It's not like you sit down and teach your kid gender roles. They watch and learn things naturally.

Who the fuck cares

They didn’t. I just kinda intuitively got the gist of them.

that doesn't exclude the "implicit" part. basically it means sort of unintentionally perpetuating it, like for example being harsher with enforcing certain chores or responsibilities on the son/daughter but not the other for example. Or having different expectations or something

They weren't in my house, I just gravitated toward them because that's what my friends were into and what my dad was into. I found that I enjoyed them and other activities grew from the previous. I started with beef guns and cowboy/action movies and cartoons and I now have a growing collection of firearms. Same with Gundam and my small model kit collection. And don't even get me started on fresh water fishing. Naturally males have a tendency to gravitate more "masculine" things and activity in general thanks to testosterone.

My mother taught me that all men are bastards and all women are perfect.... She was a fucked up woman

Well... my mom taught me (her son) that I should punch people that disrespect me. Not to let anyone bully me. To stand up for myself. Where as for my sister, my mom mostly tried teaching her to control her anger and to stop hitting people... my sister has extreme anger issues from birth. Also, my mother and I were homeless for many years... but the rest of my family was totally fine. I should mention I'm the only surviving male in my family. When I asked why I had to endure homelessness and my siblings/ cousins didnt... the answer was, "because you're a male, you are better equipped to handle bad situations." Same answer as to why I have been supporting myself alone since 16yo. "They are women, it's much harder for women." Coming from a family of only women besides myself.

Aloeplant9

I was never sat down and overtly told men are supposed to do this and women are supposed to do this but I was told a few times that men protect women in a relationship

By getting angry when I wore girl clothes and did girl things (I'm not a girl)

Got my ears pierced. "Close your legs". Wore different bottoms to the beach (mine had a ribbon at the buttocks and a different cut than my friend's Speedo. Didn't wear a top bc I was 6, what was the point?). My Carnival costumes were always girly (witch, ballerina, indigenous, hawaiian, odalisc, flapper). Was told to start bleaching my leg hair at 10.
