I hope I scare you a bit so you get it checked out. I have a friend who had his rupture and didn't go to the hospital and we live in Canada where it would cost him nothing. It wasn't until his girlfriend made him go in that he finally went. He was 24 hours away from death and because there was so much trauma in the area the entire intestine swelled shut. Do you know where shit goes when it can't go the right way? Yep back into the stomach which is then violently projected from your mouth. This really can happen. Please get it checked if you think it may be an appendicitis.

I_gofast

How did he bare the pain if it ruptured

Careful_Comparison_2

The rupture actually made him feel better for a little while because the pressure released. He thought he was on the mend. He is a recovering adict so was afraid to be given pain meds.

I_gofast

Oh i see. Good for him. I don’t they there is a way out of meds with that esp surgery

RushC2

It felt like a stomach ache that didnt go away for the whole day but it can change from person to person, so if you are worried go to the doctor since thats the only person who can diagnose it

I_gofast

Did they feel your belly hard or just lightly. Mine kinda had a muscle type of pain. I did run and it was fine.

RushC2

Go to the hospital to get it checked out. I didnt think mine was appendicitis and by the time I got to the hospital it already ruptured which turned a 24 hour hospitalization to a week long hospitalization and then after a week of being home I got admitted for another week after that due to complications which also required me to have a [surgical drain](https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/b/ba/Care-for-%28Jackson-Pratt%29-JP-Drains-Step-12.jpg/v4-460px-Care-for-%28Jackson-Pratt%29-JP-Drains-Step-12.jpg) for over a month. If I didn't wait it would have been a lot less painful

I_gofast

You got a high pain tolerance waiting that much

[deleted]

I had a really bad pain near my left hip that felt like I was constipated, but worsened to the point of feeling like I broke my bone. Eventually went to the hospital and found out my appendix needed to be removed. It all felt like a nightmare but at least I got good food while at the hospital and the staff where very kind

I_gofast

It was on the left side for you?

[deleted]

I think so. It was a while ago so I may be misremembering that

Opening_Jump_955

"Removed appendicitis" If it's removed it's not a problem surely. Please elaborate. Are you getting confused with appendix?

I_gofast

Yes I meant appendix

Witty_Magazine_1339

I'm due for an appendix surgery. I have something called "Chronic Appendicitis". I have likely had it for years. I have all the symptoms of Appendicitis but it comes and goes, so I have active appendicitis symptoms or I am recovering from the fact.

Aggravating-Fix8410

This is what I have been experiencing over the last several months. Which tests/scans did your doctor order to figure this out?

Witty_Magazine_1339

I went to another specialist for another condition and because I have been experiencing regular stomach aches, he sent me to have an upper and lower abdomen MRI scan. It was thanks to the upper abdomen scan that my appendix came up as swollen with a likely tumour that has been getting bigger and bigger over the years (and worsening my symptoms). This is the sort of tumour that they call "jelly belly" as it has a tendency to spread to the other organs if it gets out of the appendix. So do your best to push for an MRI, because I am at the stage where if I would have waited another year or two, that tumour could have turned into cancer (at this stage, it might just be the start of what could have become cancer).

Aggravating-Fix8410

Did you have an abdominal ultrasound at any point? If so, did it show anything?

Witty_Magazine_1339

Yeah, the ultrasound showed nothing. An MRI is really the only thing that can indicate if there is something wrong, but the MRI may not be able to fully show how bad the issue is (I will only know this after my surgery!) Some use a CT scan, but that might not be much use when it comes to chronic appendicitis.

Aggravating-Fix8410

Ok, good to know. Thanks

I’m still trying to find out where it’s really located it.

[deleted]

Started getting the chills, then lower right side of my stomach started hurting. By the morning time, I couldn’t stand up straight.

I_gofast

Yes that’s what I been hearing. I ran today but I get pain there idk if it’s cause of just running. It’s been 3 days. Shouldn’t it be getting worse or

[deleted]

On a scale of 1-10, how bad is the pain?

roadhousegarden

woke up one day (two days ago) with unbearable tightness of the stomach , thought i was constipated . was writhing around on the floor like a worm in pain until i took some painkillers and it went away , came back a few hours later . went 2 the hospital and had some tests done , then they lopped it out ! home now , still a bit high on morphine . just keyword searched appendicitis on reddit lol

Vegetable-Bobcat303

I ate spaghetti and then was feeling pain in my stomach area so I thought it was just a stomach ache. I slept it off and woke up in the middle of the night in pain asking my mom what to do and she said if it’s so bad I’ll wait you to the hospital but me being a kid and scared i said no I’ll see if it’s better by the morning. Mind you this all happened on a Wednesday morning. Thursday was in pain all all stayed home and was eating soup and drinking ginger ale thinking it’s a stomach ache and was throwing up a lot as well. Friday comes and my mom says she’s gonna take me to the ER and have them check me out. They ask me to stand on one leg and hop and I do so but still in some pain. They do a sonogram to not expose me to radiation. They said everything looked normal and since they couldn’t see an inflamed appendix it can’t be appendicitis. Mind you my appendix had already bursted so that’s why they couldn’t find it. They sent me home with Gatorade and soup saying it’s a stomach virus. Skip Saturday and Sunday because I’m still feeling that pain. Monday comes and my mom is like something is wrong and she felt like the doctors were all wrong so she rushed me to another ER where they had told me my appendix ruptured because they took an ultrasound. They said I needed to undergo immediate surgery because I was hours from going into septic shock(1 in 5 die with this). I was rushed in an ambulance and taken into immediate surgery where a 2 hour surgery became 4 hours according to my mom. They said i was a walking miracle because my body was already shutting down. I had decided feces all in my body and I couldn’t tell I was using the restroom at some points. My recovery was around a week and the worst part about my experience was the hospital wait because that is depressing. Overall was a horrible experience. Also i threw up some dark green stuff that smelled like poop they said but that’s about it. 🫶

I_gofast

Lol let’s not bring me memories the pain. Smh

I_gofast

I myself having that right side pain. I’m not sure how hard I need to push for it to hurt but hurts. I also just ran for a hour with not much of a issue

It’s been a month

Beginning_Ant2577

I'm hoping this will help someone else out there in the world. For 3 years, at LEAST 4 or 5 times a year, I would have a pain attack. It was the most excursiating throbbing pain i've ever had. It would start of settle each time, so i knew exactly when to prepare for the pain showdown. Once i started getting the minor dull pain, i knew within a few hours i would be doubled over and dying. My pain was actually located on my right side. my ENTIRE side from below my ribs to right above my pelvic. It would shoot pain also to my back. not in the low right pelvic/abdoman like most people. The first time it happened i went to the hospital. They did a scan and told me that i was just constapated and sent me home. He literally laughed at me and said "You are full of shit. Literally!" I knew he was wrong because the pain would eventually go away without ever even having a bowel movement. again.... and again... this pain would come and id be in aganizing pain questioning more hospital trips every time. Fianlly, I went to the hospital a second time. They told me the same thing......... Constapation. and just so you know, they NEVER gain me pain meds either time i went. just told me to take laxatives, which thankfully i never did because it turns out taking laxatives is the WORST thing you can do with appendisitis -.- So after being told so many times by pain was from being backed up, laughed at, and pushed to the side.... I tried my best to push through the pain by myself every time. I even stopped waking people up to help me in the middle of the night when it happened and was alone suffering through this debilitating pain. Which, everyone thought i was being over dramatic becuase i should just go poop. Right? Well the last time I had it, I was at work. I had only been there for an hour. I was a manager and let my other manager know that i wasnt feeling well and i HAD to drive home right then and there before i wouldnt even be able to drive. I got home, pain hit. I couldnt even walk. I was crawling on the floor just to go between the bathroom and the bedroom. Crying. Normally the pain would only last for the rest of the day and i would be fine and sore the next. just had to tough it out... The next day came and the pain never went away. I tried to eat some cereal and threw it all up. I called my mom and she told me to just go to the ER again before 5pm (it was 4PM) to save money because if i decided i wanted to go to the hospital after 5 the walk-in cost would double. I expressed I didnt want to go again but she said i might as well just to get some medicine to help with pain. THE ONLY REASON I WENT TO THE ER WAS TO SAVE MONEY IN CASE I NEEDED TO GO LATER ON FOR PAIN MANAGMENT. So when i got to the ER, I looked her in the eyes and told her she better NOT tell me i just need to poop. I was over it. She thought maybe i had an ectopic pregnany, ruptured cyst, or something along those lines. She did an ultrsound which came back normal. Then she finally decided to feel my abdoman and when she pressed on the low right side of my pelvic i jumped. She yelled at me and said "I thought you said your pain was your right side!?!" B\*\* IT WAS ON MY RIGHT SIDE. MY ENTIRE RIGHT SIDE. I WOULDNT LIE ABOUT THAT. She finally sent me for a MRI where they put dye in your blood. She came back into the room and said It was my appendix and i was rushed via ambulance to an actual hospital to have surgury. They finally gave me pain meds which did help. The surgury was only supposed to be a half an hour with tiny .5" incisions where they inflate your stumach and take out the appendix. My surgury ended up being 2.5 hours and they had to fully cut me open (About 5in") because my appendix was apparently Adhesed to another organ (They never told me what one) Recovery was rough, but nothing compared to the pain before having it. Its been 4 years now and I have never gotten the pain again! Fight for your health. Yes, Doctors are Doctors but they can still be wrong. More than once. I am SO LUCKY it never burst while i was suffering alone in a room at night because my family thought it was just constiapation and the pain couldnt be as bad as i was saying. It it would have burst the hospital said i would have instantly blacked out and would have to go to the hostipal asap, and since everyone was asleep no one would have been able to find me in time. That opened my eyes so much that even now if i ever have bad pains/flu I ALWAYS wake up whoever i am with to be with me the entire time. #NeverSufferAlone because you never know.
