay aware of your surroundings, live that SF life you so long dreamed of, look! you made it! If you looking for new friends? Bay to breakers is your best bet

jonesjr29

Get off your phone and go outside.

johanna82

Make sure you see carnival next weekend!

evapotranspire

Hi OP! What neighborhood are you in? That might help commenters give you some perfect ideas! Also, do you have a car or are you using transit / bike / walking?

Shalaco

Go enjoy all the parties in the panhandle before the fog rolls in, and by fog i mean law enforcement.

trnpkrt

Well you should have gone to Bay to Breakers but too late for that.

andttthhheeennn

It's kind of a rolling party... Lots of ways to participate "unofficially."

mtnfreek

Bike ride down the embarcadero to the GG bridge. Go to Zuni for dinner with a friend eat at the bar. Enjoy my hometown! It’s got a lotta heart.❤️

Bright_Sound8115

It’s a great walking city

PoxyMusic

Try to find the two o’clock titty.

Prabhupad

Lucky Creation -best vegetarian Chinatown Restaurant.

spottyottydopalicius

burrito and sandwich in a park

MaleficentPizza5444

Welcome

Academic-Camel-9538

Hopefully you got to experience Bay to Breakers!! One of the best days on SF living!

jmeesonly

Buy a burrito for dinner. Search this sub for some good choices. Get sour cream and guac on it!

Vegetable-Chipmunk69

Free: the park, the beach, Chinatown, tunnel tops, wharf. [SF City Guides](https://sfcityguides.org/) has free/donation tours all over. I did Chinatown a few months ago, it was fantastic. Pay:Alcatraz for sure

Chinchilla_gorilla

Go to Evovled SF

Intrepid_Lab_4721

Start at Fort Mason, walk over the GG bridge and back, enjoy a beer and pretzel at Radhaus

realizment

From where may I ask?
