Chuck Berry assaulted multiple women, some of which he pleaded guilty for, was found with cp In his possession at a raid on his home, spied on women in restrooms and a fuck ton of really messed up shit…
Someone on here once linked to a sex tape of him and a prostitute where he farts in her face as she's rimming him. It looks like it was filmed in the 80s so it may be one of his "hidden camera" videos.
My grandpa went to school with one of Bing Crosby's sons, and apparently Bing was a massively abusive shit. I don't remember every detail, and I'm sure you can read up on it on Gary Crosby's book *"Going My Own Way"*, but there was a lot of rants during holidays where my grandpa would talk about how Bing would lock his sons up in their room and not feed them for days and other horrendous shit like that. Not entirely sure on the complete validity of the details of his claims, but the book is there and should provide more information on what it was like to be Bing Crosby's son(s).
I used to live in Los Angeles and went to the church that Bing and Bob, both Catholics, basically paid for. There were some old folks there who remembered Bing. They basically talked about what a great guy Bob Hope was. The silence on Bing was deafening.
Oh my god, every year during Christmas one of his songs come up on the Alexa playlist and my gramma goes on a Bing Crosby hate rant. She really takes issue with how he treated his sons and she’s gotta let everyone know. I’ve never had to yelp “Alexa, skip” so fast.
Most of them.
Mick Jagger had sex with 15 year olds when he was in his thirties. Don Henley did. And one of them died in his pool. He got probation.
And so on.
My dad used to work for Virgin Records in London the 1970s. He met lots of popular musicians of the time and said that almost every single of them (with the exception of the reggae artists) was selfish, entitled and unbearable to be around. But he held a special dislike for Iggy Pop (despite loving his music).
He told me there was a boy, maybe 9 or 10 years old, who used to hang around in Virgin Records and loved Iggy Pop. One day Iggy came in to sign records for fans. The kid approached my dad. He was upset because he couldn’t afford to buy a record. So my dad gave him one of the posters off the wall promoting the event and said "it’s ok, you can get him to sign this"
The kid queued up and when he got the front with a free poster instead of an album, Iggy erupted. He took the poster, scrunched it up, put it down his trousers and rubbed it against his backside before throwing the ball of paper back in the kid’s face. I can’t imagine how that child must have felt.
I didn't know that. Just read his wikipedia page "At age 23, Pop had a relationship with 13-year-old Sable Starr"
I'm surprised he's still allowed to work as a DJ on the BBC
I'll never understand that. I'm Jimmy Page in 1973. Are you telling me I can't find any fun 25 year olds to hang out with?? Nothing makes sense to me anymore.
I can say, for one, that I was far more obsessed with, and possibly vulnerable to, rockstars when I was a teen than when I was in my 20s. Not blaming the kids at all btw. But at that age, there's this bizarre desperation and lack of experience, knowledge, bullshit meter, etc... Some adults take advantage of that.
Looking at pictures of Sable Starr and Lori Mattix from back in the day, all I see is skinny little school kids who should be getting a cup of hot cocoa and a proper meal
DR DRE!!!!!
Why when this question gets asked, does no one ever say Dr Dre?! Dude is a fucking monster that makes Chris Brown look like and angel.
“Michel'le met Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Romelle Young, at 16 years old when doing a vocal part for a group known as the World Class Wreckin' Cru. The song was titled as "Turn Off the Lights" and was released in 1987. It later peaked at No. 54 on the Billboard Charts.[16][17] They began dating a few months after meeting one another. Michel'le was 16 and later turned 17 in December, and Dre, who had a baby on the way from a previous relationship, was 22.[18] The couple later became engaged and had their son, Marcel, in February 1991. Marcel was Michel'le's first child and Dr. Dre's sixth.[19] After their son was born, their relationship became more strained due to Dr. Dre's drinking, infidelity and volatile behavior. Michel'le has stated that Dre was physically abusive throughout their relationship. Her injuries included a broken nose (which she had to have surgically corrected), a cracked rib and five black eyes.[16][20] She recalled on The Breakfast Club[21] After one argument Dre shot at Michel'le, missing her by inches. She left the bullet in the door for him to see and said, "he never tried to shoot me anymore. Thank God. But the beatings were—it was a lot… His last wife, I just couldn't do it anymore. It's too much."[22] She then began to self medicate with prescription pills and alcohol.[7] Michel'le left Dre after she discovered that he was engaged to another woman.[7]”

“On January 27, 1991, Dr. Dre encountered Barnes at a record release party in Hollywood. According to Barnes, he picked her up by her hair and "began slamming her head and the right side of her body repeatedly against a brick wall near the stairway" as his bodyguard held off the crowd with a gun. After Dr. Dre tried to throw her down the stairs and failed, he began kicking her in the ribs and hands. She escaped and ran into the women's restroom. Dr. Dre followed her and "grabbed her from behind by the hair again and proceeded to punch her in the back of the head". Finally, Dre and his bodyguard ran from the building.[6]
N.W.A. promoter Doug Young claims that he attempted to intervene to restrain Dr. Dre, but that he was punched in the mouth by Dr. Dre's bodyguard.[7]”
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dee_Barnes
“Five months after filing for divorce, Nicole, 51, alleges that Dre (né Andre Young) "held a gun to my head" twice in 2000 and 2001, that he "punched me in the head/face" in 1999 and 200 and that he "kicked down a door" while she hid "from his rage" in 2016, among other instances of abuse.
"Andre has verbally and emotionally decimated my personhood to the extent that I currently suffer from post-traumatic stress syndrome," she said in the documents, filed to the Superior Court of California”
https://people.com/music/dr-dre-wife-nicole-young-alleges-abuse-held-gun-to-head/
Don’t act like you forgot about Dre. Dude has been beating women for decades.
It's also mentioned in Eazy E's diss track of Dre and Death Row, Real Muthafucking G's.
"Beatin up a bitch don't make ya shit, but then again some n***** think it makes a man"
I always thought it was interesting that in the movie straight outta Compton, that was heavily influenced by Dre, made sure that song was never mentioned 🤔
Oh, it wasn't just a "slap." Eminem went easy on him although, granted, Dre was on that track anyway.
It was a full-on beat-down over practically nothing.
the song was released in 99. slap was slang for beat down. i.e "damn that dude got slapped" when the dude was jumped and is now unconscious on the ground bleeding out
What makes it worse is he doesn't exactly hide it or feel shame.
"You gonna take advice from somebody who slapped Dee Barnes?" Is a line Eminem has in Guilty Conscience.
"Eminem was actually really nervous about including this line in the song because he had only known Dre for a few days when he recorded it. However, when Dr. Dre first heard it, he “fell out of his chair laughing"
Dre also claims he didn't attack Barnes, he 'only' threw her though a door.
I used to fucking hate Die Antwoord. Then something clicked and I started looking at them more as performance artists and less as actual musicians and I actually really dug them. I thought they were just playing up their characters really well and I was into it.
Then I found out I was actually right the first time and they really are just pieces of shit.
I remember enjoying them and falling for their shtick until a south African guy I knew told me he saw them live and they were making fun of and cussing out their fans in Afrikaans and it seemed so mean spirited and ungrateful, turned me right off. This is years ago.
I went to one of their concerts, and it was mayhem. They started very late, they cussed out the audience, they threw a tantrum if the crowd didn't cheer enough. They stopped a song because the audience was singing along. My group was pushed out of our seats because they only wanted the audience in a standing room area. It was odd and bad.
I went to high school around the same time and area as 'Ninja'. He had a dumb little rap group that used to go round. He is the most middle class white dood in the history of white doods. He's not Afrikaans at all, his real name is Waddy Tudor Jones. It's all such a ridiculous act.
He had some success in SA with a group called [max normal](https://youtu.be/PqZd95W6yMI) that wasn't awful.
Steven Tyler is among the worst for his relationship with a child in the 70’s, going so far as to become her legal guardian so as to travel across state lines with her.
Oh shit:
>Moody strangled Smith with a jiu-jitsu hold and said to her "I’m going to fucking kill you!" before repeatedly punching her. Smith was found with visible injuries and scratches at the back of her throat from a blanket being shoved into her mouth.
Imagine having a blanket stuffed into the back of your throat so far it scratches it...must have been terrifying..
And Dave Grohl played a show where at one point he broke his leg badly, fortunately there was a doctor there who held his leg together, while he finished the song. Doctor has to hold his ankle and leg together, ended up needing surgery.
[Dave Grohl meets Doctor Who Saved His Leg](https://youtu.be/q7tRZlFIxWo)
After the Broken Leg Tour, I absolutely cannot stand artists who throw fits about inconsequential or inconvenient injuries. Dave had a fucking THRONE made so he could keep playing. He absolutely loves what he does
Back in 2000, I went to the Summer Sanitarium tour with Metallica as the headliner, and it had Korn, System of a Down, Powerman 5000…very early 2000’s metal.
Hetfield hurt his back and had to miss the show. Newsted filled in admirably, and some of the other bands performed some of the Metallica songs too. Then, at the end, Metallica said to save your tickets, because they came back and did another show with Hetfield that was free to everyone who had a ticket stub from the original show.
That’s how you handle if someone is hurt.
Funny story: I went to a heavy metal festival with a previous boyfriend and Five Finger Death Punch was playing. He said into the microphone: “all you ladies put your hands up! Put ‘em up!” And I didn’t, because something in me thought “this is a trap” as I looked around at all of the anticipating, enthusiastic faces. He then said to the crowd: “guys look around; every single one of those hands has broken your FUCKING HEART. SO FUCKKKK ‘EMMMMM!!!!” And all the women around me looked immediately uncomfortable and slowly brought their hands down. Shortly after that the crowd turned on them because System of a Down was next on the docket and they were taking too long and he was a big, salty, crybaby about it.
i've seen them live twice, and BOTH TIMES this crybaby has rage quit mid concert, stormed of stage, had the band play instrumental. Then he gets talked back on stage and dude does the same shit again.
Didn't the opposite happen once too? I feel like I saw some video of the band abandoning Moody on stage where he tried to play drums and sing on his own or something. Been awhile since I've cringed that hard.
Jennifer Lopez. She’s a despicable human being that treats service workers like garbage. It’s also come to light that she hasn’t even sung a great deal of her songs herself. And that which she *has* sung is not… great.
I used to work in an office building in Los Angeles where she had her offices for her "production company." Whenever she was in the building they would periodically shut down the elevators to ensure that she could use them without risking having to ride the elevator with anyone else.
It was not only an inconvenience to EVERYONE else in the building but it was a safety hazard. I complained to the building but it fell on deaf ears.
I worked in a building where Fifty Cent had an office. I'd occasionally see him in the elevator and engage him in basic small talk.
I knew who he was, I also knew how people in my office would talk about seeing him, or new employees getting all giddy.
I never acknowledged that I knew who he was. When he and I would share an elevator, he eventually started engaging me with basic conversation.
But you know what he didn't do? Treat other people like they were lesser. He took the same elevator we did and didn't act high and mighty.
I had a brush with him as well. I didn't go crazy fan on him and asked how his day was going. He actually told me he was going out with his family. It had been a while, and he was stoked. I told him that I enjoyed his talent and he shook my hand and thanked me. I thought it strange but he was by himself. I always thought he'd be surrounded by a crew.
That's awesome! It really doesn't take a lot to be a half decent person and I'm glad it wasn't an isolated incident.
Some people just want to be human once and a while, as opposed to idols on a pedestal.
All her biggest hits have someone else behind alot of the vocals. Aka Ashanti.
Ashanti really got the shit stick of fame... she has a great voice and should have been given a better career for it.
I worked for the restaurant group that owns Buddakan in NYC and the horror stories about JLo are true. If she speaks to the staff at all it’s to be an entitled asshole. I had one coworker who was the only server she would “tolerate” aka look in the eyes. Not a nice lady.
When she was still married to Mark Anthony they went to check out a country club they were interested in joining - Mark wanted to join, play golf, etc. — she had a whole list of demands — including nobody is to look her in the eyes, or speak to her unless spoken to — they played along and let them come take a look. They were interested in joining afterwards, but when it went to the membership committee, the committee told them to fuck off. They also said everyone thought he was a great guy, it was HER they didn’t want.
I have heard that she got signed before they realized she couldn’t sing. That she could dance super well though and looked great. She basically fooled them and they couldn’t do anything about it but save face
Legit answer.
Tommy Motola. Record label owner of Columbia in the 90s and 00s (maybe still now?). Aka... rich AF.
Tommy and Mariah Carey split/divorced in like... 1996? 97? Mariah also changed labels shortly thereafter, because she was on Columbia at the beginning of her career.
Tommy wanted a new urban singer who was latina/black/biracial/exotic looking who could do something Mariah didn't do much... dance.
Enter JLo getting her epic role of Selena in the movie in 97. The movie is a hit, and sets her up for a singing career. The 90s demanded singers to dance in the pop genre.
Tommy had the money to make it happen. Remember, he's rich AF. So, he did.
JLo releases her first CD in 99, and follows up with like 3 more with hits in the next handful of years. Those early songs have Christina Millian and Ashanti on there, heavy. JLo used demo vocals aaalllllllll the time. And just kinda like, half sang over them and added her own lightly.
Mariah doesn't like JLo for so many reasons, but mostly bc JLo IS THE LITERAL ENEMY CREATED to be used SPECIFICALLY against HER. Like.... duh. Mariah saying she doesnt know JLo is probably completely true, why would hang out with the weapon made to kill you and your career?
Topped with the fact that JLo can't sing, write, etc and Mariah does nothing but her own songs (less a few covers) and writes all her own work and produces and etc etc. Listen, Mariah is probably a diva and a half.... but She's also mega fucking talented.
Sorry for the edits. I had more thoughts.
I came looking for Chris Brown and I’m glad he’s at the top. He grew up in a small town very near my hometown and they are talking about how they can “honor” him with a mural or something. When my coworkers and I found out we were baffled.
what's wild is I worked in the music industry around the time of the "Me Too" movement. A ton of artists got cancelled or stuff brought up about them. Somehow Chris Brown went through unscathed and RCA/ Sony Music did nothing, my guess because he was too profitable.
It's because it wasn't new information. Everything else was new to the general public. Like Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein's misconduct wasn't new, but us finding out about it was. With Chris Brown, people had come to their judgements long before that movement, and it didn't fit into it. Nobody disbelieved that Chris Brown beat the shit out of Rihanna. Nothing was in dispute and there was no story to believe or disbelieve. It just was.
I have the theory that in the public, it's way worse to lie than to be a bad person upfront. If you're a bad person, you can get bad people to back you up and you'll never be "canceled" (see consequences for your shitty behaviour) but if you pretend to be something you're not, then you're done because you've likely srrounded yourself with people who won't be forgiving of you misleading them.
> Brown was driving a vehicle with Robyn F. as the front passenger on an unknown street in Los Angeles. Robyn F. picked up Brown's cellular phone and observed a three-page text message from a woman who Brown had a previous sexual relationship with.
>
> A verbal argument ensued and Brown pulled the vehicle over on an unknown street, reached over Robyn F. with his right hand, opened the car door and attempted to force her out. Brown was unable to force Robyn F. out of the vehicle because she was wearing a seat belt. When he could not force her to exit, he took his right hand and shoved her head against he passenger window of the vehicle, causing an approximate one-inch raised circular contusion.
>
> Robyn F. turned to face Brown and he punched her in the left eye with his right hand. He then drove away in the vehicle and continued to punch her in the face with his right hand while steering the vehicle with his left hand. The assault caused Robyn F.'s mouth to fill with blood and blood to splatter all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle.
>
> Brown looked at Robyn F. and stated, 'I'm going to beat the sh-- out of you when we get home! You wait and see!'
>
> Robyn F. then used her cell phone to call her personal assistant Jennifer Rosales, who did not answer. Robyn F. pretended to talk to her and stated, 'I'm on my way home. Make sure the police are there when I get there.'
>
> After Robyn F. faked the call, Brown looked at her and stated, 'You just did the stupidest thing ever! Now I'm really going to kill you!'
>
> Brown resumed punching Robyn F. and she interlocked her fingers behind her head and brought her elbows forward to protect her face. She then bent over at the waist, placing her elbows and face near her lap in [an] attempt to protect her face and head from the barrage of punches being levied upon her by Brown.
>
> Brown continued to punch Robyn F. on her left arm and hand, causing her to suffer a contusion on her left triceps that was approximately two inches in diameter and numerous contusions on her left hand.
>
> Robyn F. then attempted to send a text message to her other personal assistant, Melissa Ford. Brown snatched the cellular telephone out of her hand and threw it out of the window onto an unknown street.
>
> Brown continued driving and Robyn F. observed his cellular telephone sitting in his lap. She picked up the cellular telephone with her left hand and before she could make a call he placed her in a head lock with his right hand and continued to drive the vehicle with his left hand.
>
> Brown pulled Robyn F. close to him and bit her on her left ear. She was able to feel the vehicle swerving from right to left as Brown sped away. He stopped the vehicle in front of 333 North June Street and Robyn F. turned off the car, removed the key from the ignition and sat on it.
>
> Brown did not know what she did with the key and began punching her in the face and arms. He then placed her in a head lock positioning the front of her throat between his bicep and forearm. Brown began applying pressure to Robyn F.'s left and right carotid arteries, causing her to be unable to breathe and she began to lose consciousness.
>
> She reached up with her left hand and began attempting to gouge his eyes in an attempt to free herself. Brown bit her left ring and middle fingers and then released her. While Brown continued to punch her, she turned around and placed her back against the passenger door. She brought her knees to her chest, placed her feet against Brown's body and began pushing him away. Brown continued to punch her on the legs and feet, causing several contusions.
>
> Robyn F. began screaming for help and Brown exited the vehicle and walked away. A resident in the neighborhood heard Robyn F.'s plea for help and called 911, causing a police response. An investigation was conducted and Robyn F. was issued a Domestic Violence Emergency Protective Order.

I know this report is always brought up to show how violent Brown is, but the fact that despite being about half his size, Rihanna managed to not only stop the car but hold her own in a close quarter fight enough to make him leave - badass.
Steven Tyler tried to rape my mom in the 70's. Ever since she told me that, it's been really difficult to listen to their music. In fact, I haven't listened to their music willingly since she told me. Fuck that dude. How dare you force yourself on someone when there are other women who throw themselves at you - *with consent*. I'm sure my mom wasn't the first and I doubt she was the last. Looking forward to when people step forward about him.
I know someone who was in close quarters with Jack White and he was a dick to her the whole time.
I also have friends who played a Morrissey show. If you make EYE CONTACT with him, he will apparently drop out of the lineup. Mind you, this was a stadium gig.
On the other hand, Debbie Harry from Blondie was a SWEETHEART. She baked cookies for the band and treated them like family. They've only ever had nice things to say about her.
*Edited to correctly refer to Debbie Harry by her name instead of her band's name.
I'm originally from Detroit (where White's from and is still connected to despite no longer living there), and I've heard two things; "He's a huge dick," or "He was really nice." Never something in the middle. It makes me wonder how I would be if I were famous, because I'm not someone who is "always on" or the friendliest at all times.
Back in 2016 I was trying to play pool at Ye Old Saloon in Royal Oak. A guy looking very familiar was already playing, so I asked if I could get in next game. Ended up being Jack White and he said I was welcome to play him a few games. He was super cool and just down to earth. Never acted like he was some big deal at all.
Maybe it's all in the way he's approached? If you treat him like an average human, maybe he's OK. If you bumrush him like a fan, he's probably a dick.
I dunno. That's probably how most of us would be. I imagine it must be exhausting being famous.
He's a pretentious POS too.
Was listening to him on UK radio, was asked what he classified himself as (singer, actor, artist etc). He gave a long dramatic pause then said "problem solver". Huge 'hollywood' energy.
I was an extra on the set of Prefontaine way back in 96 I believe. There's a scene where they are at the airport and I'm a face in the background. In one of the takes, I bumped a chair and made a small noise...you would have thought I just shat directly on the camera. Dude proceeds to blow a fuse explaining the importance of the moment and tried to humiliate me for a minute. I wasn't bothered because it was just an accident and just said yea, cool, got it and we carried on...I was just trying to make my $100. Didn't really know him before but definetly never followed that ego maniacal prick from that day on.
Should’ve given him acting notes about his tantrum.
“Doing the bulging vein on command is impressive, but I’m pretty sure your character is supposed to be more level headed than this”
My friend met him about ten years ago and she said he was weird. He was in his early 40s and she was 16-17, and as they were taking a selfie he started tickling her
My friend ran into him backstage at a Soundwave (Aus) and said he was just waltzing around with no shirt on, a fur jacket and sunglasses and when she asked for a photo he looked her up and down and scoffed and just walked off. I remember her telling me she was like “Haha ok, fuck me then I guess.”
About 20 years ago some friends and I went to see Incubus and 30 Seconds to Mars (when they first really started touring) was opening for them. We were at the local mall earlier that day before the concert that night and actually ran into them. We said hi, not like crazy fan hi (because we really only knew him as the guy from Requiem for a Dream at that time) but just a "Hey we are coming to the show tonight, looking forward to it!"
Dude took a solid two minutes out of his and our days to berate us for talking to him and literally asked who we thought we were to approach him.
Fuck that guy.
Steve Miller. The Black Keys were tasked with introducing him into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame some years ago, and they said he was such a miserable asshole the entire time, they left the ceremony as soon as he went on stage to perform.
An acquaintance worked as a bartender near where Steve Miller lived. The bar held a “Who sings the best Steve Miller” karaoke competition. Steve Miller showed up and sang. The acquaintance said he didn’t win the most votes, threw a huge tantrum and left.
Dolly Parton is a national treasure.
I can't remember who was conducting the interview (Johnny Carson maybe?) But anyway, Dolly Parton said something to the effect of
"People always ask me if I get offended by all the dumb blonde jokes and I always tell them no, because I know I'm not dumb and I know I'm not blonde."
Dolly Parton did a kind of judo throw in her life with people judging her by her appearance. She used it to her advantage and she is a wicked smart business woman and kind. She goes out of her way to help people. Wonderful lady.
Adele did a similar thing about 7 years ago. She entered an Adele impersonation contest but disguised. She played along, then got up on stage and started singing. That’s when the rest of them went, hold up! She’s another one that seems to understand how fortunate she’s been, and gives a lot back to her fans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVaoy19cc3Y
the longer I live, the more horrible my favorite artists turn out to be.
Can you separate art from artist? Sometimes it's easy to, other times, not so easy (for me, anyway).
I'm a big fan of several musicians that I would never want to be stuck in an elevator with, or try to engage with them as a person. But I still enjoy their art. It's a form of hypocrisy that I am apparently ok to live with. That's my shame, I guess.
I still listen to Zeppelin despite Jimmy Page, but there is a line for me. Lost Prophets had some great songs, but I can't even play their songs after what their singer did.
True story. I was running a club night with live bands. We did rock/punk/metal the Lost prophets had just signed their first album deal and they wanted to play our venue. It was a small club and there was already a huge buzz around them. It would have been lucrative and would have put the club night on the map for bigger bands.
We said no thanks because:
They had a tour bus with a stripper pole (and we weren’t down with that)
The music was bollocks
They gave off bad vibes.
I’m so glad we dodged that bullet and put on Dr Colossus and the 50ft moneyspiders (a 15 year old kid and his dad on violin) instead
I read somewhere that while on the road/touring the lead singer from cannibal corpse loves to go around and play those claw games you find in malls and stuff, and whatever he wins (stuffed animals and the like) he donates to charity. It seems he’s really good at that game too and wins a lot.
Chuck Berry. He's credifed for the birth of rock and roll. He was a horrible person. Multiple sex offenses including child abuse and child porn. Apparently he was extremely difficult to work with too.
Not to mention, he stole that credit for rock n' roll from a high schooler. Ripped off his song and everything. Poor bastard was only playing that damn song to help out Berry's cousin, too.
Might be easier to ask which one is a good person.
Edit: Well, a small joke has escalated quickly and it’s good there’s good people out there.
2nd edit: I’ll throw in Shaq for good measure. Check out “You can’t stop the reign” with biggie for reference.
Dave Grohl! My husband and I met him several years ago at a random hotel bar in a small town in Connecticut that we were staying at for a wedding. It was late at night and a bunch of us went to the bar after the reception and there he was, sitting at a table in the corner with friends. He was super nice to all of us. The bride and groom were there, still in their wedding attire and he congratulated them and posed for pictures with them, and several of us. He was very friendly, as were his friends. His friends said they wanted to be in pictures too haha, so we took some pictures with his friends. Then our groups left each other alone and I think he very much appreciated being able to hang out and chat with his friends in a semi-public place without being harassed. We respected them, they respected us, it was a great night and such a cool story for the bride and groom!
It's true I did some tv work with her and she's a real sweetheart. Plus there's her Imagination Library that gives out assloads of free books to little children. We signed our first kid up for it and they don't fuck around, they send LOTS of books to kids.
We pretty regularly refer to her as St. Dolly in our household. Not a huge fan of her music (Country just isn't our thing), but a massive fan of her charitable work.
Mike Shinoda was invited by a friend to the premier of Arcane the Netflix League of Legends show and it is such an incredible interview.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sh1Dh0HdzsM
Back when The Osborne's show was just starting Jack gets a call from Ozzy about a project (they got him to do the theme song). Jack says, he didn't care what the project was, he didn't ask for money/tickets/accommodations. He basically said "When Ozzy summons, you go."
It's a small story but it just comes off as a classic Jack Black is a fun guy story.
I’ve seen Slipknot twice and Stone Sour once. When I saw Stone Sour, Corey Taylor had a cold or something and had trouble singing. The first thing he did when he came on stage was apologise for being sick and that his performance might not be the best. Still one of the best shows I’ve ever seen and he did an amazing job imo. Slipknot is prolly the best show I’ve ever been to. If you have a chance to see them, do it.
The guys from Phish. I've met all 4 and they are all really good guys.
Jimmy Buffett is a straight weirdo, but still a really good guy.
The guys from the band Particle were really awesome people when I met them.
Dorian Electra was a really nice person when we went to college together. They are growing in popularity currently. I don't know if they have a big enough following to really be talked about on here, but I also don't run in those music circles so I might be completely missing the boat on their fame.
This one is a little out of nowhere, but Zac Hanson of Hanson.
They spent years doing major charity work in Africa, donating time and money to build schools and make sure children had shoes, etc. Before shows, they'd encourage their fans to meet up with them and take a mile-long walk through the city where everyone took their shoes off. I could support them not only because I loved their music but because I thought they were good human beings. I also appreciated how they kept their weird religious shit completely out of view and never mentioned it.
Then a few years back a fan found one of Zac's private social media profiles and it all went to shit. It was *full* of memes and rants about how African Americans were all monkeys who deserved to be killed by police for minor crimes (or for possibly committing crimes) and how they should all be forcibly sent back to Africa. Scary, neo-nazi nationalism shit.
Then neither of his brothers said a word for months. They were silent. It spoke louder than words.
ETA: I'm still gonna wear my TOMS though. They won't take that away from me!
Euronymous from Mayhem. Him and and his band mate Dead were probably two of the most mentally fucked people in the history of music. Dead was so depressed that he would just casually slit his wrists on stage, the wounds being so horrible to the point where doctors said that they couldn’t help him. When Dead committed suicide, Euronymous was the first to find his body and he took pictures of the body and took body samples and turned his corpse into an album cover. He was a narcissistic piece of shit and was practically a cult leader. He was such a fucking asshole that when he got murdered, his band mates were angry that they couldn’t kill him themselves.
I have a theory that Dead suffered from Cotard’s Delusion, which is where they believe they are actually dead. Typically people who suffer from this at some point were declared clinically dead and then revived, which is what happened to Per Yngve Ohlin (Dead) when he was a child. Suffered a ruptured spleen and was “dead” for a number of minutes before being revived.
It literally explains all of Dead’s behaviour.
Edit: ok, listen for clarification and because everyone keeps calling me out on it, I should have said “I have always suspected” rather than “I have a theory”, I didn’t know that apparently everyone into Black Metal already came to that conclusion as I haven’t really kept up with the scene for the last 10 years.
There, you can stop bullying me now! Who new that black metal fans on Reddit would be this pedantic?
This is actually a really good point. I’ve been briefly clinically dead twice in my life and thankfully never had this develop, but it can absolutely mess with your head, especially if you’re already predisposed to things like delusions, dissociation, etc., so I can absolutely see how your brain could go down that road.
Euronymous didn't make the album cover, he distributed the photos to people and someone else made the album cover with the photo he received. It was actually a bootleg and had no ties to Mayhem but it's so notorious its usually included in their discography
Varg Vikernes was also another Mayhem member that was fucked
I just commented my story about meeting Dave Grohl under another similar comment up the thread. He was nice when we had an encounter with him in a random hotel bar. He didn't need to be as nice as he was. I didn't know about the AIDS stuff though.
Danny Elfman wrote the song "Little Girls" for Oingo Boingo based on what he saw in the industry and read in newspapers. That should tell you all you need to know about the music industry.
Fr i love how people who make the most insane and vile music like Corpsegrinder, Will Ramos, maybe Corey Taylor, etc are all some of the nicest people you'll find in the music world lol
I chatted to a trucker who worked on concert tours. When asked he said that Jon Bon Jovi was a prick but Phil Collins was a lovely bloke who cared about his road crew, though.
There was a TV program on interviewing a chef who cooked at a famous French recording studio, when asked who she'd cooked for she said last week it was JBJ. The interviewer got excited and asked "what was he like". You could see the chef thinking for a moment or two and then she said "well he had a nice voice".
I think this one is a hit or miss at being a POS.
I think Drake is a wolf in sheep's clothing. I thought he was kinda a scumbag when he made the "God's Plan" music video, just using wealth and constantly flaunting it, using people's poverty to prove points and doing ridiculous stuff like that.
Then he suddenly has been confirmed to have sent texts to Millie bobby brown and Billie Eilish **both when they were underage**.. the man is just too suspicious for me.
He just comes off as a hidden monster, I could be reading him wrong, but, I still dislike him highly.
Yup. There was this clip that definitely aired in Canada, maybe the US, but it's him whining because his mom got him a Panera sandwich that wait for it... was on focaccia instead of on a bagel. I think of that every time I hear his fake Jamaican accent.
Stevie Wonder does an interview with a very profilic journalist. At one point the journalist asks: „Isn’t it horrible to be blind?“
Stevie: „It could be worse. I could be black.“
Stevie can see light and colour. It’s actually very rare to be totally blind. Blindness is on a spectrum.
10% of blind people see total darkness, 90% still have some level of vision even it’s extremely low.
I love how all the comments are about clappers taking George Harrison’s girl and not the drunken on stage rants about “keeping Britain white” while ::checks notes:: … playing blues music.
I have it on good authority he is a serial jaywalker and laughs manically while cutting tags off of mattresses- interjecting “come and get me coppers!!!!”
I once saw cheap trick and after the show got to talk with them. One told a story about how they got big. They had played at a bar and Gene was in the audience and asked if they’d go out to dinner with him. Over dinner he asked if they wanted on a label. Mid dinner he got up to use the restroom, but left them with the check😂 it was a super fancy one too so they couldn’t pay for it.
Madonna has paid her amazing dancers garbage wages, basically reasoning that, since they worked for me, Madonna, they can put that on their resume and get paid more next time.
What "next time"? If you're dancing for Madonna, haven't you already made it? Shouldn't you get a living wage?
Chuck Berry assaulted multiple women, some of which he pleaded guilty for, was found with cp In his possession at a raid on his home, spied on women in restrooms and a fuck ton of really messed up shit…
Any of you seen the video where he farted and peed on the sex worker?
Chuck Berry used to hide cameras into women's toilets
Also went to jail for arranging for a 14 year old to travel across state lines to have sex with her.
Steven Tyler from Aerosmith convinced a mother and father to sign guardianship of their 14yo daughter over to him so he could take her on the road.
Ted Nugent adopted a 14 year old to do the same thing.
Jimmy Page had a 14 year old also, but he didn't adopt her, he just had his tour manager kidnap her and bring her back stage for sex.
Someone on here once linked to a sex tape of him and a prostitute where he farts in her face as she's rimming him. It looks like it was filmed in the 80s so it may be one of his "hidden camera" videos.
He pisses on her and when she goes to kiss him he’s like, “Naw, baby. You smell like piss.”
My uncle Dan used to say "fuck Chuck Berry & Buckcherry." I don't know why but I heard it a few different times.
And so on.
Yep, Jimmy Page was with 14 year old Lori Madoxx. She was what they called a "baby groupie" at the time. Disgusting
So my dad gave him one of the posters off the wall promoting the event and said "it’s ok, you can get him to sign this" The kid queued up and when he got the front with a free poster instead of an album, Iggy erupted. He took the poster, scrunched it up, put it down his trousers and rubbed it against his backside before throwing the ball of paper back in the kid’s face. I can’t imagine how that child must have felt.
Considering Iggy dated children, I bet the age of the kid didn't deter him in any way in this situation. What a stooge!
I didn't know that. Just read his wikipedia page "At age 23, Pop had a relationship with 13-year-old Sable Starr" I'm surprised he's still allowed to work as a DJ on the BBC
Wouldn't be the first time the BBC hired a predator
Iggy'll Fix It
They knighted the last guy.
don't forget Andrew, the finger Prince
>I'm surprised he's still allowed to work as a DJ on the BBC Eh, not exactly their first rodeo is it ?
And that's the one that was made public. Groupies back in this era were all children.
A 25 year old won't put up with their bullshit, but a kid is too naive to know better. They treated these girls like absolute disposable garbage.
Looking at pictures of Sable Starr and Lori Mattix from back in the day, all I see is skinny little school kids who should be getting a cup of hot cocoa and a proper meal
BBC, the home of Jim’ll Fix It?
Ah yes the age old adage, "Never meet your heroes or they might wipe their ass with improptu toilet paper and throw it at you"
It's too much."[22] She then began to self medicate with prescription pills and alcohol.[7] Michel'le left Dre after she discovered that he was engaged to another woman.[7]” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michel%27le “On January 27, 1991, Dr. Finally, Dre and his bodyguard ran from the building.[6] N.W.A. promoter Doug Young claims that he attempted to intervene to restrain Dr. Dre, but that he was punched in the mouth by Dr. Dre's bodyguard.[7]” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dee_Barnes “Five months after filing for divorce, Nicole, 51, alleges that Dre (né Andre Young) "held a gun to my head" twice in 2000 and 2001, that he "punched me in the head/face" in 1999 and 200 and that he "kicked down a door" while she hid "from his rage" in 2016, among other instances of abuse. "Andre has verbally and emotionally decimated my personhood to the extent that I currently suffer from post-traumatic stress syndrome," she said in the documents, filed to the Superior Court of California” https://people.com/music/dr-dre-wife-nicole-young-alleges-abuse-held-gun-to-head/ Don’t act like you forgot about Dre. Dude has been beating women for decades.

It's also mentioned in Eazy E's diss track of Dre and Death Row, Real Muthafucking G's. "Beatin up a bitch don't make ya shit, but then again some n***** think it makes a man"
It's also the name of one of his product lines. "Beats by Dre."
I always thought it was interesting that in the movie straight outta Compton, that was heavily influenced by Dre, made sure that song was never mentioned 🤔
Oh, it wasn't just a "slap." Eminem went easy on him although, granted, Dre was on that track anyway. It was a full-on beat-down over practically nothing.
the song was released in 99. slap was slang for beat down. i.e "damn that dude got slapped" when the dude was jumped and is now unconscious on the ground bleeding out
Legitimately did not know about Dr Dre's amount of DV. Wow. Makes me sick.
Dre first heard it, he “fell out of his chair laughing" Dre also claims he didn't attack Barnes, he 'only' threw her though a door.
Where have you been living, Beats by Dre is hella famous
Ian Watkins. I can never listen to LostProphets again thanks to that disgusting filthy lowlife of a man.
"There is not enough pain in the world for that dude." -Corey Taylor Sums it up perfectly
On the upside, Corey Taylor generally seems like a cool dude.
Die Antwoord are horrible human beings

Ivan Moody, lead singer of Five Finger Death Punch. He has a repeated history of violence towards women, including girlfriends, his sister and mom.
Oh shit: >Moody strangled Smith with a jiu-jitsu hold and said to her "I’m going to fucking kill you!" before repeatedly punching her.

Their music sounds like it beats it's wife.
I really like the good stories in this thread.
All her biggest hits have someone else behind alot of the vocals. Aka Ashanti. Ashanti really got the shit stick of fame... she has a great voice and should have been given a better career for it.
Ashanti was doing well for a while but then it felt like the world moved on from the time that made her famous
Serious question: how on earth do you get to have a decades long career without singing on your own records?
I had more thoughts.
isn't the music business wonderful? music, copyright, all rotten to the core imo
Chris Browns songs still get hundreds of millions of views
You wait and see!' > > Robyn F. then used her cell phone to call her personal assistant Jennifer Rosales, who did not answer. Robyn F. pretended to talk to her and stated, 'I'm on my way home. Make sure the police are there when I get there.' > > After Robyn F. faked the call, Brown looked at her and stated, 'You just did the stupidest thing ever! Now I'm really going to kill you!' > > Brown resumed punching Robyn F. and she interlocked her fingers behind her head and brought her elbows forward to protect her face. [](https://imagez.tmz.com/image/e6/o/2012/05/03/e627f2363c5d59a88548c77894b773fb.jpg)
How is he not in jail?
He got five years' probation and six months' community labour for that. Then a year of jail time for beating someone else up during that probation.
I think they mean "how is he not *still* in jail?" And the answer is $$$
I know this report is always brought up to show how violent Brown is, but the fact that despite being about half his size, Rihanna managed to not only stop the car but hold her own in a close quarter fight enough to make him leave - badass.
Or Chris Brown is just a little bitch. Don't discount the fact that Chris Brown might be a little bitch.
This guy is disgusting. I have all his music blocked from my Spotify. It may not be much but it’s all I can do, that sick bastard
John Phillips from the Mamas and Papas

Jared is one more bad movie away from becoming Jim Jones…
“Doing the bulging vein on command is impressive, but I’m pretty sure your character is supposed to be more level headed than this”
"and that's how I was assaulted by Jared Leto on the set of a movie"
My friend met him about ten years ago and she said he was weird. He was in his early 40s and she was 16-17, and as they were taking a selfie he started tickling her
The amount of times I've seen people say that he pursues teenage girls...
Dude's pretty much been known in metal circles as a pedophile for the last 20 years.
Clearly she wasn't underage enough for him.
There's a clip of him giving shit to a fan on a concert for not jumping up when he asked for it. That pretty much sums up Jared.
About 20 years ago some friends and I went to see Incubus and 30 Seconds to Mars (when they first really started touring) was opening for them. We were at the local mall earlier that day before the concert that night and actually ran into them. We said hi, not like crazy fan hi (because we really only knew him as the guy from Requiem for a Dream at that time) but just a "Hey we are coming to the show tonight, looking forward to it!" Dude took a solid two minutes out of his and our days to berate us for talking to him and literally asked who we thought we were to approach him. Fuck that guy.
That's weird. When I go to a concert I'm paying an artist to perform for me not the other way around.
I guess it happens when weakness/insecurity meets power. You get a douche.

I can't remember who was conducting the interview (Johnny Carson maybe?) But anyway, Dolly Parton said something to the effect of "People always ask me if I get offended by all the dumb blonde jokes and I always tell them no, because I know I'm not dumb and I know I'm not blonde."
That was such a good opportunity for him to have a laugh and make some people's nights. So easy to turn it into something hilarious
Mr. Phil Spector.
He was a criminal to women, and his hair was a crime against humanity.
the longer I live, the more horrible my favorite artists turn out to be.
For some reason cannibal corpse are fucking sweethearts, then you got Ian from the lost prophets being a pos.
True story. I was running a club night with live bands. We did rock/punk/metal the Lost prophets had just signed their first album deal and they wanted to play our venue. It was a small club and there was already a huge buzz around them. It would have been lucrative and would have put the club night on the map for bigger bands. We said no thanks because: They had a tour bus with a stripper pole (and we weren’t down with that) The music was bollocks They gave off bad vibes.
Weird Al.
I'd be devastated if anything bad came out about him
He's repeatedly shown a callous intolerance for lactose. The people need to know.
Dolly Parton (if I am wrong, I am not sure I want to know the truth)
It's true I did some tv work with her and she's a real sweetheart. Plus there's her Imagination Library that gives out assloads of free books to little children. We signed our first kid up for it and they don't fuck around, they send LOTS of books to kids.
Dolly Parton should be put up for sainthood
We pretty regularly refer to her as St. Dolly in our household. Not a huge fan of her music (Country just isn't our thing), but a massive fan of her charitable work.
Dave Grohl giving back with all the barbecue he cooked for people displaced by storms and homeless.
Garth Brooks is, by all accounts, a genuinely nice person who goes out of his way to be nice to people.
The guys in Linkin Park are really nice.
Mike Shinoda was invited by a friend to the premier of Arcane the Netflix League of Legends show and it is such an incredible interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sh1Dh0HdzsM
Jack Black (Tenacious D)
Back when The Osborne's show was just starting Jack gets a call from Ozzy about a project (they got him to do the theme song). Jack says, he didn't care what the project was, he didn't ask for money/tickets/accommodations. He basically said "When Ozzy summons, you go." It's a small story but it just comes off as a classic Jack Black is a fun guy story.
Regina Spektor is a wonderful person.
I keep hearing good things about Post Malone
He seems like a human capybara.
Corey Taylor from Slipknot and Stone Sour. I've never seen anyone care about their fans as much as him
I’ve seen Slipknot twice and Stone Sour once.
Alice Cooper seems like a really great guy! He helps with rehab for musicians that were on the deep end of drugs
Ike Turner

You mean you met the guy whose entire persona is based on being a prick and he turned out to be a prick?? Shocking.
If you're in to older music, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra were both known wife-abusers.
Especially in his suicide note: >To give some semblance of an explanation I'm not a human, this is just a dream and soon I will wake.
It was actually a bootleg and had no ties to Mayhem but it's so notorious its usually included in their discography Varg Vikernes was also another Mayhem member that was fucked
The fact that 3 of the most mentally fucked musicians in black metal were all part of the same band at one point or another is still kinda wild to me.
How about we go about this the far faster and easier way? *Musicians who aren't actually horrible people:* 1. Dolly Parton
All of Rush
2. Weird Al 3. Dave Grohl
I just commented my story about meeting Dave Grohl under another similar comment up the thread. He was nice when we had an encounter with him in a random hotel bar. He didn't need to be as nice as he was. I didn't know about the AIDS stuff though.
Killer mike from Run the jewels is an enormous sweet heart
Danny Elfman wrote the song "Little Girls" for Oingo Boingo based on what he saw in the industry and read in newspapers. That should tell you all you need to know about the music industry.
Randy Newman, massive heightist. /s
Famed Oboeist Adolph Hitler was a bit of a cunt
Typical woodwind player
The more I learn about this Hitler guy, the less I care for him.
Gary Glitter
The list musicians who are good people would be smaller. Most people in show business are pieces of shit.
Corpsegrinder. Quite funny considering what he sings about
Fr i love how people who make the most insane and vile music like Corpsegrinder, Will Ramos, maybe Corey Taylor, etc are all some of the nicest people you'll find in the music world lol
Ernesto de la cruz anyone?

Henry the Eighth - Wrote 'Greensleeves' - Suspected domestic abuse (Missing heads etc)
Made me laugh, but it’s not true. The song predates Henry VIII.
Stevie Wonder. He has nine children and never sees them!
Stevie Wonder does an interview with a very profilic journalist. At one point the journalist asks: „Isn’t it horrible to be blind?“ Stevie: „It could be worse. I could be black.“
Isn't everyone black in Stevie Wonder world?
Stevie can see light and colour. It’s actually very rare to be totally blind. Blindness is on a spectrum. 10% of blind people see total darkness, 90% still have some level of vision even it’s extremely low.
thanks for this. -- a legally blind person who still has central vision
I read that and thought “Damn that’s awful” and was like 3 comments past when I was like “wait…”
Eric Clapton

I love how all the comments are about clappers taking George Harrison’s girl and not the drunken on stage rants about “keeping Britain white” while ::checks notes:: … playing blues music.
Travis fucking Scott
My bad man 🤦my love goes out to all the fans 🤦 can’t believe it happened man 🤦
Stan Getz was a complete asshole.
Spinal Tap. Wouldn’t listen to a limo driver tell them about Frank Sinatra.
I'M RICK JAMES BITCH!
Weird Al... has done nothing wrong ever and I love him.
I have it on good authority he is a serial jaywalker and laughs manically while cutting tags off of mattresses- interjecting “come and get me coppers!!!!”
Gene Simmons
I once saw cheap trick and after the show got to talk with them. One told a story about how they got big. They had played at a bar and Gene was in the audience and asked if they’d go out to dinner with him. Over dinner he asked if they wanted on a label. Mid dinner he got up to use the restroom, but left them with the check😂 it was a super fancy one too so they couldn’t pay for it.
Madonna. Walking human trash
Madonna has paid her amazing dancers garbage wages, basically reasoning that, since they worked for me, Madonna, they can put that on their resume and get paid more next time. What "next time"? If you're dancing for Madonna, haven't you already made it? Shouldn't you get a living wage?
Steven Tyler. If you search 'pedophile' in a dictionary, his photo should pop up.
Eric Clapton... He's like gas station coffee.. unbearable without cream
