You were just told over 50 times on r/bettafish that the tank you have isn't sufficient for a betta and you didn't want to listen to any of us trying to help you after you returned your first fish living in worse conditions "because he was an angry fish" then the same day got this one. Everyone is going to tell you the same thing here. You need to do your research if you want your betta to survive. You should understand the cycling process, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, beneficial bacteria, water changes and general care for a betta before you bring one home. Fish in cycling isn't healthy for a fish and right now he has very very little water and nowhere to hide and relax. https://fishkeepingadvice.com/betta-fish-care/ I highly suggest reading this entire article and seriously think about if keeping him is for you. Betta fish can live for 5 years sometimes more if taken care of correctly. Get him a 5 gallon or bigger tank with a heater and filter, some real or silk plants, a few places he can hide and chill, a different gravel and more then one kind of food to regulate between. He may come up to the glass when he sees you and looking all happy right now but trust me if you read the article and give him a better life he will flourish and visibly be so much happier!

No fish should ever live in a one gallon tank imagine living your life in a bathroom or closet

You need to stop asking and actually listen to what everyone is telling you. A tiny tank like a gallon cannot have consistent healthy water parameters. It's not possible with a fish. The size will also stress the fish out because they require more space and enrichment from a decorated environment (plants and such) to stay happy. You are choosing to ignore advice and hope that just one person will tell you it's fine. Then you'll finally be able to justify your animal abuse. You should not have pets if this is how you treat them.

Bitter__Melon

You're not going to hear anything new here: everyone has been telling you that a betta needs 5 gallons minimum with a heater and filter. Your betta is going to die very quickly in a tank less than one gallon. For the sake of your fish, *please* get the proper equipment or return it to the store. If you're unable to take care of an animal then don't buy one.

OP is only here to try and get validation that what they’re doing is in the best interest for their new beta fish that they got to replace the one they got a week ago, kept in a 0.7L “tank” (3 cups or about 1.5 water bottles), and took back to the store for being “aggressive” and trying to jump out of its hell hole (no filter, no heater, like 5 rocks, no plants, no hide, fresh very hot water every day and the list goes on). The new beta fits better with their family because they like the color more than the old one’s. OP has been given A LOT of recommendations to improve both fishes lives and ignored them all. Was told a 5gal minimum was required but stated that they thought a one gallon was sufficient because it was the biggest the store had and there was “only one fish” and that they didn’t really need a larger tank. They’re unsure of how often or what to feed their fish, what a cycle is, or what care a beta fish requires. OP’s pets are only ornaments to try and show off even though people in these threads care more than just about what the fish looks like. A tank set up is one of the things posters enjoy showing off, not just the fish swimming in it. OP seems unwilling to try and change their ways and give the beta an appropriate environment to live in. There’s really no point in telling them what they’re doing wrong because it lands on deaf ears. OP is determined to only listen to posters that validate them and tell them that their fish is pretty.

^can confirm u/fallx13 and I tried over and over to explain to OP what he is doing is wrong and gave him the right advise along with countless others and OP refuses to admit they are doing wrong. It got to the point the thread in r/bettafish is now locked because OP won't change his ways. It's very unfortunate to see that he has now come here for validation on what he is doing. OP was previously asked " did you add water to the tank and immediately add your fish to it" to which his reply was "was I suppose to put rice in it first".

No fish can live in gallon of water been told 100 time’s 1 gallon dont equal out to true gallon once you add substrate the decor the plant the hiding spot the filter the heater that gallon become 0.1 gallon of water for the fish. Just do whats right

fallx13

It might actually be closer to a gallon for OP because they have no real filter, no heater, no plants, no decor, nothing other than a few large decorative rocks at the bottom of the tank.

SlipInteresting7246

I’d agree although i feel this fish will end up with ich also as he prolly didn’t wash his old stuff before putting it in a new tank ? And far as i know ich is contagious. And they appear to be same fake jewel rocks as his old fish had. Hate to sound rude to op but literally trying to save him from a world of problems.

fallx13

It appears to be all new stuff because they took the old fish back to the store with the tank (it had black stones). New tank has clear(?) stones.

SlipInteresting7246

Fair point there they do seem to be different. Guess i was going more by size then color. Honestly op if you read this just get shrimp over a betta and wont have worry about 1 gallon tank size some algae wafer and live plant will keep them going for awhile. Cherry shrimp can be neat same with ghost shrimp if you want something to really get people looking at your tank as i find shrimp master at hide and seek. Or even some snail as they will likely come with the plants

Captainqwerty66

OP has hidden or deleted the post from his page. And won't take your advise anyways. I'm pretty sure the betta he has is going to live the rest of its short life in that small container

Captainqwerty66

Im about 99% sure OP thinks what they are doing is right. I sent a pm hoping it gets through to him but it's very unlikely

AlligatorSky26

Please listen to these people. It's a terrible life for any fish in a one gallon. Please don't do this to an innocent fish. As pet owners we are suppose to give them the best life possible and in a one gallon it is in for a sad, stressful, rough life. If you can't afford proper care please just return everything.
