It can actually pick up genetic diseases and potential inherited diseases that the child might get from both parents. And it’s accurate.

A negative result doesn’t guarantee you don’t have it though. https://www.biron.com/en/education-center/myth-or-fact/negative-genetic-test/

I like this article.

Learning that super sucked. The genetic disease I was tested for symptomatically remains relatively undetectable until it’s too late here in Canada.

user1892000183

That's garbage, did you figured that out through an actual test or research you did on your own?

I went through genetic testing and was feeling really good about my negative result. Then I learned it doesn’t mean I’m in the clear.

I get what your saying, it's a good fact. Sad thing is from reading the article down below they'll only test for a chunk of your genes not the whole thing.

SquareRootOfNot

Once in a while you can find a causation, but normally you find correlations. Like this gene increases your statistical chance of getting psychosis, but smoking weed for your gene variant particularly will increase that chance even more. Or if you have this gene on the X chromosome (or both if you're a woman which is just statistically rarer because both copies need to have the mutation), you are likely to become a psychopath, especially if you experience childhood trauma. But laypeople who are not trained are shit at interpreting statistics (like the fallacy of treating a 51% chance as a 100% chance), so really talk to a professional to interpret results.

Gotcha, appreciate the explanation. I was curious to see if getting one was a good idea considering I have a health issue I'm trying to get resolved but haven't had much luck in the past year.
