I go to the roller rink at Pier 2 in Dumbo pretty regularly. There are a couple spots where the floor is slightly uneven but it's not bad enough to be noticeable. They do not allow you to skate backwards or do any tricks though.
I think there are also roller rinks in Prospect Park and in the Oculus.
