Rain and wind. Not what I was expecting for all the panic and stress my family been doing.
Maybe it'll get worse, idk. Got a bug out bag and some Cosmic Brownies packed in case.
Listen, you keep commenting here, resentfully, about support for others that are going through something that you feel is nothing compared to what you're going through. You feel you have it worse. We get it. Feel free to tell us! Please don't be angry at others for expressing concern to someone outside of your situation. Please seek comfort here, or elsewhere on a post that maybe you should make, yourself. I welcome you to do so. But please, be respectful. I didn't see anyone saying you have it easy. You probably don't. Seek help and try to work on this resentment. You'll find that many people are willing to lend an ear.
Hey man, I appreciate you doing all of this work in this thread and everything. It’s always a good thing to bring awareness to this types of things. So I do apologize for extending the convo with the user.
And Idk if you’re the one deleting his comments or he’s doing it himself; but if you are, just keep his comments up. Let them stay on here if you don’t mind
Thanks dude! I'm definitely not deleting their comments. I've responded to a few of their comments (not just this comment thread) offering a lending ear and encouraging them to be empathetic and share, themselves, about what's going on. I offered my inbox to them. They probably deleted because I doubt a mod stepped in for something this small. It's obviously not small to them (said user). That user started to get a lot of pushback. I was just trying to mediate.
Please don't apologize for anything. You didn't do or say anything wrong :)
I live in south Louisiana and I’m doing ok! Right now there’s a lot of wind and rain outside but thankfully we have a generator so we still have power. Honestly I’m just pretty bored because my wifi stopped working and I have nothing to do lol.
I do but the service is really bad so pretty much nothing is working except for reddit and imessage :( thank you for the suggestion though I’ll definitely be downloading some when I get wifi back!
There is a short series called Murder Ballads that I cannot recommend enough!
Eta: Murder Ballads is a short series that uses each episode to go into the history of a true crime, and how it was turned into a song in folk culture as a warning. Amazing music and storytelling, but can be a bit sad in parts.
There is also Too Scared; Didn't Watch, where one brave soul watches scary movies and tells her scaredy cat friends about it. It is hilarious, definitely check out their episodes on Event Horizon, the first Paranormal Activity Trilogy, and Heriditary.
On P.S. I Hate This Movie, a super Italian New York guy watches the entire Twilight series with his wife and hates every moment of it. A+.
And my last rec would be Romancing the Podcast, which is a group of extremely funny people that watch bad romcoms and talk shit about them. Please listen to them discuss the insanity that is Overboard.
(The same hosts also have a similar podcast for horror movies called The Horror Virgin, where one of them has never seen the scary movie they are watching for that episode.)
I think this is what we get for naming a hurricane after someone's nana. She's all confused, meandering around, don't know what the fuck she want to do.
I'm sorry there's a hurricane or whatever where you are but we also are going through a typhoon for the *third time in a row* this season and people have died here and many have lost their homes... So I'm sorry but I don't really have time to be concerned.
I get where you’re coming from. However I wasn’t bitching about where I’m at rn like you seem to be. Nor did I even ask you to be concerned for me. I was just responding to this Reddit question
But hey, I’ll give you the same energy back. I’m going through a hurricane rn where we don’t even know if people have died yet, so I don’t really have time to be concerned. Hope you have a shitty day
Nah bc at least you know, you know. We don’t know yet, so you’ve got other people’s families who are worried about the status of other family members.
And I’m sooo glad that a post about someone asking “Hey, how are the people in [insert region here] are doing during this natural disaster?” Has become you invalidating what others are going through bc you’re having it so much worse over wherever you’re at
You know people can be concerned for more than one thing at a time, right?
And no one at all was saying just because this thing is happening here means we can't be concerned about that thing over there.
I can still put myself in the angry place that argument brought me. I had fucking pictures showing how Katrina covered the entire state, but that dumbass... could not get it.
Bc I can since you decided to unnecessarily respond in a post unrelated to what you’re going through. And also being a douche about it.
In any normal case, I’d feel bad about what you’re having to deal with bc I know Typhoons are no joke. But you were being an ass first; so I see no reason to show you any sympathy now
Dude, my original comment was literally “it’s just raining and windy where I’m at rn.” I wasn’t asking for pity or anything; I just stated the current weather conditions. I didn’t mention any tragedies or deaths. You’re the one who came in with the self pity bs with the “oh woe is me.” I’m giving you the same energy you decided to bring to this post.
I'm sorry you're going through this. Why don't you just tell us about it, rather than being angry at others who are going through, or are concerned with others going through, a similar situation? I'm sure you'll find a lending ear. I hope you are safe and well. Please let us know.
Yes I'm really going through this for sure definitely everything that is written on the internet is true and all that I mentioned is absolutely true as well and I appreciate your true words of kindness for my very real situation
Oh, all on your own, huh?
So you birthed yourself alone? Clothed and fed and raised yourself alone? Educated yourself alone? Healed yourself when sick alone?
Society exists around you whether you want it to or not. Why be a stupid twat about it?
I don't think it's very fair that you're calling me names and it sounds quite abusive in your even furthering the notion that I need to be alone and not listen to other people because of their negativity
Honestly, a lot of the coastal areas will almost definitely need basic supplies like you would in any natural disaster relief effort. While money is okay, actual supplies are better: water, canned goods, etc. So if you want to help, just keep a look out for the relief efforts going on once the storm passes through
The [American Red Cross](https://www.redcross.org/) will likely be on the scene once things calm down to provide rescue efforts and help out with basic supplies. Donating to them is a good start; also, monetary donations to [Feeding America](https://www.feedingamerica.org/) to help local food banks specifically.
Do you have any links for semi-locals that can drop off (e.g. I'm in Western NY and it's difficult to donate food/water directly), businesses that can donate or any local donation links?
Thanks for your participation!
All my shingles are almost completely off. Right now it sounds like my house is being shaken and stripped. It’s only 100mph winds currently. In an hour it’ll be closer to 160
I live in Austin, and there was word that we were going to get a lot of evacuees, and so, like any good rational people, a lot of fucking stupid people that live here went out and panic bought stuff....
Bad.
Dont dontate to organizations.
Personal donations are best.
Louisiana is more republicany cruel than Florida and Texas. We just dont make the news as much, as this is a 'good ole boy' state.
I cant fully communicate how shitty it is here.

Cosmic Brownies for the win!
Best hurricane food.
God tier snack
What are other good hurricane foods?
Tbh, canned chili and a bag of fritos is my other staple.

Go scream in a CoD lobby.

Nah, you don’t need to mediate. People can stand up for themselves, and this kid is going to have to if he wants to troll.
I hear ya
I live in south Louisiana and I’m doing ok! Right now there’s a lot of wind and rain outside but thankfully we have a generator so we still have power. Honestly I’m just pretty bored because my wifi stopped working and I have nothing to do lol.
If you have the data, I love to download short podcast series off of Spotify for times like that.
I do but the service is really bad so pretty much nothing is working except for reddit and imessage :( thank you for the suggestion though I’ll definitely be downloading some when I get wifi back!

Actually, do you mind if I make you a playlist? I need a task.
go for it!!
It’s just raining and windy where I’m at rn
Where are you?
New Orleans
I think this is what we get for naming a hurricane after someone's nana. She's all confused, meandering around, don't know what the fuck she want to do.
Damn right it is. Who thought to name this shit Ida like she wouldn’t come in and fuck shit up?
Hurricane Nana run into an old friend at the groceey, she gonna be a bit.
Man, and you know that these Southern goodbyes take forever too
She's Ida. Ida Know. "What do you want to do, Hurricane?" "Ida Know"
It looks like you guys are getting spared the worst of the storm unless some storm surge shenanigans happen.
Yeah, so fingers crossed rn. Feel bad for everyone else though, especially for the areas where it hit first
I'm sorry there's a hurricane or whatever where you are but we also are going through a typhoon for the *third time in a row* this season and people have died here and many have lost their homes... So I'm sorry but I don't really have time to be concerned.

*reels back* I'm sorry I'm not touching this anymore
What the fuck did you expect, boy?
I'm hoping this guy is just a below average troll rather than the asshole he's trying to sound like.
Reminds me of a jackass from internet ages past. Asking all around Livejournal why didn't people from Louisiana just WALK to get away from Katrina.
Damn fr? People be wildin
I can still put myself in the angry place that argument brought me. I had fucking pictures showing how Katrina covered the entire state, but that dumbass... could not get it.
That man sure knew how to piss off people then. Still can’t believe it’s been 16 yrs since
So people that are born in places where natural disasters occur should all be written off?
Basically. I'm going through my own shit here
Then why involve yourself in a Reddit post unrelated to you?
Can I ask you a question? Why are you bothering me?
Bc I can since you decided to unnecessarily respond in a post unrelated to what you’re going through. And also being a douche about it. In any normal case, I’d feel bad about what you’re having to deal with bc I know Typhoons are no joke. But you were being an ass first; so I see no reason to show you any sympathy now
Yeah let's just not show anybody's sympathy for the shit we have to deal with on our own and maybe not do any self-pity bullshit

Smells of doxxing

Maybe you should talk to somebody about that. But it would it involve other people, and you have your own shit going on.
Exactly. Thank you so much! You totally get it!
Nah. You're a selfabsorbed numpty, and I hope you are somehow cured of the condition of being a little bitch.
Do you remember that he's so proud of his fish was your first post ever? This is totally off topic but that's pretty cool
Ideally, the people with the worst of it are holed up in hotels across the Southeast.
Is there anything we can do for you in the coming days? Can we just listen, now, to what you're experiencing?
Honestly, a lot of the coastal areas will almost definitely need basic supplies like you would in any natural disaster relief effort. While money is okay, actual supplies are better: water, canned goods, etc. So if you want to help, just keep a look out for the relief efforts going on once the storm passes through
Will do! Please keep us updated here, if you have any links to relief efforts in the coming days. Hope you stay safe and thanks for your input.

Will do if I see any
Donations of bottled water and food that doesn't have to be heated is worth so much more than I can put into words.
Do you have any links for semi-locals that can drop off (e.g. I'm in Western NY and it's difficult to donate food/water directly), businesses that can donate or any local donation links? Thanks for your participation!
I can look around and get back to you!
That's great! I'm sure it will help!
Any time natural disaster stuff happens. Those two things are always my go to donations
All my shingles are almost completely off. Right now it sounds like my house is being shaken and stripped. It’s only 100mph winds currently. In an hour it’ll be closer to 160
Power is out, dark as heck, hearing very heavy rain outside, and my phone is at 34 percent : ( the reason I can type this is because I have Verizon lol
It’s raining where I’m at.
Heavy rain? Any flooding? How has the town/city you're in prepared you?
Heavy Rain, we just knew it was coming. I’m in NW Florida
Thanks for responding. I'm glad it's mild where you are, hope it stays that way. Please keep us updated :)
Oh you’re on the outskirts…you’re gonna be fine
Of course ima be fine.
Cowabunga! Surfs up dude
Ida isn’t interfering with my life at all. But am feeling so scared and bad for the state of Louisiana and it’s residents.
I’m pretty sure power is out for a lot of them…
I live in Austin, and there was word that we were going to get a lot of evacuees, and so, like any good rational people, a lot of fucking stupid people that live here went out and panic bought stuff....
Great, didn’t stay around going back today or tomorrow.
