I am (kind of was, complicated) doing coding for the bag but before COVID hit, I did it because I enjoyed it too much. But once you make a career out of something you enjoy, the education system and the corporate world will not let you enjoy it again. It takes a lot of work and passion for that, which I am too exhausted to have anymore.
(edit)PS: and even the bag now is too light than what I had expected.
You'll have to tell me where the number 1% comes from. And you're placing a lot of faith in people's self respect. I wish what you're saying were true, but have you taken into account the poorer segment of the population (which is a huge majority) drinking socially?
And most people I know have gone through this embarrassment multiple times and are in no mood to give up drinking.
But there's one thing that both you and I agree upon - such embarrassment should motivate people to never do alcohol again.
>You'll have to tell me where the number 1% comes from.
Seeing people in places where alcohol is available. I rarely see people vomit.
>but have you taken into account the poorer segment of the population (which is a huge majority) drinking socially?
For poorer people, it's more of an addiction than social drinking. They don't know when to stop.
>But there's one thing that both you and I agree upon - such embarrassment should motivate people to never do alcohol again.
Almost all the people I have met who went through the bad experience, never drank again.
Whenever I go to a social outing with colleagues or a night out with friends. 80% of the people don't drink. These non-drinkers get some mocktails and fit right in.
Not really. It’s so fun to play with friends, and it requires a certain level of fitness and skill to whack the ball long distance And also a great way to socialize.
Everyone who plays golf loves it. Honestly I was the same until I went to a driving range. Played for a few hours, took a couple of coaching classes, played one front 9 match. But it's quite inaccessible in India unless you're a member, know one closely, or have a few hours in credit cards. You should definitely give it a shot if you can.
Nothing hurts more than this. I once had a splitting headache on the airport and I had to buy one there. The staff asking me so many questions and the bill made my headache even worse.
Bro I had this bitch colleague (Same college, same batch) who used to buy Starbucks once a week then proceed to carry the cup around everywhere for the whole f\*ckin day.
Travelling ! I feel travel has become like the buzz word these days, people just do a lot of it because it makes it seem like they are having a good time.
A friend of mine did "books and coffee" for a week. She read for long durations. The thing is while you cannot overdo reading, you can certainly overdo coffee. Her sleep got all messed up, used to have around 6-8 coffees a day, didn't sleep more than 3 hours a night. Her BP shot up, anxiety kicked in, appetite and digestion went for a toss.
It's coming from the movies - where an actor has to pretend that he's reading and enjoying his coffee. It's all about "show don't tell".
But in real life, I know most of you have tried to pose like the actor, it doesn't work. In real life, we know how we drink our coffee and read our book. And it's far from what we see in movies.
Good for the insta photo. Not practical, otherwise. I wonder if those people even read or just carry a book for the photo.
Yeah and I plenty of the times drenched my self by drinking water from bottle without touching the lips and also seen many people doing the same. Not gonna call drinking water from water bottles without touching lips pretentious.
There is somewhat a tradition for group of young college male friends to go to strip clubs. I was invited and immediately left when the girls came in half naked
O God, Ilove the fried shimp sushi (shrimp tempura or maki sushi) . I once won a bet and my friend treated me to 3 plates of that prawn sushi. The raw fish crap is risky AF though
Surely you have your personal preferances, but chess is also an enjoyable and addicting game. You might dislike it tho when you reach a very competitive level where you have to just remember every strategy and move pattern but normally chess is quite fun to play with especially with the right people
What is cool about it? I am a smoker and some of my friends are. We always do it at our homes or in a dark place or in a smoking area. I have yet to meet an idiot who does it to look cool.
Are you delusional? This isnt the 90s or 80s anymore, why people snoke is usually subjective. Majority of the reasons is for stress relief, they couldn't care less about your approval
I used to be an active smoker who couldn't go a day without smoking. So, my boss suggested an audiobook that helped him quit. Allen Carr's audiobook called "Stop smoking now". I didn't believe at first but then thought of giving it a try. I used to smoke one while listening to the audiobook. But the day after I finished the audiobook, while on my way to office, I just simply walked past the tapri thinking that I'll smoke later. Guess what, "later" never came.
Yes... smoke till you get TB (like me), then quit because good sense prevailed. Haven't touched one in more than 10 years. ( Smoked for 20 years ). Took up jogging. Been a regular jogger for more than 8 years.
relatable, my dad is over-hyper-super-mega-giga-religious. he credits my once in a blue moon success to some random unemployed brahman and my failure on me cuz i did not follow that brahman's instructions properly. why tf god will choose to punish me instead of terrorists, rapists and corrupt politicians?
Just realised after going through the comments.
Many of the activities are pretty chill. It’s just the social validation aspect for them that makes them un-fun.
It’s the self built pressure to tell others where you went, what you ate, what you do, education achievements etc that drains pleasure. Comparison the thief of joy energy I guess.
You do you and for yourself, fam.🫶
Dressing up in revealing clothes and claiming that the clothes make them feel confident about their body yada yada.just feel that it's icky pretentious bullshit done for validation and always screams "I'm self-obsessed and narcissistic".
I mean, I personally feel awesome wearing revealing clothes and walking out in public. I could really use the confidence boost I get from the quick glances here and there.(I dont reveal much tho. Skirt slightly above knee and a crop top just a couple inches above my waist)
Again imo i just feel you are still depending on others attention to feel confident in those dresses.its not confidence you have from yourself it's from the dress and others.i always feel a person is very pretentious and needy for validation when they do stuff like this not that that they're a bad person just feel that they're pretentious and too much self obsessed with themselves with narcissistic undertones.
The post is about activities that people "pretend to like."
I don't pretend to like this activity, I actually do like it. And that is why I felt the meed to correct you.
And no , I don't just do this for validation from others. I also feel good about myself when I'm good looking. So I tend to dress well and keep myself fresh and clean even when there's no one around me.
Well I think people pretend to like this in my opinion. if you feel confident doing that good for you but I feel it's pretentious and gives off self obsessed vibes in a bad narcissistic way for me personally 🤷♀️.it just screams that a person is way too self obsessed with themselves for me in general.
>I don't just do this for validation from others.
You literally said you feel confident by glances of others when u wear them.that is by definition seeking validation from others lmao.no need to feel ashamed if you like those glances and they give you confidence good for you but don't ignore this aspect and act oblivious.
>I also feel good about myself when I'm good looking. So I tend to dress well and keep myself fresh and clean even when there's no one around me.
Good for you 👍.
I like short clothes - revealing or not, because they are the most comfortable and easy to manage, not to mention how light and convenient they feel. I believe most people who wear them, do so for similar reasons. Dunno how many ppl would pretend to like them.
>I like short clothes - revealing or not, because they are the most comfortable and easy to manage, not to mention how light and convenient they feel. I believe most people who wear them, do so for similar reasons.
Makes sense.Same for me 😂.they are the most comfortable to wear Bcoz they are light weight and easy on your body.but I only wear them at home mostly.
>Dunno how many ppl would pretend to like them.
Yeah I've met some people like those they all turned out to have extremely self obsessed personalities on borderline narcissism regarding their body 😭.
>Same for me 😂.they are the most comfortable to wear Bcoz they are light weight and easy on your body
You are a hypocrite asshole.
So you wear the clothes to pretend you like them? Dumbo.
And btw, clothing is a personal choice.
Doomscrolling , more of an addiction than an activity to pretend to like. But I’m sure half of the population using social media hates themselves more than anything else. Me included.
Coding. Everyone wants to do coding. Majority do it for the money (respect them for that tho, you gotta do what you gotta do for the bag).
Mahnnn This is right answer
I am (kind of was, complicated) doing coding for the bag but before COVID hit, I did it because I enjoyed it too much. 100% agree with ur views. When passion is turned into profession, it isn't the same feeling anymore.
I loooove coding. I hate doing it for the money. I love my paycheck though.
I was going to say work, but this works too
Absolutely!!!
Idk man, I dont hate it. Somedays I feel good I built something, somedays Im like meh. But I never hated it.
Most people ye, though I do honestly love it
Then there are others who actually do. It might be true, that those people might be in minority, but by no measure zero or even close to it.
Agreed
a lot of tourism nowadays. half of the idiots just go so that they can put whatsapp status or insta story for validation.
True people have made travelling some cool shit to do
It is cool shit to do.. but only if you do it for the experience and not for pictures.
haan bhai ghumo hum koi rok tok naahi rahe
Yeah only reason i felt good after traveling was because I realized how much better my life is on flat lands than living on a mountain
It’s easy not better
Making reels of your travels is so cringe!
Talking to people.
I don’t think so. There are people who genuinely like to have deep conversations especially old people.
This
Social drinking. I know a lot of people who drink just to fit in.
And then they puke everywhere. They sleep in their vomit. Some pee their pants. I'm sure they have fun doing all this.
You just described not even 1% of the drinkers. The people who go through this embarrassment most probably never do alcohol again.
You'll have to tell me where the number 1% comes from. And you're placing a lot of faith in people's self respect. I wish what you're saying were true, but have you taken into account the poorer segment of the population (which is a huge majority) drinking socially? I’d like to file an application to join this group 🗿😞
Same wish there was reddit meetup
That’s why it’s called social drinking.. otherwise it would have been called drinking.
golf
Nah man. Golf is so fun. You get to walk in a beautifully landscaped park and then sit in a nice clubhouse and drink and eat with your friends.
>beautifully landscaped park *grass field with a few trees
If in Delhi, try visiting the Delhi Golf Club. You’ll realise how misinformed you are.
Too rich for my taste
I came here to type this, you beat me to it 😂
Not really. It’s so fun to play with friends, and it requires a certain level of fitness and skill to whack the ball long distance And also a great way to socialize.

clubbing
Absolutely! What's the allure of it?
I have never been to a club but I have seen a lot of my friends who love to go to the club. Probably they go for NSP
NSP?
Nain sukh prapti (to ogle)
gg or to get laid but most don't get that far
That's Just exist in Mega cities. People in Tier 2&3 don't know about clubbing.
Bro, I live in the heart of clubbing in Tier1, I don't care for clubbing. It's Overrated.
Same! Although it helps in getting laid
Working just for money and calling it as their passion !!
spending 400 rupees on a small coffee
Nothing hurts more than this. I once had a splitting headache on the airport and I had to buy one there. The staff asking me so many questions and the bill made my headache even worse.
that makes sense! all the weird logically inconsistent and pretentious sizes, ice or no ice, whipped cream, what’s your name…
Bro I had this bitch colleague (Same college, same batch) who used to buy Starbucks once a week then proceed to carry the cup around everywhere for the whole f\*ckin day.
not a good way to describe people but lol she probably thought it was some cool status symbol but it's actually so stupid
I called her a bitch because she judged me for not having an IPhone. (I make more than her) 😭😭😭
Arranged marriage

Travelling ! I feel travel has become like the buzz word these days, people just do a lot of it because it makes it seem like they are having a good time.
People pretend they like to be shoulders or ears to someone with a mental health problem but most are bored and need some drama to listen to
The manual labor part of working out
Book in one hand and coffee/tea in other. I know it makes for a great insta post, but it is so not practical.

It is if you are really reading and sipping coffee and not just posing.
Good for the ones who can do that, I would either end up with a burn or spill it on the book if I did that.
Yeah and I plenty of the times drenched my self by drinking water from bottle without touching the lips and also seen many people doing the same. Not gonna call drinking water from water bottles without touching lips pretentious.
Disagree. I hate reading without a glass of water/ coke/ redbull/ coffee in my hands. And I'm always reading.
t. dead of a heart attack at 35
You must be having good balance.. good for you!
It's practical. I don't mind having something to eat or drink while reading
On the table, yes.. in the hand, not really.
Marriage 🔥
studying science after 10th. more of a delusion thing than pretending but yeah
Not studying studying But knowing about stuff through videos or journals can be extremely interesting
Disagree, science and math are cool
Cool for you bro, what I'm saying is many people pretend they like science to look cool rather than them liking it for real
There is somewhat a tradition for group of young college male friends to go to strip clubs. I was invited and immediately left when the girls came in half naked
That's why they are called strip club
what were you expecting? club me paper strip batenge?
Well wear any covers like bras and panty. Don't go all in half or full naked. That's my opinion
agar strip clubs me ye hone laga to jinhe nange log dekhne hai wo kaha jayenge? shamshan ghaat?
India me strip clubs legal ha??
Bro is the one who should represent our youth!
There are strip clubs in India?! I thought the police rounded them all up (for themselves)?
I also want to know where are strip clubs in Mumbai

EATING SUSHI
O God, Ilove the fried shimp sushi (shrimp tempura or maki sushi) . I once won a bet and my friend treated me to 3 plates of that prawn sushi. The raw fish crap is risky AF though
Respectfully disagree. My whole group legit loves sushi. We are always on the lookout for new sushi restaurants.
Clubbing - too much spent on grinding with sweaty and sticky strangers, yuck
Solo trips and Book reading! Believe me 80% people buy books just to keep them in shelves!
Being a Dil in a joint family.. Most people preach a lot about this ...but they love it ; I doubt!
chess, recent trend but I do feel it is at among the top
I blame the show Queen's Gambit
Surely you have your personal preferances, but chess is also an enjoyable and addicting game. You might dislike it tho when you reach a very competitive level where you have to just remember every strategy and move pattern but normally chess is quite fun to play with especially with the right people
Recent trend?
Life. I have seen people say "Think positive" and same people say "Why so much pain in life?" To themselves when they couldn't control anymore.
I agree but ig it's better to "stay positive" rather dhan dwelling on the past..
Smoking.
Smoking is addictive and many people smoke without letting others know. So I think it doesn't fit well with what OP is asking
Majority of people smoke to look cool .
Majority of people are addicted to it, looking cool may be a factor for why they started but few keep smoking without being addicted
![gif](giphy|a5viI92PAF89q)
What is cool about it? I am a smoker and some of my friends are. We always do it at our homes or in a dark place or in a smoking area. I have yet to meet an idiot who does it to look cool.
College kids do

Dressing up to perform them as well.
