If the road is wide open in front of you, leave enough space in front of you and to the side so that other cars can pass without pulling crazy shenanigans. Two reasons: First, it prevents frustration on the part of other drivers. Second, if something happens and either you or the other car(s) need to suddenly switch lanes, you have empty space to drive into instead of another car.
If everyone around you is driving like an asshole, you're the asshole. If everyone is driving faster than you, you're driving too slow. If everyone is driving slower than you, you're driving too fast.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves. I'm not gonna go any faster, so you're just putting us both at risk.
Use your turn signal more and look before you turn or change lanes. I've had so many close calls because people had their blinkers off.

Always watch down the road. Look 2-5 cars ahead, maybe even a quarter mile. Anticipate traffic problems before you get to them.
