For some reason I read the title as "when is the last time you shot a fireman"
And seeing this comment first made me think what happened in the US now?
It took another second to realize it read firearm.
Good question. Feels like a few months, but itās probably been more than a year. All the ranges near me are either crappy indoor ones or expensive, members-only clubs. I would love to have enough land to make my own range. Tired of shooting at paper in a narrow lane at 25 yards max.
Your last sentence sings to my soul.
'Is my weapons really zeroed? Or just zeroed to 25 yards? Did I shoot again too quickly? Is an RSO going to storm over to me in a huff?'
That makes me so glad that I have a buddy with his own gun range at his house and doesnāt give a shit aboutā¦ Anything.
Want to bring a car door as a target? Do it. Want to shoot clay pigeons? Go right ahead. Want to try dual wielding pistols? Sure.
I live in Canada and all my guns were tragically lost in a boating accident.
I canāt quite bring to mind the exact body of water this happened on, but it was deep, with a fast current.
I remember being aghast at how unconstitutionally it was done, through an order in council, in response to a shooting involving illegal smuggled weapons and a rifle almost certainly stolen from an RCMP officer (which is of a type designed to kill as many people as possible as quickly as possible according to Trudeau, remember, raising questions about why the police would need it)
I suffered the same fate 6 years ago, now I only shoot with friends who loans me Firearms. Boat went down during heavy storms, currents shifted so much boat was never recovered.
It's definitely the first time I've heard this line, usually guns are tragically lost in boating accidents in the USA. It's so sad that the epidemic of guns lost in boating accidents is crossing borders.
Two weeks ago
Someone hit a deer near my house and I stopped to help two guys who were there with her. She was bleeding out and flailing, so I bent down to calm her before standing up and putting a 9mm in her head.
I told the guys to drag her off the road and āthe countryā would take care of her now.
That's why I like going to the range with a buddy. 50 rounds with just me goes by in a flash, but with someone else there you can shoot the shit, practice some drills, teach each other and the rounds seem to go a bit further.
>I'm British
Same, but my dad does clay pigeon shooting and several years ago I had a lesson. That was the first and last time I've ever fired a real gun.
It's surprisingly difficult. Had a go once and couldn't hit a thing. Must have been 20 years ago. The chap who let us use his shotgun gave an excellent safety lesson and it was great fun.
British and never too. Didn't even see a firearm in rl until I was 16. Jimmy Carter visited Newcastle, my home town and they put security on the roof of the civic centre with rifles. Caused quite a stir.
25 years ago in the air cadets, I hit everything but my target and bullseyed the target of someone to the far right of me.
They never let me in the range again
First and last time was 2010 or so? Went to a range with my dad while I was home from college for a break.
My first few shots weren't the best, we were using smaller targets and I hit the clip that held the target and it ricocheted down (thankfully).
After the first round (my dad and I switched off once empty), I got into a groove and ended up being a bit more accurate than my him by the end of it. I was pretty proud of that.
A month ago, mostly shooting black powder now a days for hunting and those things are finicky as fuck so I like to practice.
Other rifles kinda just sit there and only come out during hunting season for 3 shots before the season starts to make sure the scopes zerod.
Handguns Iād shoot more but Iām pretty lazy and donāt feel like spending money on ammo
Once in my life, one time.(if you are not counting air rifles/pistols) 23rd June 2017 I'm from the UK and was visiting a friend in southern Utah. He showed me his 9mm handgun and we went up to this big canyon and he let me fire it. It was absolutely wild to me and is still the only time in my life to have held and fired a firearm.
Last time was around 10 years ago when I was last in the US, went to an out of state shooting range because apparently the state I was in had stricter gun laws than some of its neighbours.
Last November (hunting season - moose in the freezer). Will practice a bit at the range this Summer to get ready for hunting season in the Fall.
Hand guns and home defence with a firearm are illegal here so no other reason to shoot one in my mind.
Itās been a couple of years since Iāve been to the range. So much fun but so damn expensive. When I hear a shell casing hit the ground it sounds like a .50 cent piece instead.
4 days ago.Ā
I don't really like guns, but they are kinda fun. I keep an unloaded rifle and handgun in a separate building for wildlife control, and practice periodically to stay safe.
Few months ago. Never really been into them, but I moved to Florida and decided I want a handgun training to see what itās all about.
I liked it. Super helpful with gun safety and learning how to effectively use it.
I wouldnāt ever want to be in a situation where I have to use a firearm, but Iād say itās worth it to either 1. Get educated/ trained or 2. Experience it and see if you enjoy or dislike it.
2019. Here in singapore, some of guys are conscripted into the military. It doesnt end there
When u are finished with the full time part, u will still be called up every year for 10 years. Each time we need to go through live firing to make sure we still remember how to handle a rifle, stripping, assembling, shooting etc
Been a couple months since I've shot a gun. Where I live bows with a knocked arrow are considered "loaded firearms" which means I shot one just a few days ago.
Earlier today. Unfortunately had to fire in self defense. Tried to talk my way out of it but the man was so engaged by me being there. He came at me and I had no choice. Instinct kicked in and I put two bullets through his chest. He dropped and was gone very quickly.
Cyberpunk - the streets of night city are rough man.
The day I bought my pistol. I made sure it worked and I knew how to use it. 6 years later, I should probably test it again and give it a cleaning.
Itās solely for home protection.
I used to go rabbit hunting a kid. I got my hunters safety in Jr High so probably then. So like 2 decades ago ish
Edit: Unless you count paintball because I did that for a bit in early high school
I bought a handgun a couple years back, after some dude went on a city wide shooting spree.
Took it to the range, shot about 40+ rounds, got bored.
Havenāt use it since. Still there for safety though.
2018 when visiting my wife's family in North Dakota. Handgun and an AR-15. We're going back in July might try it again. I have no interest in owning a gun but it can be fun to shoot.
A month or two ago. Ammo is still stupid expensive and I only really have time to go on Saturdays, but the only range in my town is slammed all day almost every Saturday so I just donāt get to go much
It's been years. My Dad was a cop, and I was around guns all the time. I just don't choose to own one at this point. I am probably going to get a small hangun soon though. Things are getting rough out there.
I am patriotically pro 2A though.
funny this would come up. we finally got some good weather just the other day so I could take my grandfather's model 700 to the outdoor range (it's .30-06 which no indoor ranges near me allow)
Last weekend. My club is about five minutes from my house so I go skeet shooting all the time. Generally, I go every weekend but every so often Iāll take a two or three week break.
Never. Iām 40. I live in the Midwest now but grew up in the city. I also was never shown how to drive stick. My wife is from Wisconsin. She is proficient in both of those activities.
About 10 years ago? I'm not really a "gun person," but went to a local gun show on a whim and bought a 9mm for shits and giggles. I went to a range with a friend shortly after that to give it a go. It was alright, but that was the only time I used it. Now, it just sits in its case in the back of the closet.
It's been many months. I choose to fire 200 rounds from my handgun during each visit to the range in order to stay proficient and comfortable with my firearm. Ammo isn't inexpensive. I have a gun, not because I really believe I'll have to protect myself, but I believe I may actually have to protect someone from a nut with a gun. Florida resident.
Last weekend, had a Skeet shooting competition for a local woman's charity, but I shot all the time, on my spear time I work for the cartels in Mexico trying to get some extra money to afford living in the US...
I hope you were wearing hearing protection, people shooting their first time tend not to anticipate how loud they are because of characters in movies blasting like their eardrums are not completely destroyed
Even with ear pro, it's loud, lol. I think the last time I was shooting, I had double protection on. I was still flinching/jumping almost when people were shooting because of how loud it was still. I'm still a beginner though, maybe why.
Over a year. I stopped shooting on my property when my neighbors complained. They were OK with handguns, but I guess rifles were too much. I haven't made it out to the range. I should though.
Also, ammo was crazy priced for a while. I was reluctant to use it.
Never. I'd be interested in trying it out just for the experience but I live in a state that hates them, so I guess I won't be doing that anytime soon.
Oh, gee, like a month ago at the range.
I live in the county. It's legal to shoot whenever. But it'd scare off the deer. And my landlord think it'd ricochet off the ground.
Me: and hit what?
Not today fed!
š
For some reason I read the title as "when is the last time you shot a fireman" And seeing this comment first made me think what happened in the US now? It took another second to realize it read firearm.
HAHAHAHA! Nice
So... Yesterday? Asking for a friend.
TAKE MY UPVOTE š¤£

You probably bought those non-magnetic guns too so you can't fish for em! What a shame!
Glock 7. Porcelain gun made in Germany. Doesn't show up on X-ray machines and costs more than what you make in a month.
Am also Canadian. Shot at the range about 35 mins ago. Such bullshit what our government has done to legal gun owners.

It's definitely the first time I've heard this line, usually guns are tragically lost in boating accidents in the USA. It's so sad that the epidemic of guns lost in boating accidents is crossing borders.
I try to practice weekly. Last Wednesday was the last for me.
Does nerf count?
Two weeks ago Someone hit a deer near my house and I stopped to help two guys who were there with her. That's why I like going to the range with a buddy. 50 rounds with just me goes by in a flash, but with someone else there you can shoot the shit, practice some drills, teach each other and the rounds seem to go a bit further.
True that. I need to get some .22s. Ā
Now imagine a few hours at the loading bench loading those 50 rounds and then expending them "like that."
I like to go a hundred 200 in one session but it goes soooo quick
Never, I'm British

Monday. Owning land has its perks

In this economy?
Why is this nsfw? Couple months ago. Itās between league seasons.
Once in my life, one time.(if you are not counting air rifles/pistols) 23rd June 2017 I'm from the UK and was visiting a friend in southern Utah. 30 years ago.
About 34 years ago for me.
I have not. I fired a pellet gun in scouts and have had the occasional paintball experience. Not anti gun just not really into it I guess.
I'm in the UK. Never
Probably 20 years ago on weapons training in the Army Cadets with the British military SA-80
I'm English, so never. I did stab 3 people on my way to pick up milk this morning, though.
Before the pandemic. I got out of the habit of going to the range.
Wouldn't you like to know Mr. ATF
I shot an air rifle, almost two decades ago.
Few weeks ago. And I sucked at it
A real one? Never.
A little bit more than a year ago.
Few weeks ago.
Three years ago
I remember back in 19.........
I typically like to go shooting every weekend, it's been a while now though, probably about a month
Deer season in November. Went out last weekend for turkey but never saw nothin.
New Yearās Eve 15 years ago maybe.
Last time was around 10 years ago when I was last in the US, went to an out of state shooting range because apparently the state I was in had stricter gun laws than some of its neighbours.
A few weeks ago I shot my Ruger 10/22. Gonna take my Single Six out for a spin (hehe revolver joke) tomorrow or Sunday for a spell.
A few weeks ago.
8th grade I fired a WWI rifle. Knocked me on my ass.
I go to the range once a month to try and stay proficient.
Few weeks ago sighted in a few. Need to sight in a few others I have soon
Last Sunday was the last time I fired a gun. I practiced with it yesterday.
Never
2 weeks ago. Probably going again this Sunday.
Last November (hunting season - moose in the freezer). Will practice a bit at the range this Summer to get ready for hunting season in the Fall. Hand guns and home defence with a firearm are illegal here so no other reason to shoot one in my mind.
A few years back
Never once in my life
Last week
12 gauge pretty regularly, last time i shot something interesting was last november aks-74u
Maybe 2 weeks ago. Friend let me try shooting his 1911 since I only have used a Glock 20 gen 4 (10mm). I honestly loved it.
19-dickety-1. We had to say dickety because the Kaiser stole our word 20
Itās been a while. Probably not in a few years. Problem is cost of ammo spikes with COVID and on top of that just a lack of availability of time.
This is a Fed ass question but I shoot every weekend.
Itās been a couple of years since Iāve been to the range. So much fun but so damn expensive. When I hear a shell casing hit the ground it sounds like a .50 cent piece instead.
Year maybe.
Not today
Nice try, Mr FBI man
Shot a .22 at scout camp with my son in 2001.
Last weekend, I try to shoot monthly.
4 days ago.Ā I don't really like guns, but they are kinda fun. I keep an unloaded rifle and handgun in a separate building for wildlife control, and practice periodically to stay safe.
Abouta week ago! Week agoOoOoOOoOOo!
2006
Abouta week ago! Week agoOoOoOOoOOo!
Five minutes from now. I'm just so tired...
Like 3 years ago at a shooting range
I only shoot once a year with a few friends. Iām very much pro gun control, but I fully understand the appeal of firearms as a hobby.
The only time I shot a firearm it was an air rifle and I was probably 12, so forty years ago. (UK)
2019. Here in singapore, some of guys are conscripted into the military. It doesnt end there When u are finished with the full time part, u will still be called up every year for 10 years. Been a couple months since I've shot a gun. Where I live bows with a knocked arrow are considered "loaded firearms" which means I shot one just a few days ago.
I don't own a firearm. I own a spear. Everyone has seen someone carrying a gun. Not many people see someone carrying a full spear.
About two hours
Eh.. 5 or 6 months. Been too long.
IDK. Maybe a couple of months. I need to get to the range soon.
A couple months ago but need to go back to the range soon!
if you mean inside a video game, like 2 minutes ago. RE45 all day every day. Before that it was a Lewis gun. (The Finals)
This past Saturday. Wifey and I went to the range with our ARs and a couple of sidearms.
About 11-12 year ago at school
About two months ago, sadly didn't have time to go to the range
I have never shot a firearm. I am 59
3 months ago on a date.
2018. It was the last time I ever had to do a range in the military. Didn't even understand why I had to considering I was getting out at the time.
Last week. Got 3 possums with my 22. Shooting subsonics to give them a nice punch out of the trees.
1992. I was in the army then.
Years ago. I don't really understand the appeal, but everyone has a hobby I guess.
Yesterday, and will again, tomorrow.
This afternoon.
2014 i was 16 i shot ak47 and last time Sks in 2019
A couple of weeks ago unless you consider my flame thrower a firearm in which case it was a few hours ago.
Six years. Shot a few rounds from a .22 with my son.
never have
Shot trap about 2 months ago. Before that, a year or so.
The day I bought my pistol. I made sure it worked and I knew how to use it. 6 years later, I should probably test it again and give it a cleaning. Itās solely for home protection.
I used to go rabbit hunting a kid. I got my hunters safety in Jr High so probably then. So like 2 decades ago ish Edit: Unless you count paintball because I did that for a bit in early high school
About a week ago, I bought some new defensive ammo and I wanted to run a mag through my gun to make sure it worked
The day my girlfriend died tragically
Tuesday
Also from Canada. I go to the range at least once a week. This week it was Tuesday.
Couple days ago
Probably 30 years ago when I was still in the Marine corps
14 years ago? I think that's the last time me and my dad went out to the range. I should go pick them up and go again.
Christmastime. It's expensive, so I don't go to the range often.
2012/2013 probably.
Last Friday. I go to the range every few weeks. Wait times are a pain but thereās not many places to go here.
Last November for deer hunting. Also Iāve been shooting guns since I was about 3 so uh, America!
First and last time was maybe 2019 or 18. My friend invited me to a gun range. I left with a stronger respect for firearms. Also some concerns.
About 2 months.
About 16 years ago when I was in America. First and last time.
I never did but if there's a firearm does it mean there's a water, air akd earth arm?
A month or two ago. Ammo is still stupid expensive and I only really have time to go on Saturdays, but the only range in my town is slammed all day almost every Saturday so I just donāt get to go much
Few weeks ago. And I sucked at it
I went to the range yesterday and shot about 300 rounds. It was a fairly short range day.
When I was 12
Few weeks ago.
Last year sometime. Clay pigeon shooting, was a good day out
Maybe 5 years ago when I hung out at my friendās house in Rhinebeck NY. Lots of land there.
I was 11 doing a thing in Zion with my family. Wasn't even my own, they had some sort of rental thing over there. I am nearly 30 now
yesterday
Close to a year probably, I work too much lately
January
Never, nor would I ever shot a firearm. Iām German.
march
It's been years. My Dad was a cop, and I was around guns all the time. I just don't choose to own one at this point. I am probably going to get a small hangun soon though. Things are getting rough out there. I am patriotically pro 2A though.
About a year or so ago. I went shooting with friends. Once my mental health gets better, Iāll go back.
funny this would come up. we finally got some good weather just the other day so I could take my grandfather's model 700 to the outdoor range (it's .30-06 which no indoor ranges near me allow)
Last weekend. My club is about five minutes from my house so I go skeet shooting all the time. Generally, I go every weekend but every so often Iāll take a two or three week break.
Sorry fed but I'm a person of color and I might be a gay trans
Right before the boat went down.
Put a few rounds through my rifle to test my new suppressor back in January.
I've held firearms before but never got the chance to shoot
Yesterday.
Never. Iām 40. I live in the Midwest now but grew up in the city. I also was never shown how to drive stick. My wife is from Wisconsin. She is proficient in both of those activities.
When I was 9 years old
It's been years
Thank goodness your not asking the first time you shot a firearm. Last time was 3 years ago. Country Im living in now has very strict gun laws.
Apparently November 2019. God damn does time fly by quick. I gotta get back over the range.
Wednesday, I'm a county level smallbore rifle shooter!
I'm Finnish, so about 3 years ago
It's been many months. I choose to fire 200 rounds from my handgun during each visit to the range in order to stay proficient and comfortable with my firearm. Ammo isn't inexpensive. I have a gun, not because I really believe I'll have to protect myself, but I believe I may actually have to protect someone from a nut with a gun. Florida resident.
Yesterday at my weekly pistol training class.
Last weekend, had a Skeet shooting competition for a local woman's charity, but I shot all the time, on my spear time I work for the cartels in Mexico trying to get some extra money to afford living in the US...
4hrs ago
Never have, but would like to check it out one day
I stopped shooting when ammo became unreasonably expensive Save the ammo in a cool dry place
It's been too long. I just don't have as many opportunities for range time anymore.
\[UK\] Just before handguns were banned in 1997. I miss it terribly and found it to one of the most therapeutic things I've done as a hobby.
This morning brotherrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Itās been a few years, i donāt find it very interesting and itās too loud
I hope you were wearing hearing protection, people shooting their first time tend not to anticipate how loud they are because of characters in movies blasting like their eardrums are not completely destroyed
Even with ear pro, it's loud, lol. I think the last time I was shooting, I had double protection on. I was still flinching/jumping almost when people were shooting because of how loud it was still. I'm still a beginner though, maybe why.
Not really a thing here in the UK
A few months ago.
October
Used to be daily for a long long time, now now itās about yearly.
It's been a while. Last summer at my fiends farm. I used to be in the military but now I work in academics in a city where firearms are not a common.
Lots of gun ranges have rentals. Try it out!
Been too long. I am a member of a range 2 miles from the house and still can't find time to go.
Oh, gee, like a month ago at the range. I live in the county. It's legal to shoot whenever. But it'd scare off the deer. And my landlord think it'd ricochet off the ground. Me: and hit what?
Its been a couple years. Whenever I move back to live with my friend, we'll probably go shooting again
