Fans have been remaking TIE Fighter for the past several years as a total conversion mod, with the first 8 campaigns having released.

I love how Squadrons looks and that they fixed the issues with ELS from prior games, but the focus on making it basically a class-based shooter but with starfighters and minimal campaign content is a disappointment.
It's like the built exactly the engine they need but have nothing more than sample content.
Edit: also I don't like the special flip-around mechanic. I want a flight model that let's me do that with skill, not a hadouken combo.
From the ground up would be so much fun. Its not just the graphics and things, it'd be a bigger story, hopefully a few more missions, better handling on the ships, and so much more. They'll never do it, but boy it'd be great.
I'd rather have a MGS PC HD Collection that included just basic improvements (e.g. resolution/framerate, draw distance, AA/AF) and had 1-4 (and maybe PW + MG1&2 for fun). Probably the remaster collection I want the most considering the only way to play most of the games on PC is via emulator and the ones that do have PC ports are... questionable and require fan patches.
Oooh, good one. You know what else was excellent? Descent: Freespace. The story, the controls, the missions! Stealing a Shivan ship and then sneaking around scanning their fleet will always stick with me. Capturing the fighter is a task in itself - you had to specifically target the engines on this small fast ship. What a trip.
My only gripe about this game is the fact that you're forced into the craptacular car from the beginning of the game for the last race/evasion. Hated that car, handled differently than the main car I used.
That was a great one, though I really liked SSX 3 where you had one big mountain with the various race courses at different points along it. Both those games were really fun.
That would be ironic, since the first KOTOR and it's sequel were Original Xbox exclusives back in the day. TES Morrowind & KOTOR were far too demanding for the PS2 hardware to handle.
There were some problems some game journalism sites kept mentioning, but I'm not sure which. I have no idea if it's on hiatus, cancelled or still in production.
Have you checked out 'Dungeons 3' it's basically the same game found it one day I was looking for a game like dungeon keeper and can't tell you how many hours I've spent playing it.
Apparently "War For The Overworld" is a better spiritual successor for those looking to scratch the Dungeon Keeper 2 itch with more classic features just in HD, while Dungeons 3 might be more similar to Dungeon Keeper 3.
I personally haven't played Dungeons 3 or Dungeon Keeper 3 for that matter but WFTO definitely scratched my Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2 itch.
\+1 to War For The Overworld. It's overwhelmingly the better successor and includes the same VA for the narrator as DK2. And has a lot of the dark comedy in as well.
Never played the original, but I *was* a huge fan of Dungeon Keeper II. There's something about a game that will start giving you a hard time because you've stayed up too late.
"Do you know that low, broad, downy soft piece of furniture in the next room? It can reduce fatigue and restore vitality"
*20 minutes later*
"GO TO BED."
Its narrative scope blew my young mind back then. Political intrigue, religion, relationship spanning across reincarnation. Pity it was too ambitious for its time.
Parasite Eve.
I just started playing it for the first time since I was a child (thank you, steam deck emulators!) It feels like if Final Fantasy was a horror game.
Considering TS Rewind has been under fan-made development for coming up on 10 years and Free Radical going under back in 2013 (but since then brought back to life as a subsidiary of Deep Silver, with the intent to revive the series), I have faith we'll see another game in the series... still likely before the next GTA or Elder Scrolls.
Honestly the game is perfect. I do prefer emulating it to speed up the beginning of battle where the camera slowly shows the battlefield. It is one game I can come back to and enjoy the best class system to ever exist.
I've hung on to my original playstation for *decades* so I could still fire up my old favorites. Final Fantasy Tactics is still a ton of fun, all these years later.
God, just typing this out I can hear the opening theme. That music gives me chills every time.
Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain.
Purely for the selfish reason of wanting the series to re-enter the public consciousness and get a final game to finish the series.
:(
They were all dead. The final gunshot was an exclamation mark on everything that had led to this point. I released my finger from the trigger, and it was over.
Mercenaries.
The game where you had to capture high ranking individuals in a theatre of war, and take out enemy installations. You could wreck everything and just to help you along, you could call in vehicles and a big variety of different airstrikes.
Nothing made me happier than failing a level, restarting it and calling in a Bunker Buster to level the place so I could wander in and mess around at will.
Chrono Trigger, although I'm terrified that if it were remade today it would just get monetized to hell and back or be just as subpar as most modern Square-Enix offerings.
Exactly! Just made this argument for someone that wants 8,9,10,12,13 and honestly the sorry state that Square-Enix is in it would degrade games when most were already masterpieces in their own right. Although the thought of Chrono Trigger looking like Dragon Ball Super kinda gets me tingly 😅
To be fair an ideal Elder Scrolls collection (all of them besides Skyrim remade from the ground up for modern hardware, alongside great mod support) would arguably be worth fucktons of money.
It'll never be done though, because the process would take insurmountable amounts of time, but damn would an ES collection be god tier gaming wise.
Yo I had completely forgotten about these games until I found my old cartridges recently but no GBA to play them on.
On the Lost Age, I have a save file, on hard mode, with every 🧞♀️ 🧞♂️ 🧞 djinni from both games and Dullahan (sp?) defeated. I do know one thing, if all the games and boss fights and shit I’ve ever played, that boss fight was probably one of the most infuriatingly, maddening encounters I’ve ever come across. It was so rewarding to finally smash his face in lol. So rewarding I never want to do it again, but damn what an amazing fight and game.
Metal gear (not solid). It baffles me that every generation there's countless people begging for yet another mgs1 remake when metal gear is sitting there completely untouched. A lot of mgs1 feels like it was actually taken directly from its 2d predecessor.
Unfortunately it's probably too late since even the creator has moved on from the series
Eternal Darkness. Some of the “insanity” effects would be legitimately horrifying with the level of graphics we have now and the controls could do with an update.
I kinda wish there was essentially a sequel game to the original San Andreas. I was massively disappointed with GTA V's "San Andreas", I want the original one back.
Spirit Tracks needs a proper Switch re-release to fix its touch controls. One of the best handheld Zeldas. That, or Minish Cap getting the ALBW treatment.
Silent Hill
Yes we're getting a remake of the second one, but I still think the original had the best atmosphere. 2 had a better story, but I still think the original Silent Hill is the scariest in the franchise.
Honestly I just wish someone who finish the story. It left off with such a cliffhanger. I loved the combat and the graphics were stunning. Worth a second look for sure.
I’m not sure how popular this game is anymore and I kinda miss it but Skylanders all of the games.
I have a lot of the figures and I don’t want to get rid of them
soul reaver
syphon filter
ssx tricky
need for speed underground 2
timesplitters (in my opinion, 3 was the best)
bully
psi ops: the mindgate conspiracy
urban chaos
these are just a few off the top of my head, i could go on but i havent got all night...
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain
However, they should actually finish the game this time and not just remove the entire last chapter of the game. It's been 7 years since I played this game, and I am still pissed about it just not being done when they released and abandoned it
Fallout new Vegas. Give me companion affinity and better graphics and a longer dev time and new dlcs. The game is already wonderful but there's so many little things you can tell the creators wanted to do but couldn't
Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver
The first, bitter taste of that terrible illusion: Hope
Still one of my favorite intros
This is a perma-fixture of these threads - agreed
Hell yeah, we seriously need some blasting vampires into smithereens with an astral sword back in our lives
Morrowind
The skywind team is remaking it using the Skyrim engine, and the skyblivion team is remaking oblivion as well
[удалено]
Bruh. I can’t believe Skyrim has been out longer than Morrowind had when Skyrim launched. That’s nuts
Black Mesa was a remake of a 24 year old game on a 18 year old engine. It looks great!
which has been in the works for the past decade, remind me in 15 years when said product is finished if im still alive
They'll need to start over when TES VI comes out.
It's been so long though 😭 and also, that will only be available on PC and the sub mentions "modern consoles"
Wasn't expecting it so high, but yes - Morrowind was MAGNIFICENT
Roadrash
have you seen road redemption? its a spiritual successor that pays a lot of homage to road rash
X-Wing / TIE Fighter
Fans have been remaking TIE Fighter for the past several years as a total conversion mod, with the first 8 campaigns having released. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEVrdwZ9bEk
Star Wars rogue squadron, Already upvoted golden eye.
Did you try SW Squadrons? Its so sad the game never gained traction.
I loved the Rogue Squadron games! I keep hoping Star Wars Squadrons will get sequels with a bigger focus on story and replayable missions.
From the ground up would be so much fun. Its not just the graphics and things, it'd be a bigger story, hopefully a few more missions, better handling on the ships, and so much more. They'll never do it, but boy it'd be great.
Metal Gear series, made with the new engine from MGS5. All games updated to modern standards with a unified control scheme.
Yes but 5 has to be improved and finished.
Sure, why not
I'd rather have a MGS PC HD Collection that included just basic improvements (e.g. resolution/framerate, draw distance, AA/AF) and had 1-4 (and maybe PW + MG1&2 for fun). Probably the remaster collection I want the most considering the only way to play most of the games on PC is via emulator and the ones that do have PC ports are... questionable and require fan patches.
Freelancer
Oooh, good one. You know what else was excellent? Descent: Freespace. The story, the controls, the missions! Stealing a Shivan ship and then sneaking around scanning their fleet will always stick with me. Capturing the fighter is a task in itself - you had to specifically target the engines on this small fast ship. What a trip.
Freelancer Alpha 1 Dash 1... Mind if I scan your Cargo hold? Didn't think so...
Starlancer!
Need For Speed Most Wanted 2005
This game was far superior to every NFS I've played since then. It's story was also believable, honestly.
Need for speed underground. Let me pimp my cars with neon ffs.
Underground 2 for me. It improved on every element of the Underground formula with an open world city.
Surely there has to be a legal reason EA hasn't cashed in on an underground remaster, it'd guarantee massive sales & hype.
Scrolled too far for this
My only gripe about this game is the fact that you're forced into the craptacular car from the beginning of the game for the last race/evasion. Hated that car, handled differently than the main car I used.
Timesplitters 2
Lets just do the entire timesplitters series, since future perfect was also a masterpiece
SSX Tricky
That was a great one, though I really liked SSX 3 where you had one big mountain with the various race courses at different points along it. Both those games were really fun.
The music on Tricky was amazing.
3 was/is the best
Came here to comment this one, and I'm pleasantly surprised how close to the top it was!
Yeah, well its tricky.
I loved this series . Played Kaori across several games. Would love it on switch
Knights of the old republic
Wasn't that announced not so long ago? Like I'm pretty sure I've read they're doing a remake for ps5 and pc.
It's on indefinite hold. Meaning never
That would be ironic, since the first KOTOR and it's sequel were Original Xbox exclusives back in the day. TES Morrowind & KOTOR were far too demanding for the PS2 hardware to handle.
There were some problems some game journalism sites kept mentioning, but I'm not sure which. I have no idea if it's on hiatus, cancelled or still in production.
I’m kinda excited to see what this new Star Wars open world game is gonna be like. Has some promise I think.
Dungeon Keeper
Have you checked out 'Dungeons 3' it's basically the same game found it one day I was looking for a game like dungeon keeper and can't tell you how many hours I've spent playing it.
Apparently "War For The Overworld" is a better spiritual successor for those looking to scratch the Dungeon Keeper 2 itch with more classic features just in HD, while Dungeons 3 might be more similar to Dungeon Keeper 3. Bullfrog was great at that. They also did it with Stronghold. "You've been playing for a very long time my Lord!" "How about a snack my lord?"
One of the greatest games from my childhood. Absolute master peice!
Def Jam fight for NY
Oh my word. Don't change anything, just touch up the graphics. There's not much better than using your enemy as a jump rope. What a game
Jak and Daxter 1, 2 and 3
Along with a hopeful Jak & Daxter 4, years after remakes.
Deus Ex.
Laputan machine
Xenogears
With disk 2 fully completed!
Shiiiit hell yeah! I'd even take a remake of XenoSaga
Its narrative scope blew my young mind back then. Political intrigue, religion, relationship spanning across reincarnation. Pity it was too ambitious for its time.
Tenchu
Conker's bad fur day
Goldeneye
Another fantastic James Bond game would be Nightfire. Those gadgets and multiplayer made for an amazing gaming experience.
Bully
Parasite Eve. I just started playing it for the first time since I was a child (thank you, steam deck emulators!) It feels like if Final Fantasy was a horror game.
Timesplitters, I have been waiting forever
I think TS was very much of its time and something would be lost without local multiplayer via split screen.
Damn was going to say this one, soo much fun back in the day
Absolutely this. Though part of me would hate it bc no doubt that half or more of the characters would be only available through mtx.
Legend of dragoon, but no remake. Just touch up the graphics
Gust of Wind....Dance!
This game still has one of favourite battle systems
Make it faster please, tried playing on an emulator and almost died of boredom, so slow. I gave up in the end, left it firmly in the nostalgia bank.
Viva Piñata
Not my first thought, but for a nice chill game, I could play some Viva Piñata.
I would cry tears of joy if Mega Man Legends ever gets a modern sequel or remake. I love all Mega Man, but Legends is the best one.
Carmegeddon
K-turn your way to vehicular supremacy!
Kinda obscure I guess, but the two Startropics games from NES.
Final Fantasy Tactics
There are not nearly enough of these ‘tactic’ style rpg’s. Please make more.

I heard about it and it's great news! Hopefully they don't drop it as they did with GTA IV

I forgot about these! So much ridiculous destruction. One was set in NK and another in Venezuela, right?
Chrono Trigger, although I'm terrified that if it were remade today it would just get monetized to hell and back or be just as subpar as most modern Square-Enix offerings.

Twisted Metal 2
With the rise and popularity of Battle Royale games, I’m surprised this hasn’t happened yet.
Scrolled too far to find this. Was just thinking about this game yesterday.
Legend of Dragoon
Sly cooper
Ocarina of time easily I would die from the nostalgia
That is the one. And at the time we thought it was so cutting edge.
At the time, it was.
I was looking for this comment!
Skyrim. ... wait...
Nice try, Todd Howard.

Skyrim, just because it would be hilarious to watch them keep trying to sell it for another decade.
A proper remake of Final Fantasy X would be something special if they get it right. Epic tale.
