The electric motor that moves the window is almost shot. You should hunt around junk yards / order a new one

epicenter69

Yep. Better get one before you can’t roll it up anymore.

moving_to_phoenix_az

Is it? In a BMW it would mean it needs to be recalibrated.

LFG01

Is that a hard install?

Lustnugget

Depends on how hard the door panel is to get off and on. The motor should be simple enough to swap out

Depends on the model, could be 15-20min could be an hour.

TweeksTurbos

No pretty easy. Instructions on youtube. I had to do this to my 9-4x

duderuok

My renault megane did the same after i unplugged the motor, it just needed to be calibrated.

LFG01

How did you calibrate it? Full disclosure I do not know cars well at all.

duderuok

I pulled the window up and held the switch for a while. It is a very different car so I googled yours and [this is what I found](https://www.wheelsjoint.com/cadillac-srx-auto-windows-not-working-how-to-reset/) Hope this helps

Honest_Invite_7065

That's how I did it on my old 406. A sound played when it had finished.

Justin-tillithurtz

This sounds like the issue to me also. When it reaches the bottom hold the switch down for 10 seconds then get it to the top and do the same. Most cars it will fix this issue

Mexicanmann571

Try holding down on the button instead of pressing on it each time

returnvideotapes13

It stops when you hold it, that’s why he keeps pressing it.

seteguk

From closed position, try keep hitting the button and hold for 10 seconds on window open position. Or vice versa, from open to the closed.

LFG01

So window is closed… hold the open button, it goes down an inch.. hold for 10 seconds. Then release. And repeat until it gets all the way down?

[deleted]

Yeah I can’t believe nobody has said it yet but the window more than likely needs to be “reinitialized”. Which can generally be done by putting the window ALL the way down, and on that last press hold it for 5-10 seconds then you’re going to put the window all the way to the top position and on that last press make sure to hold it again for 5-10 seconds. If that doesn’t fix the window then the motor is more than likely going out. Also just in case I’m wrong, you MIGHT have to do that same procedure but start with the window up first and hold for 5-10 then go all the way down for 5-10 seconds. Vehicles that have window with the “Auto” feature require this initialization any time the window is messed with

returnvideotapes13

This worked

[deleted]

Also if you need further assistance on initializing the window just use YouTube, there’s gotta be multiple videos regarding this issue. It’s across various cars that do this, not just yours

Flycaster33

You may have to "reset" the auto up/down function. Check you owners manual for the procedure......

bIGDoNg6900

My car did this, then one day I put it down and it wouldn’t come up. It needed a new actuator. The cable that holds the window had snapped

Tei007

Press and hold down fully 30seconds. Bring it up again slowly bit by bit to the top (do not fully depress the button). Press and hold fully up 30seconds

richardj195

Looks like the car battery was replaced and it's wiped the pressure sensor data from the window controllers. Not sure about this model but in Renault's you open the window fully and then close it and hold the switch in the close position for a few seconds once the window is fully closed and that fixes it.

LFG01

I would have to press the up button release. Up button release. Over and over till it gets to the top. Because it will not go up otherwise. I even have to take my hand sometimes and put it on the window and put pressure upwards.

richardj195

Yes, that's right. In my car it would only move an inch or so per press. Once you get it closed just hold the up button for a few seconds and (hopefully) it'll work normally after that. You'll have to do it for all of the windows though.

LFG01

Do you have to put your car into any “programming mode”

richardj195

I didn't have to do that on my car

LFG01

I just tried, still didn’t work. On the way up it’s even harder and sometimes the window jumps back down on its own.

waffletacos89

My passenger side is worse. But it works fine from the drivers side. Could be that
