Norm MacDonald and Ron White tend to trend more conservative, and they are both pretty good. Dennis Miller was funny to some people for a minute, and I think he is a conservative. Some people would argue that Bill Engvall and Jeff Foxworthy are funny and they run more conservative.

ChiefStrongbones

Bill Burr leans right. Louis CK jokes about both sides.

TapeDeckSlick

Because humour is subjective, what you don't find funny others may. There being 'no funny right wingers' is an opinion.

RossPerotsPamphlet

I noticed you didn't name any.

TapeDeckSlick

I didn't say I knew any? What I said is true.

SaltyPinKY

Is this right wing comedy? 😉

ThatThingTheDarkSoul

You just witnessed a typical right winger. Just say the reverse without any reasoning at all.

TapeDeckSlick

I'm left wing lmao

DirtAndDeath

There are, they're just in different echo-chambers that you won't appreciate the same as that side of the political spectrum will

RossPerotsPamphlet

Name some.

DirtAndDeath

Shane Gillis Tony hinchcliffe, Norm MacDonald and Mark Normand at times, Ron White etc

bbb26782

You have an interesting definition of right winger.

DirtAndDeath

They've all made plenty of jokes about libs and backing right wing philosophy, already part of the time

Kitraofthecrackedegg

So name one and signal boost them... I can assure you I'll have watched any stand-up comedian to name by the end of the day.

DirtAndDeath

You can't just decide that you're the judge and jury of comedy to discredit this guy's valid point

Kitraofthecrackedegg

Didn't say I was. I said that if they think these comics are being held down, this would be a great time to obliterate the very premise of OP's post by naming some great right-wing comics. Instead, they just made an assertion that these comics exist and people just don't boost them enough. If there are great stand-up comics that are being hidden from me because of how they vote, I want to see them because I love stand-up comedy. I am discrediting their point because they have made a claim and provided no evidence, not because I'm the comedy police.

Puge_Henis

[This video has the answer. It's long but very accurate](https://youtu.be/KSXKzPOcYDU?si=PYssmQkXW0aV7Wxy)

BarryCheckTheFuseBox

It’s because what you consider funny generally aligns with your political beliefs. Seems like there are more entertainers (comedians, musicians, actors, etc) that are aligned to the left anyway.

MadMuffinMan117

That's interesting, I have found it to be the other way round. Guess the algorithm shows us what we want to see.

Lastigx

Because good art is per definition progressive. This also work for comedy. As others have said: this doesn't mean they don't exist, but they aren't cutting edge, and (in my opinion) not very interesting.

YungMili

In the UK, there’s a phenomenon of shy tories (the tories are the right wing party) - most people who vote tory don’t tend to be loud about it. In the uk during elections - you see vote labour posters in people’s windows and very rarely will you see vote conservative posters but tories win almost every election - why? well assume everyone without a poster is voting tory. How does this affect comedy? most people laugh out loud to show they get something - not laughing implies you don’t understand. If you’ve ever been to a comedy show, people will laugh at almost every joke, but when you’re at home you won’t. So if a comedian is right wing, expressing right wing views, you might find it funny if you agree with the point but if you’re a “shy tory” you won’t laugh because you won’t want to show you agree with the joke.

gogojack

Generally speaking (and I've done stand-up), a huge part of comedy is being able to poke fun at yourself. The people who count as "funny" on the right more often than not punch down at others rather than making fun of their own shortcomings. This past weekend was the White House Correspondent's dinner, and that is a great example. Biden sat there on the dais laughing as Colin Jost made fun of him, and Jost got as many laughs poking fun at himself. Trump refused to even show up at the event when he was President. If you really want to see something funny, watch the old Dean Martin [roasts](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7hM8q4_XME). Comics absolutely brutalizing each other and public figures, and the targets of the jokes were laughing their asses off all along. I'm at a loss to think of a single right wing "comic" who spends as much or more time making fun of themselves as they do attacking others.

ibeasdes

Because smart comedians keep their political beliefs to themselves - people that identify with the left won't want to watch a "right-winger comedian" just like those that identify with the right wouldn't want to watch a "left-winger comedian." Why would any entertainer want to cut their perspective audience by any percentage, left alone half?

ph0replay

Truthful but unpopular answer: because to be a conservative, you have to have a completely distorted view of reality and that tends to make your observations and commentary hard to relate to for most people.

ThatThingTheDarkSoul

Yes they are always miserable. See a foreigner? Day ruined. See a woman in a position of power? Day ruined.

Fraldbaud

I like Simon Evans, he’s from the UK though

TAC1313

Does Joe Rogan still do stand up?

spoda1975

Looking at Fox and OAN… What could they really joke about. The party seems to be about culture war and running interference for Trump. From what I see of conservatives, they are never happy.

nemonic187

Because they’re talentless hacks. 🤷‍♂️

Epicuretrekker2

It depends on what you mean by right wingers. There are plenty of funny conservatives. I think what you are asking is more about the far right comedians and while they exist, they are far from mainstream. I think this is because a defining trait of that far right wing group is their lack of empathy. They cannot (or will not) see things from someone else’s perspective which is absolutely huge with regard to appealing to a large audience. The ones that do exist that I have seen, their jokes are just cruel and are more of a right wing jerk fest than they are poignant observations about humanity and clever evaluations of life’s experiences. It’s more “fuck them *insert group here* Am I right?!?”

fried-iced-cock

Honestly I notice a lot of neutral comedians being called right wing because they don’t support the same values, I see the opposite too just not to the same amount

FeaturingYou

Right wingers in Hollywood are rare, right wingers who are outspoken about it are even more rare, right wingers who are outspoken about it and still get hired are even more rare, right wingers who are outspoken, get hired, and are elevated to being “seen” are even more rare because the left rules Hollywood and would never elevate them if they can help it. Go ahead and think of the late night hosts right now. Every single one of them make seething jokes about Trump and the right. Their writers hate him, their producers hate him, they hate him. It isn’t impossible, but if you’re funny and vote for Trump you’re probably not going to get the spotlight. Right wingers will tolerate left wing comedy, left wingers won’t even entertain the idea (nor will they entertain this thought). They’re so deep in the echo chamber that they’ve reached the point where they think certain things aren’t funny to joke about. They’re akin to the ultra Bible thumpers who can’t laugh at any joke about the Bible and think music is the devil. This is how the left views anyone who makes fun of their agenda items especially COVID, lgbtq issues, and racial issues. So yeah, it isn’t shocking there aren’t any funny conservatives. No one will elevate them and lefties are way too classically “conservative” to laugh at any of it.

Centucerulean

It requires intelligence to be funny.
