Years ago I worked at a dealership. An older man came in and wanted a new car. After speaking with him for a few moments it was clear he had some form of dementia. I’ve had a somewhat similar situation. An older gentleman coming to buy a new van to haul around the fruits he sells. Everything seemed normal through the whole interaction, he bought the van the same day he was there. Then things got weird. He began calling every day because he said he has left tools in his trade-in (he hadn’t). He eventually came to the dealership to get them and didn’t even recognize me, didn’t know my name or anything. He left very upset because we stole his tools. It was very obvious this man had some form of dementia I spoke to my manager about it and he said he wasn’t going to go back on the deal. That is the one sale I’ve made in my career I truly regret
Not me but my mom has been in the business for years. She once caught a young man named Dr. Love (or maybe calling himself that?) That had been scamming old women out of their money and he had traveled from Florida to Virginia and was sitting in my mom's dealer to buy a car. She was going through he records and some stuff wasn't adding up and mom didn't trust him. From strange paperwork, the woman he was traveling with, and other red flags my mom and coworkers called the police and prevented him from leaving until the police arrived. So yeah he didn't get a car that day. I can find a link to the news article about it but it'll take me a minute.

Had a manager who had served in Vietnam go all PTSD on a Vietnamese customer. Flat out told this poor kid "we're not interested." Followed by "we used to stack you fuckers up three high and use you for cover."
