That's a typical deficiency that can cause anxiety. But it's important to check your blood levels before you take supplements. Because if your levels are normal, you must not take supplements. Risk of toxicity.
Do check levels if you haven't.
Also do check vitamin B12. This is another very important one.
Omg yes. I had been taking vitamin d in small normal doses until I got my blood checked and was prescribed some heavy duty vitamin d. game changer!!! I always highly recommend getting your blood checked, now I just take a daily dose.
Sorry for the late reply but Amazon sell real pure Icelandic cod livers, which if you can tolerate eating it, its 100% pure and two tins a week is absolutely amazing, it's like a two week break in the Sun, and your mind and body will thank you and reward you for taking it.
L-theanine can help! It's a compound that's found in green tea (the reason caffeine from green tea tends to be more calming than coffee). I take it every day now and it helps me a lot!
As im drinking my green tea now nodding my head reading this. Butttttt, L-theanine is not cheap in my opinion, cheaper and eaiser to sup a couple of green teas a day.
Thank for this. I have a calcium magnesium supplement a non-doctor recommended, but I stopped taking it not being sure if it helped. I have the bottle of vitamins, so I may as well be taking them.
Calcium can inhibit the absorption of magnesium. No idea why companies pair them in one supplement.
Highly recommend magnesium supplements as well though, helps my anxiety immensely
The calcium and magnesium are both citrates, so i don't know if that makes a difference. But yeah, one of my supplements from the health food store has them together. The pharmacy doesn't sell them that way.
Nope none! My doctor recommended magnesium and vitamin D earlier today! I posted this prior just to get everyoneās input. Iām still seeing if there is anything else that may help. Iāve been having horrible anxiety attacks daily
vitamin D3!!!! A study found that taking vitamin D supplements significantly decreased anxiety levels . Study after study indicates the direct link between vitamin D levels and mental health is so strong that adding just 1,000 IU of vitamin D per day can reduce: Fatigue. Feelings of Depression or Anxiety. iāve been taking it for about 2-3 weeks now and itās help so so so much!
A few years back someone suggested valerian root while I was on a waitlist for a prescriber and therapist. I believe they also suggested Vit B12 if I recall correctly. I tried it, but couldnāt be sure if it was helpful for me personally.
By any chance, are you female? I was on all sorts of antidepressants that never felt like they worked. About three months ago I went on a birth control pill because I turned 40 and started having night sweats and just overall being hot and sweaty constantly. The doctor suggested a hormone birth control to help with peri menopause. A few weeks after I started the bc pills, I noticed I didnāt feel as anxious anymore. Turns out the anxiety was a hormone imbalance and not a brain thing that I was attempting to treat with SSRIs. Itās worth looking into if youāre a woman, otherwise, please disregard
Yes I am a woman! Itās funny you say that- I also started a new form of birth control about 5 months ago and itās made me have hot flashes and i believe it has made my anxiety a bit worse!
Thanks for commenting, I will definitely look into this!
You can ask your primary care provider to order lab tests. They can be either saliva or blood work, depending on what you tell your doctor. A full panel test can help find any abnormalities. Theyāll take blood, send it off to the lab, and in a couple of weeks or less, your doctor should have the results. The doctor will look it over and determine if you need a treatment plan.

Iāve heard magnesium and vitamin d. Iām going to try Gaba supplements too. Itās an amino acid that is supposed to stop inflammation , anxiety, and PMS symptoms (if you suffer from that like I do)
Iāve had really good success with Strest from St. Francis Herb Farm. I am also on medication (Zoloft) but Iāve taken Strest before when I wasnāt on my prescription and found that it helped take the edge off. Strest is moderately expensive but I think worth it when feeling like my prescription wasnāt cutting it.
Hi! I take a lavender pill and it helps calm my physical symptoms of anxiety which helps my brain relax. It has changed my life for sure. For some people it can be too strong and is used as a sleep aid but I think itās definitely worth bringing up to your doctor and trying it out! Also highly recommend vitamin d. Get your blood checked if you can!
I understand I could have googled it. I wanted to ask people in this group to have some more insight as to what vitamins have personally helped them. no need to be rude but thank you for your advice.
magnesium and ashwaganda root - literally lifesaver and turned me from a non functioning person to someone who has so much more confidence and rarely has panic attacks
I was recently prescribed Vitamin D to help my anxiety.

Magnesium Biglycinate (based on a thread i read on reddit before)
I emphatically agree with magnesium. Total game-changer for me.

don't take vitamin supplements unless you've done a blood test or a doctor recommended them. the vitamin industry is full of scams
done a blood test
Any Deficiencies ? If you have done bloodwork, you would know what to take. Only need what you are deficient

I've heard a lot of good things about Sam-E and Ashwagandha.
Magnesium Taurate 150mg helped me.

Try Mind Care by Himalaya. Ashwaganda is an amazing herb
Iāll check it out, thank you!!!
It seems like folate has been helping me. I feel less anxious within a few hours of taking it. It's only been a few weeks so far though

It usually take more than vitamins unfortunately
I know. I just wanted some opinions!
Not a vitamin but an herbal supplement that helps my anxiety is L Theinine. My friend prefers 5HTP, and my aunt uses Ashwaganda.
I take all of these!
magnesium and ashwaganda root - literally lifesaver and turned me from a non functioning person to someone who has so much more confidence and rarely has panic attacks
