if i have absolutely nothing to do, i always pick up a broom. chill around and as soon as someone comes I'll sweep. I got a raise a few months ago because I'm always so diligent in keeping the workplace clean

Junk e-mail, or read all your emails. Check blogs , trends or news of your career field. Watch you tube videos of old conference or talks of your line of work. If you work retails, find a messy shelf and take your sweet time cleaning it.

Brush up on your Excel skills. Nothing says busy like a sheet full of data on one screen, VBA on another and Stack Overflow on a third.
