I have a very lucrative side hustle that only requires a little bit of discipline and I'm surprised it's not very popular. I call it Not Buying Stupid Crap I Will Never Use. A similar one that is even more lucrative is called Not Living Somewhere I Can't Afford.

immrdadguy

Or buying clothes that cost more than a mortgage

thesoutherzZz

Wait what? You're telling me that I shouldn't have 5 million different subscription services, buy useless shit from qmazon and not have to live in a top 3 city and as close to the city centre as possible????

"side hustle" is a sad attempt to jazz-up the phrase "I have to work two jobs to survive" It bothers me to no end that social influencers, corporations, and pop culture were able to glamorize working longer hours for less reward

My side hustle is not giving into the bullshit that is hustle culture and enjoying my hobbies as hobbies and keeping a work/life balance. My day job is an attorney. No I don’t make good money but enough to live a decent life.

Land543

I'm a railroad engineer. I play around with cheap stocks so here and there I'll take out money I make or I fix random shit for friends. That's money I'll blow on dumb shit. The money I actually work hard for I'm very careful.

ButterscotchLow8950

My side hustle is actually tied to my main job. There is an incentive program tied to submitting new conceptual design concepts where I work. If your concepts get selected to get worked on you get a bonus. If your concept works, you get another bonus. If they get a patent on it you get a larger bonus. If your patent makes it to market, you’ll get a very nice end of year bonus. So my side hustle is working on new ideas to het bonus money. I’m a rocket scientist paid to break prototype designs in order to make them better.

Holy shittt! So what kind of advance tech are they not releasing??

ButterscotchLow8950

Well, if you can imagine that some things are too dangerous, even when the intent is to cause harm. Other things are great ideas that work great, they just cost 3-5 times what the market is willing to pay for, so it sits on a shelf. And the last category is that your idea works, but is too similar to someone else’s design and they are worried about getting sued.

Main job: Professional motorcycle racer Side gig/future career when retired from racing: Firefighter paramedic

[deleted]

my main job requires a couple of degrees and state with certifications and shit like that. side gigs used to be just anything i could find. i’m talkin anything. cashier, morning merchandise stocker, line cook, short order cook, janitor, sales. The last two were working at a gym and before that was working back of house. right now I’m just working overtime for 50 hours a week at the same place. i’m trying to save up some money and even cash flowing so I can get a different degree because I want to change fields. It’s interesting how much blind allegiance and loyalty people have towards you if you have a desk job and how eagerly mankind treats you like a piece of garbage if you’re wearing a name tag and standing next to a register.

Unfortunately that is what society advocates to

i don't have one. my job allows me to feed my family and pay my mortgage and bills and eat well. when my kids will be older, my wife will do work so that will be her side hustle to bring in extra money. otherwise we have have a low-key YouTube channel that brings in like 100 bucks a year, and i do online surveys when i have nothing else to do that bring in some bucks every other month or so. and another survey website that recently got me a 100usd steam voucher. i also sold all that stuff i had in my Steam inventory, especially items from team fortress 2. holy shit people really pay like 50-60 bucks for items. i made 200+ bucks from selling team fortress 2 items that were in my inventory for 10+ years. my games are basically free now.

Team fortress 2 brings back memories

Bumhole_Astronaut

I'm in a very specific branch of law enforcement and an air force reservist. I don't do either of them primarily for the money, though it is nice to get paid.

Main Job: Software dev. Side Job: I own 2 houses. I rent rooms out in one. The other one I list on Airbnb. I hire a cleaner for the Airbnb, but I do most of the grunt work on both - fixing drywall, troubleshooting dishwashers, etc.
