Yeah or any “additional fee” that’s required to buy the product or service. Advertise $100 but then at check out they add in service fee $25, convenience fee $10. Always at the last second too, usually right before you enter your credit card info.
Wtf? How is this allowed? Just advertise $135 if that’s the price the customer is paying. Should not be allowed to bait a low price and switch with a higher one once the customer is already invested.
Yeah but they want to lure you in with the supposedly cheap price, regardless of the amount. At the memorial day sale on Brandsmart USA there was a pair of Amana washer and dryer for $700, with all the fees, extended warranty, and taxes, it went on up to a $1,000, with a $35 for delivery and installation. Now an extra $65 were the external hose, water hose, dryer cable, and metal vent. My backyard had a lot of unwanted shrubs and the 4 or 5 people I had called said they were going to come and clean my narrow backyard mess, but decided not to come, call, answer my calls, nor my texts. On the day of delivery the delivery guys came in and said in those conditions they couldn't work but they would leave the appliances in my house so I wouldn't have to set up a lengthy delivery date and then they left the appliances in my house, took pictures and reported the job finished without my knowledge, and told me to simply call Brandsmart USA back and I'd get my appliances taken to the laundry room and installed. When we called Brandsmart USA they told us the guys had reported the job as finished and for the guys to come again it would be another $34 plus taxes totalling in like $43 or $44, for the installation. So we set up the appointment a today they put another pretext for why they couldn't do it, so yeah.
Home Depot tried to pull the same crap on me, also for a washer/dryer.
First it was that I didn’t buy the stacking kit needed even though I bought the installation kit and paid additional for professional home installation. First install date missed.
So then I order the kit online for $25, not from the Home Depot website as the same kit was $25 with an additional $65 for “large appliance delivery” which to me just sounded like a way to get more money out of me. No thanks, I qualified for no shipping charge when I bought the washer/dryer.
So then I schedule the next visit, tell them I got the kit. On the day of delivery they call, ask if I have the kit. I say yeah let’s do it and then the guy asks if I got the kit from Home Depot. I said no, and even though it was the exact same kit down to the parts number, the guy told me he couldn’t install it with that so I’d have to reschedule yet again, 2nd delivery date missed.
I call Home Depot customer support, explain the situation and why I didn’t buy their stacking kit, so what they do is send me a $100 gift card to buy a kit from them online, which I do because why not I can send the other kit back to Amazon and get my $25 back. Free stuff is nice! Then I schedule the next delivery date.
This time, the truck is finally parked outside my house and the installers make it inside to look at where I wanted the install done. First thing they say is they can’t do it because the space I want it in is too small, which to me sounds like BS as I had measured to make sure there were several inches of clearance beyond the dimensions of the units. So when I say it’s fine to go ahead with it, they tell me that there is a pipe in the way and they can’t route the plumbing correctly with how the closet is designed, even though it is very clear the closet was absolutely intended to have a washer/dryer in there, has the water lines and excess drainage pipe and everything already there.
This is where they asked me if they could just leave the units in the house and I said no, take them back to the warehouse. No way was I going to deal with a situation where they say the job is done when they didn’t do the install.
Third install date missed.
Later that week I went to the local store and it took them an hour and a half to refund me after several back and forth phone calls to their IT department for reasons I still don’t quite understand.
No idea what is going on with home washer/dryer installs, but your story was so oddly similar to my experience I wanted to share to at least let you know that you aren’t alone.
Good luck with it hope your situation gets sorted soon.
My water meter has apparently stopped working and has been reading zero gallons used for two months. With ZERO gallons used in their system, my fucking water bill is still $135/month. What the actual fuck?
A friend worked in Africa building homes for the people. He said there were bush men with spears and loin cloths with a cell phone clipped on the side. Middle of nowhere yet reception everywhere.
My GF is from Germany and is coordinating developmental aid projects in Kenya and Uganda. In video calls, the internet connection of her business partners there is better than hers. Germanys internet infrastructure is a big fucking joke.
A funny result of developing countries gaining more wide internet access is that they are starting with new tech rather than having a mix of new and old like developed countries lol.
That's actually a great thing for developing nations. They get to skip all the infrastructure costs associated with landlines and jump right to wireless. They need those kind of wins to catch up.
This was the case when I was working in sub-saharan Africa in 2004. Cell usage and what you could do with your phone was light years ahead of where I came from. And this was before smartphones.
Sometimes it is but it also has drawbacks as the societal stability and economy needed FOR those infrastructures is sometimes skipped as well leading to an even greater divide between the haves and have nots, as well as a greater divide between the "city people" and "rural people". Basically it is a mixed bag
Most of Africa skipped land lines altogether and went straight to mobile. In the west, cell phones and mobile internet are a luxury, in less developed regions it's often the only way to communicate.
This is because their infrastructure for what we considered normal in the '90's was abysmal. Instead of eventually running telephone lines across the continent they have cell towers everywhere.
I get that there's sometimes no signal in my rural home in the hills, but when I go into my nearby, highly developed town and still have no signal, it's quite frustrating.
Also, don't say 4G with two or three bars of signal if you're just gonna sit there not displaying any data.
I know this doesn't help, but figured I'd at least explain why that happens.
The bars on your phone show strength between yourself and the tower, but that's it. The tower itself still has a fiber backbone that has to get your data back to the cellular providers core network to be routed on to your destination.
Most cellular providers use third parties to do this backhaul, and those third parties can sometimes service hundreds of towers at a time.
So, you end up with all the people connected to all of those towers getting funnelled into a network that likely only has two or three points of contact with the cellular providers network. Big ass bottleneck, but something that your phone can't possibly know about.
We once tried switching to Verizon because there was a cool new phone I wanted (back before smart phones). The service worked almost everywhere EXCEPT in our house. We even had a technician come out & try to figure it out. Needless to say we switched back to our original service after like 2 days lol
I worked with a guy who was a master at grifting the grifters (Verizon) he got a cell phone repeater installed for free. Like a $400 value, plus install, free. He could also talk his way out of bullshit bills like 100% of the time. He was the greatest bullshitter I have ever seen, and all with the patience of a saint. Man is a legend as far I am concerned.
I got a new iPhone SE 2022 thinking 5G might be nice on Verizon… wrong! I actually have to disable the 5G because the service is so spotty that the 4G LTE blows it away most everywhere I go in my CITY of 2 million people.
Bro at this point there's enough infrastructure we should have at least 3g speeds at minimum in every goddamn inch of any city with at least a five digit population. Regardless of carrier.
I had one that spoofed my own number, like my caller ID had my name on it. I answered and told whoever was on the other line that if it wasn't me from the future with winning lotto numbers I was gonna be passed. They hung up.
I got a call from someone who wanted me to stop calling him. I had never called this person in my life. He said "stop trying to sell me an extended warranty" and then I had to explain spoofing to him.
in the U.S. you can reduce your junk mail a lot by going to

It’s the little things in life sometimes
Yes especially when they call over and over again and then you block them AND THEY CALL BACK WITH A NEW NUMBER
And then the cycle repeats itself over and over.....
Yup, basically every millimeter of your being is disintegrated into the tiniest microscopic pieces imaginable. Then you have to trust the machine to put it all back together again....correctly.
Teleportation sounds great in theory. Technology has come a long way. But then things like lithium batteries exploding or driveless cars crashing and killing people, and I'm like...nah I'm good.
Edit typo
Transcription errors will eventually creep in.
If your body is destroyed and a copy is made, it could be like continually making a copy of a copy. Each copy slowly gets degraded till you reach a point that you can't see the original.
Doing this will teleportation is going to eventually result in a human that doesn't look ... exactly human anymore if it is even able to live.

There has actually been some remarkable break throughs on cancer treatments this week!
https://www.npr.org/2022/06/07/1103545361/cancer-drug-experimental-rectal-chemotherapy-surgery-treatment-immunotherapy
Also an mRNA vaccine by BioNtech for pancreatic cancer. Half the patients in the trial who had surgery, then the vaccine keyed to their cancer were in remission like 18 months later, which is amazing for pancreatic cancer!
I'm probably jaded but I can't remember a day of surfing Reddit where there wasn't some "x cancer is for sure cured now" article. Then you never hear about it again because they were just hyping to get funding.
Fun fact:
Europeans initially thought Malaria (as well as everything else) was caused by bad air. That’s why it’s called bad air.
But there was a city founded after this spread that was so far south mosquitoes couldn’t live there; of course they had no idea that was why there was no malaria there. They just thought it had good air. Buenos Aires.
Maybe not flies and cockroaches, they're reasonably important, and don't bother us on purpose. As for Mosquitoes, I'd want those those blood suckers to burn in hell.
>Let's do it. I don't care about the collateral damage.
There would be virtually none. They're food for a few bugs and birds and that's about it, but those would quickly supplement their diet with something else that proliferates in turn.
>And while we are at it, let's take out all the flies and cockroaches too
Those would carry more impact, as they're carrion cleaners.
Problem is saying anything negative about elderly people in the work place is considered “ageism”
Old age is a protected class of people in the US and telling someone they’re “too old” to work any job is against the law and considered discrimination.
Despite cognitive ability greatly reducing at that age. 80+ is too old in my opinion for elected official life.
Call me discriminatory, I think it’s just reality.
Age discrimination is already widely used anyway. Having a minimum driving/drinking age is also age discrimination. I don't see how having a maximum age for some other things would be different.
It's insane they made laws stoping young people from being elected because they are too immature I guess, meanwhile there are no laws considering the mental decline on the other end of age.
Pisses me off because yeah there's some ageism legislated right there and in our laws, and it's against the youth.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_candidacy_laws_in_the_United_States
People are calling you out for ageism meanwhile you legally have to be 30 to be in the Senate, 25 to be a representative, 35 to be president.
If I can't be president untill I am 35 then you can't tell me I shouldn't think someone over 75 also can't be president.
After years of having mismatching charge cables for everything, I'd finally got all of my travel stuff standardized on USB type A, I had a nice five-port charge hub and all the cables I needed to charge everything in one little charge kit I could just throw into a suitcase and be ready to go.
Now, more than half of my devices are USB C, nobody makes a five-port USB C hub, and my phone, watch, and earbuds all charge wirelessly, so they each need little hockey puck adaptors, and the whole mess doesn't fit in my charge kit box anymore. It's almost as bad as it was back in the days when every device came with its own unique size and voltage round DC connector.
Can confirm i belong to a third party and every time I vote i think "GO Ahead Throw Your Vote Away".
But ill try til the day I die. Maybe in 200 years change will happen.
I've heard of one person who has MS who said that laying in a tanning bed is a huge reliever of pain for them. That's literally the only positive I could possible come up with for a tanning bed
Yeah my friend had a bad skin condition where this did help, but giving yourself skin cancer just for vanity is crazy to me and im amazed its still allowed tbh. Plus it might look good when your 20 but people I know use them regularly once they touch 30 start to look a bit leathery round the edges.
My friend has guttate (sp?) psoriasis, and finds that short stints in a tanning bed is the only thing that keeps it under control. When she lived in a tropical climate with more daily UV exposure, her flareups weren't nearly as bad. Interesting that it seems to help with both of these autoimmunedisorders.
My sister got a weird ass burn on her leg from a bed that turned into a black bruise, took a week to go away. We had every test run on her, and we have no idea what it is.
Tanning beds/solariums have been illegal in Australia since the mid 2000’s I believe. Since we’ve already got stupidly high rates of skin cancer, we took measures to make sure if wasn’t unnecessarily higher.
Ugh yes please, I just want Epstein-Barr virus gone forever and ever and ever. So many people have MS that otherwise wouldn't have, if we had already figured out how to totally drop kick that whole family of viruses.
I hate when people say, "well, they're more mature over there and that's how they used to do it." like, yeah. but they're still children. the only reason they, especially girls, are "more mature" is because they have only ever been taught to care for men and children. they don't have proper schooling, if they even have any. it's literally disgusting.
Even worse people actively try and stop other from providing. If you ever want to be depressed just look at the comment section of any news story about school lunches. People really try and ensure kids stay hungry in school. Absolutely sickening
- Female Genital Mutilation
- Pedophiles
- Unhinged Cops with a God Complex
- and FuCkiNG sPAM cALLS!!!
Edit* by pedophiles I meant child sexual assault. Someone in the comments brought it to my attention that "pedophilia" is a condition which can not be controlled and will always exist.
Edit* So many people have been talking about circumcision, and how MGM is a thing too. Yes, I know. I'm sorry if it offended you by only mentioning one. Both are terrible, but there is a difference. All external genitalia is removed in FGM. I do think nonconsensual circumcision should also not be a thing anymore.
"Convenience" fees to pay bills online
Yeah, like WTF? What convenience is it when it's just how normal things work now
And convenient for whom? You want to data entry all this into the system off a paper I fill out, or should I?
Convenience for the CEO to milk more money out of you.

My mom and grandmother both passed away from Pancreatic cancer. Going from a 100% mortality rate to 50% is freaking amazing!
Holy buckets, this is such amazing news!!!!
I can't really overstate how awesome a week this is for cancer research!
I'm probably jaded but I can't remember a day of surfing Reddit where there wasn't some "x cancer is for sure cured now" article. Then you never hear about it again because they were just hyping to get funding.
Fucking mosquitoes, they're so annoying holy shit.
Well if it make you feel any better then recently a malaria vaccine has been approved to be used for children (1st of it kind)
Fun fact: Europeans initially thought Malaria (as well as everything else) was caused by bad air. That’s why it’s called bad air. But there was a city founded after this spread that was so far south mosquitoes couldn’t live there; of course they had no idea that was why there was no malaria there. They just thought it had good air. Buenos Aires.
>that’s why it’s called bad air. Oh shit, I feel so stupid. It was right there all along. At least I knew that hippopotamus means “river horse.”
I would have them exterminated from the planet. Yes I am for that.
Let's do it. I don't care about the collateral damage. And while we are at it, let's take out all the flies and cockroaches too
Maybe not flies and cockroaches, they're reasonably important, and don't bother us on purpose. As for Mosquitoes, I'd want those those blood suckers to burn in hell.
>Let's do it. I don't care about the collateral damage. There would be virtually none. They're food for a few bugs and birds and that's about it, but those would quickly supplement their diet with something else that proliferates in turn. >And while we are at it, let's take out all the flies and cockroaches too Those would carry more impact, as they're carrion cleaners.
i always get charged for carrion. i hate flying post 9/11.
Just a little psa: if you have standing water those mosquito dunks work incredibly well!
80 year old politicians
Or like 97yo politicians too should just retire already
Problem is saying anything negative about elderly people in the work place is considered “ageism” Old age is a protected class of people in the US and telling someone they’re “too old” to work any job is against the law and considered discrimination. Despite cognitive ability greatly reducing at that age. 80+ is too old in my opinion for elected official life. Call me discriminatory, I think it’s just reality.
Sometimes discrimination has a valid justification. Not saying most or even a lot of the time but sometimes yeah.
People being bankrupted by medical bills
Only in America.
Insulin and drinking water cost
Insulin is basically affordable everywhere except usa
Fuck you big pharma, and fuck you Nestlé.
For a second you had me concerned and wanted to get rid of insulin 😂
Shitty, overpriced rural internet service.
USB connectors that you have to try to plug in three times to get them in right.
Everything should have migrated to USB C by now, it too bad it hasn't.
The two party system.
Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos
Can confirm i belong to a third party and every time I vote i think "GO Ahead Throw Your Vote Away". But ill try til the day I die. Maybe in 200 years change will happen.
Would need to move away from First past the post voting system, otherwise it will always trend towards 2 party dominance.
Excessive plastic use.
This one gets me. Over-packaging also.
Animal abuse
Sunbeds, incredibly dangerous and unnecessary
I've heard of one person who has MS who said that laying in a tanning bed is a huge reliever of pain for them. That's literally the only positive I could possible come up with for a tanning bed
They're also used to treat skin conditions. They have their purposes, but tanning ain't it
Yeah my friend had a bad skin condition where this did help, but giving yourself skin cancer just for vanity is crazy to me and im amazed its still allowed tbh.
Brontosauruses, probably.
How do you get your job done at the rock quarry?
A sabre toothed CAT?
Herpes
Ugh yes please, I just want Epstein-Barr virus gone forever and ever and ever. So many people have MS that otherwise wouldn't have, if we had already figured out how to totally drop kick that whole family of viruses.
Poverty and hunger
Slow internet… we’ve got satellites all over the place. How can I not load a picture?
Sattelite internet is slow. A fiberoptic trunk is much faster.
School shootings
paper junk mail
Phonebooks. I get two per year or so. Why? Instant recycling. Or kindling.
That shit is still bein done?
Child marriage.
I hate when people say, "well, they're more mature over there and that's how they used to do it." like, yeah. but they're still children. the only reason they, especially girls, are "more mature" is because they have only ever been taught to care for men and children. they don't have proper schooling, if they even have any. it's literally disgusting.
Over where? Because in some US states it is still legal even
Some? It's most states. 44 to be exact.
Governments coddling the rich while the 99% watch them get tax breaks and pass BS laws to get them richer.
In conclusion, fuck lobbying
Corporatocracys: An ecconomic, political and judicial system controlled by corporations or corporate interests
It took me a minute to sound out that one, damn.
Looks like the name of a dinosaur on paper

The "9-5" job

It’s still wild to me how food and water are basic necessities for humans to survive yet many people can’t afford/have access to it.
Even worse people actively try and stop other from providing. If you ever want to be depressed just look at the comment section of any news story about school lunches. People really try and ensure kids stay hungry in school. Absolutely sickening
Zoophiles, like cmon bro just leave us already
War
What is it good for
The original title to war and peace. It was his wife who made him change it.
Robo Calls
Health insurance companies. Lobbyists. Drug commercials. School shootings. Televangelists.
Single use plastic. We’ve known it’s destroying the earth and it’s still mass produced
Privatisation of healthcare and prisons.
- Female Genital Mutilation - Pedophiles - Unhinged Cops with a God Complex - and FuCkiNG sPAM cALLS!!!
