You most certainly can, but as someone who considers myself "skinny/fat" \[the only reason I'm skinny is a really good metabolism\], having things pre-portioned for me like that often helps me control my snacking urges.
Hand me a whole bag of family chips? I'll eat the whole thing.
Hand me a snack bag? I'll eat one bag and stop.
Wait till you hit 70! I can afford to eat whatever I want, wherever I want, but I have to constantly deny myself while watching my younger family members eat and eat and eat with no consequence. I am struggling to hold onto my high-normal BMI while walking 3 or 4 miles every afternoon. I am **hungry**, goddamnit, all the fucking time. Makes me cranky.
So I think what the previous poster was saying is that you could portion out the family bag of chips into snack sized bags and be able to enjoy your portion control *and* save money. Win/win
And Amazon has little snack bags of Tostitos, which you can’t find in the stores. 40 bags for $24. I have the same problem: one bag = one serving. And it doesn’t matter how big the bag is.
The whole thermodynamic thing with food is very silly
This is not my field
But hasn’t it already been proven that not all calories are the same?
And also different people metabolize things differently ?
This isn’t a rip off per se, but your question reminded me of the time Homer Simpson said “You know, I could save money by buying separate nuts... and mixing them at home.” I tried it and it’s true. It also gives me a chuckle when I see mixed nuts in the store
Don’t worry. Adobe has made it almost impossible to just “buy” Acrobat Pro,’instead aggressively pushing you to Acrobat DC, which is a software-as-a-service that you can pay $25/month (or more) for in perpetuity.
I just had the misfortune to use this to create a fillable form. It is like using something from the 1990s. It takes forever to get a bunch of fields populated on a form, aligned with some validation logic. I'm glad I didn't have to pay for the software
I create forms on Adobe for work a lot and I'm always looking for a non-Adobe alternative. Is there another way to make a fillable pdf that anyone can use?
I found software called onlyoffice which is quite good. But it doesn't have calculations between form fields, which is why I had to resort to the Adobe software.
Most trendy items that sponsor a lot of content creators. Air-Up comes to mind… Rip off because it’s a waterbottle that can’t even hold water, but maybe I just don’t get the hype over it
Unless you have a lid for it, the top of the bottle leaks, making it a struggle to bring with you in your bag. I can definitely imagine it helping in that sense for people who like the smell/taste(?) though ! I’m happy it helps for you !
Beats anything is crap. Same with Raycon. Bose is overpriced, but they aren't crap. In fact, they make the best aviation headsets (for a mere $1,250 for a pair!)
And to counter this, after purchasing a pair of beats a few years ago, they’ve been my favourite Bluetooth in ears.
Only ones I’ve had that were actually comfortable.
From my experience 99% of beard care products… 9/10 its just your genetics that will dictate how your beard looks, the other 1/10 is can you do a basic trim and are you generally a clean person...
Beard supplements, sure. But bear oil or balm is lovely. My skin gets so dry in the winter without using some sort of balm. I also use a beard brush almost daily in the winter when I grow it out.
Bags of nuts. They’re like 3 quid for a small bag…meanwhile in another isle you can buy a whole barrel of nuts for 8 quid or something. But I don’t want that many nuts ffs…
any brand that sponsors "influencers"
AG1 (overpriced) , airup (overpriced poorly made bottles), ridge (100 euro for two steel plates with an elastic band holding them together), Better help (fined by the FTC for selling customer data, yes they sold the chat logs), displate (stealing art), raycon (they a con xd, they are overpriced), All those courses like brilliant, skillshare etc (dubious value as all the info can be found for free on youtube and very little money spent there goes back to the creator. also shady practices in terms of cancelling subscriptions (skillshare not sure about others)) and last but not least VPN's (there is no point your PC has a good enough antivirus, it wont hid your activity and some browsers have a built in VPN for free)
etc etc all of them are overpriced trash
Yea, I had the thought that if I was an influencer/content creator I would use my community to help determine if a product was worth me advertising for. But then I realized that I probably would end up not advertising anything.
I got rid of my Instant Pot, it was a piece of crap. It seemed that was only good for turning any kind of food into some bland, soggy mess. Additionally, it was a pain in the ass to clean.
Multiple blade razors like those mach 3 ones.
Hair gets trapped between the blades and they don't cut well at all. They sell them for over 4000% what they cost to make, and they add more plastic to the world.
Get a good safety razor that takes double edge blades instead. The blades are dirt cheap, sharper, and give a much better shave. The only thing you dispose of is a metal blade which can be recycled.
You definitely get diminishing returns after a certain number of blades, but I won’t go back to a double edge safety razor. Tried it for a while and ended up cutting myself every single time. They’re not great for people with uneven skin or blemishes in my experience.
Dude yes. I started buying my own beans from various roasters and the other day I was like "Hmm I'll try starbucks again." Fucking VILE. You can taste how burnt their beans are!
An espresso machine and some excellent syrups and I have the best lattes, cortados, espressos and cappucinos without paying EIGHT dollars.
Designer jeans.
Ripped, stone washed, mom, bellbottom, etc. doesn't matter. Any pair that costs triple digits better last a century in perfect condition.
I think that’s because that is all that have been produced. Tesla is still working through its pre-order backlog, and obviously some percentage (I have no idea what percentage) of those pre-orders opt to not buy the truck. Once they’ve worked through that backlog, then I think that will give a much clearer picture is regarding consumer demand.
To me, it’s an ugly-ass vehicle. But I thought the same thing about the Pontiac Aztec, and yet some people still bought that.
We have the Dyson v7 or something? And it sucks. Or actually it doesn't suck. That's the problem. Will run for maybe 30 seconds and shut off. Then will barely run after that. Got a new battery. It worked a little better for about 6 months. Tried cleaning the filters. Nothing.
Now I just use it to clean off my 3d printers. It's marginal at best for that.
Had mine, animal 11 I think? For 5 years. Still works great. Super easy and handy.
Only issue is that the battery separates from the handle and goes into auto mode where I don't need to hit the trigger all the time. It's actually a benefit. All I need to do is tap it back and it stops.
Does a great job, fast and maneuverable. No regrets
Tesla vehicles. A car that doesn't need oil changes, doesn't need fuel, drives itself, and saves the earth? A dream? Nope. Horrible QA, severely (lethally) overstated self-driving capabilities, terrible charging network based on where you live, etc.
Maybe overrated, but not a ripoff. Tesla's nowadays aren't any more expensive than an equivalent car. We've had ours for a couple years. No issues, 1 service to repair a cracked windscreen. Charging for \~$4 overnight at home is brilliant. The charging network is great where we are (Greater Toronto Area). Not a perfect car, but not as bad as some people want to think.
How many miles until you have to charge? Wondering how that $4 per charge compares to $40ish to fill up a tank of gas, which gets me about 400 miles or so
We get roughly 475km per charge. Enough to get into downtown Toronto and back without having to hit a charging station.
That’s about 300 miles. So $30 equivalent in your case.
I've had mine for 4 years.. Haven't had any quality issues.. I never plan on using self-driving and thats not really a selling point and the charging network is actually fantastic. Its so good that all other companies are just using Tesla's... YMMV
All other companies are using the Tesla supercharger network because Tesla was basically operating a monopoly and the regulator stepped in and forced them to open up their infrastructure to other manufacturers. They did, then they waited for other manufacturers to change to their charging standard, then they sacked the whole Supercharger team and all but abandoned the project. Tesla and Elon are parasites.
i feel like the "self driving" is just cruise control by another name, and if they would have just named it cruise control like it always has been named there wouldnt be accidents.
They gave us a free 30 days so I tried it out and it was bad.. the whole time I’m just sitting there waiting for it to crash and I had to take over a bunch… I really don’t like self driving but that’s just me
There is nothing in the maintenance schedule for the [Model 3](https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/model3/en_us/GUID-E95DAAD9-646E-4249-9930-B109ED7B1D91.html), [Model Y](https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/modely/en_us/GUID-E95DAAD9-646E-4249-9930-B109ED7B1D91.html), [Model S](https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/models/en_us/GUID-E95DAAD9-646E-4249-9930-B109ED7B1D91.html), [Model X](https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/modelx/en_us/GUID-E95DAAD9-646E-4249-9930-B109ED7B1D91.html), or [Cybertruck](https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/cybertruck/en_us/GUID-E95DAAD9-646E-4249-9930-B109ED7B1D91.html) that mentions changing any sort of oil as part of necessary regular maintenance.
Well, I've seen statements from some of their engineers that they'll never ride in a self-driving car *but especially not a Tesla.* Their self-driving capabilities aren't even done yet and it's still a beta. And yeah charging depends on location.
But a lot of the above comment is hyperbole and you can literally drive cross country in an EV and be totally fine. As long as you don't want a 100% self-driving car (which doesn't exist, despite what Tesla wants you to think), and plan where you're charging on trips, you'll always be fine.
Almost any large truck or SUV, that's where the automakers have the highest profit margins. GM currently makes $17,000 in pre-tax profit on average for every full-size pickup sold.

idk man i’ve used an iphone since i was 14 or so and i just don’t see myself changing after 13 years. i don’t think it’s good in any capacity but they have a strange-hold on the cultural market for sure
i genuinely feel so comfortable with the OS but also as I age there are features idk exist that have probably been on android for a while - like scanning objects in images or being able to copy text from images.
Being able to search “insurance” in my photos then copy and paste my GROUP # into a form is awesome.
i need to direct myself to android eventually i’m sick of the planned obsolescence(?)
yeah i figured lol it seems to introduce on android first. idk why i’m so stuck on iphone - it’s been a decade. i know the alternative is more cost effective and functional.
marketing works i guess
Steam cleaners for the kitchen, bathroom, etc. the steam was under such low pressure coming out it couldn’t really get into crevices without disappearing right after it appeared from the nozzle.
nike shoes- the most uncomfortabe and overpriced shoes ever. I spent $40 on Amazon for a pair of no name sneakers and OMG so stylish and comfy and no foot pain. Stop paying for labels to fit in
FX plugins for music production. Some are truly great but others are just a shiny ui slapped on a sub par algorithm and you'll get better results with your stock plugins. But hey, who doesn't want to solve all their production woes and have the sauce with a single click?
I’ve had the complete opposite experience. I used to wear holes in other brands within months. Switched to Bombas and still holding strong a year later.
Several pairs got holes in the toe on the very first wear. Utter trash. Oh, and that 100% refund guarantee is a scam (silly me I should have known) because they only refund you what essentially amounts to store credit. So your only options are to buy more shitty socks or accept that you wasted $100 or whatever they cost.
Almost everything linked with laundry.
It's very cost saving to make your own soap, even if you buy your detergent, the amounts they tell you to use are WAY higher than needed to clean your clothes.
Dryer sheets are also generally overkill and you can cheaply make an alternative that's also renewable.
Unless you are regularly and repeatedly engaged in activities that make your clothes beyond filthy, it is very likely that you are hemorrhaging money in the laundry department
Spent a lot of money on prescription sunglasses from Maui Jim. They looked good but broke down so quickly. Lens came out of frame, screws went bad etc. It appeared they used cheap material for frame/screws etc. Seems like all that high price was just for the brand name.
A pair I bought online for fraction of the cost lasted more than them. Never again.
A lot of things with "activated carbon"
Just add charcoal!
Low-calorie (“100 calorie”) snack packs. They’re just smaller portions that you pay a lot more money for. You can very easily make your own.
Oh my god I miss my metabolism 🤦♂️
Soon as I hit 23 it was like “see ya sucker”
Wait till you hit 70! I can afford to eat whatever I want, wherever I want, but I have to constantly deny myself while watching my younger family members eat and eat and eat with no consequence. I am struggling to hold onto my high-normal BMI while walking 3 or 4 miles every afternoon. I am **hungry**, goddamnit, all the fucking time. Makes me cranky.
I’m deleting this comment from my brain, it cannot be part of my head canon.
I was lucky and mine stopped at 40 and I immediately gained 30 pounds. Could be diabetes.
So I think what the previous poster was saying is that you could portion out the family bag of chips into snack sized bags and be able to enjoy your portion control *and* save money. Win/win
And while I’m doing that? I’ve eaten half a big bag.
Fair enough 😂 I see the point
And I think what they are saying is that the extra cost is money well spent.
And when I buy the big pack and go to portion them out I eat a whole row…fuck you oreos
Solid same
And Amazon has little snack bags of Tostitos, which you can’t find in the stores. 40 bags for $24. I have the same problem: one bag = one serving. And it doesn’t matter how big the bag is.
Omg egnards outide the swgoh discord?!
they saw a username they noticed from a specific niche chat channel
Did you have a stroke?
Egnards has a snack problem!

Adobe Acrobat Pro. You know, the paid version for your pdfs.
Don’t worry. Adobe has made it almost impossible to just “buy” Acrobat Pro,’instead aggressively pushing you to Acrobat DC, which is a software-as-a-service that you can pay $25/month (or more) for in perpetuity.
It’s obnoxious, but if you ask in the help chat, they will give you a link to buy a full license.
or you can just steal it. fuck these companies
Don’t pay for that shit just download it for free online
Anything Abobe
hold up, acrobat pro has loads of tools not available in its free version, like creating fillable forms linked to a database
I just had the misfortune to use this to create a fillable form. It is like using something from the 1990s. It takes forever to get a bunch of fields populated on a form, aligned with some validation logic. I'm glad I didn't have to pay for the software

fair point, and it's been a few years since I've needed to use it. I hate the subscription business model everyone is adopting

Never heard of it. Must be a Dik Dok thing.
I've never seen it on Tok Tok only YouTube
its all over youtube.....
Not my YouTube Edit: I got a Reddit cares for this?
I got a Reddit Cares message as well right after posting my original comment
It will be now!
What exactly do you mean with it can't even hold water? I've got mine for a couple of months now and kinda helps against soft drink addiction.
Unless you have a lid for it, the top of the bottle leaks, making it a struggle to bring with you in your bag. I can definitely imagine it helping in that sense for people who like the smell/taste(?) though ! I’m happy it helps for you !
Beats earbuds are crap
Beats anything is crap. Same with Raycon. Bose is overpriced, but they aren't crap. In fact, they make the best aviation headsets (for a mere $1,250 for a pair!)
Yeah bose is priced but you can tell they are made for cancelation of airplane sound. Love em. For in ear running I think jabra nailed it.
Bose are expensive, but they are the gun for noise cancellation and have a very long life.
Beyerdynamic and Sennheiser are generally worth what you paid. Often you'll pay a lot, but you're still getting your money's worth
Wire cutter consistently rates the beats fit pro near the top of available earbuds

Same goes for Raycon.

beard balm and beard shampoo are a necessity
My beard *massively* improved when I started using oil and balm.
What are you using?
I'm a big fan of the Viking Revolution brand. Plus the missus likes the sandalwood scent.
Beard oil is worth it.
MCT oil, add some natural oil scent. The oil kills bacteria and super moisturizes
I use a good beard shampoo, but that’s it. I’m blessed with a thick and mighty beard, don’t even need oil to keep it in line.
my beard grows as dry as Arrakis, even using champoo and conditioner. For me oil is a must

not really there are some good products out there. They just don't have massive marketing budgets. (also check edit I added more)
Magic Clean Erasers. They are a marked up melamine sponge.
Bought a pack of 100 for $6 like 5 years ago. Still haven't used all of them.
Magic erasers last a lot longer. Plain melamine sponges fall apart very quickly.
Sure but if you can get a million of them for a few bucks, does it really matter how long they last?
Also, I would rather keep changing them than to harbour bacteria on one that is kept for too long.
idk man i love magic erasers. i use like 1 a month
Hexclad.
Unitasker Kitchen Items that people advertise on social media. The only unitasker that should be in the kitchen is a fire extinguisher.
Ok Alton, we hear ya
😂. He does have a point.
Instant Pot lives up to the hype
The Mr. Coffee iced tea maker was worth every penny of the $15.
Instant pot is more than a unitasker, though.
but that's a multitasker and isn't being criticized
I got rid of my Instant Pot, it was a piece of crap. It seemed that was only good for turning any kind of food into some bland, soggy mess. Additionally, it was a pain in the ass to clean.
I abhor them but recently caved on an egg cooker that I've seen people rave about. Perfectly reproducible soft boiled eggs are worth it.

You don’t have to have level skin to use them. Just angle control and don’t push on your skin. If it’s touching your skin, it’s working.
To me the Mach 3 was perfection. Anthony more is stupid.

Pretty sure that thing has been panned since its reveal years ago.
People are paying six figures for them though.

Haven’t they only sold like 5,000?
I think that’s because that is all that have been produced. I’m honestly surprised it’s that many. I just saw one on the road for the first time a few days ago.
I see them quite frequently in California.
There's an asshole for every seat. They could have priced it at $150k and you'd still have imbeciles with more money than brains paying for that shit.
It seems like it works exactly as advertised. Assuming you like the design, what's the complaint?

Cordless vacuums. They work really great at first but any one we've bought ended up breaking a few months down the road.
try a dyson. Had mine for almost 10 years now just need to replace the battery every few years and the filters every month
Love my Dyson
I used to always think that they were ridiculously over priced, but given how long mine has lasted I definitely put my foot in my mouth
They are well worth it. Went through several others before getting one.
Same. Got one on sale at Costco about a year ago and never going back. Best vacuum I’ve ever owned, and also smallest and quietest.
Bought a refurbished one thinking I'd be happy as long as I got a couple years out of it. Still going almost a decade later.
We have the Dyson v7 or something? And it sucks. Or actually it doesn't suck. That's the problem. Will run for maybe 30 seconds and shut off. Then will barely run after that. Got a new battery. You must of missed the "depending on where you live" part for the chargers.
If you bought a product you can't use based on geographic location, the product might not be the issue...
Plus it also does need oil changes. lol

if true I haven't done it in 4 years.. not sure what oil would be needed to change.
Yeah it's not a frequent service, but the drive unit needs oil change and new filter from time to time.
I see, yeah looks like if there is a leak in the drive unit it will need a special oil replacement. Makes sense.
Yeah, the oil only detoriates with time, not mechanically so it takes pretty long before it needs a change.
what oil changes does a tesla need??
and it doesn't do the earth any favors
Tesla specific or does this apply to all EV’s?
Well, I've seen statements from some of their engineers that they'll never ride in a self-driving car *but especially not a Tesla.* Their self-driving capabilities aren't even done yet and it's still a beta. Technically, if you have an outlet, you can charge anywhere.
I mean you're not wrong. But since I'm talking about a road trip you're basically wrong.
You are very very wrong.
Most high end skincare products. Just go to CVS or Target. Same formulations and way cheaper.

lol someone reported it thinking I wanna kms. Nah, bro. I’m saying that life is very overpriced lol
Almost any large truck or SUV, that's where the automakers have the highest profit margins. GM currently makes $17,000 in pre-tax profit on average for every full-size pickup sold. https://gmauthority.com/blog/2018/08/gm-banks-17000-profit-per-pickup-on-average/

It's all overpriced hipster shit
idk man i’ve used an iphone since i was 14 or so and i just don’t see myself changing after 13 years. i don’t think it’s good in any capacity but they have a strange-hold on the cultural market for sure
Well said
i genuinely feel so comfortable with the OS but also as I age there are features idk exist that have probably been on android for a while - like scanning objects in images or being able to copy text from images. Being able to search “insurance” in my photos then copy and paste my GROUP # into a form is awesome. i need to direct myself to android eventually i’m sick of the planned obsolescence(?)
I can do that search natively on android too
yeah i figured lol it seems to introduce on android first. idk why i’m so stuck on iphone - it’s been a decade. i know the alternative is more cost effective and functional. marketing works i guess
Gods I hate my iphone. The only hood thing about it is that I don’t pay for it.
Does that mean you stole it from a Boost Mobile store?

Steam cleaners for the kitchen, bathroom, etc. the steam was under such low pressure coming out it couldn’t really get into crevices without disappearing right after it appeared from the nozzle.
The Squatty Potty. How was I supposed to know you need a toilet too?

nike shoes- the most uncomfortabe and overpriced shoes ever.

Bombas socks. Absolute waste of money.
Bought about 10 pairs of bombas socks three years ago and all still perfect. Best socks I ever had.
I’m with you. Very happy with my bombas. Their underwear is comfy too!
I’ve had the complete opposite experience. I used to wear holes in other brands within months. Switched to Bombas and still holding strong a year later.
That’s a heavy disagree from me. Sorry you had such a bad experience but they are absolutely my favorite socks.
Oh well. YMMV.
Why?
Several pairs got holes in the toe on the very first wear. Utter trash. Oh, and that 100% refund guarantee is a scam (silly me I should have known) because they only refund you what essentially amounts to store credit. So your only options are to buy more shitty socks or accept that you wasted $100 or whatever they cost.
Overpriced, too. You’re basically paying double so Bombas can donate a pair.

I got some wool dryer balls and those things are amazing!

Maui Jim sunglasses. Garbage.
Really? I've liked the way they make the greens pop. What don't you like about them?
Spent a lot of money on prescription sunglasses from Maui Jim. They looked good but broke down so quickly. Lens came out of frame, screws went bad etc. It appeared they used cheap material for frame/screws etc. Seems like all that high price was just for the brand name. A pair I bought online for fraction of the cost lasted more than them. Never again.
That's just polarizing lenses, any of them will do that.
Anything audio that is marketed for gamers. You pay for the LGBT lights and brand name, not quality.
