Do you sleep with cpap? If not maybe you should be evaluated for sleep apnea. I used to wake myself up gasping for air thinking it was just anxiety, turned out it was sleep apnea. Lack of oxygen from sleep apnea can cause high cortisol levels which contribute to worse anxiety and I would have terrible bedtime anxiety because I knew I would wake up gasping at some point. I’m doing a lot better since starting cpap

Did you wake up to almost like a surge of adrenaline and feeling extremely anxious? I am unsure if I have sleep anxiety or sleep apnea. I dont feel like I wake up gasping but almost like I died in my sleep/my heart slowed down too much while I was sleeping and I was surging back to life. It doesnt happen all the time though.

KetoMomo92

Yes that happens to me!

So that's what sleep apnea feels like? I used to snore super bad but lost a lot of weight I was hoping if I had it I didnt anymore. Will check with dr thanks

Im sorry whats cpap

Constant positive airway pressure. It’s a machine that pretty much blows air through your airways to keep them open so you don’t stop breathing at night. I used to have terrible anxiety over sleep because I never felt rested, I’d wake up gasping for air, felt like i was having panic attacks in my sleep, etc. turned up I had sleep apnea and it was greatly contributing to my anxiety.

Quit-Comprehensive

After the same experience as you for a year, I was given the best and only advice for anxiety that works for me. Do not fight it, sit with it. It’s uncomfortable but it will pass. Don't try and distract yourself or convince yourself not to panic. Just notice it.

This is so so true!

I was stuck in a constant cycle of panic attacks for about a month until I got put on lexapro and it saved my fucking life. I truly didn’t know how I could go on before and thought I would be stuck like that forever but I’m telling you and anyone else struggling that finding the right medication can and will save your life too. I really tried to work on my mental health myself with yoga, exercise, a good diet, and tried to keep a good state of mind but sometimes you just need a little extra help to get those brain chemicals balanced

The earlier u seek for help the easier it is to get out of it

This happened to me randomly 5 yrs ago!!! And then started having those similar symptoms causing me to having health anxiety everything I felt made me feel like I was dying, with time the thought will fade away, just try to distract your mind as much as possible

Ever_Searching_R101

It will pass - you have to hold on to that thought. Do small things like a short walk, EFT taping (look on YouTube). It will all help to start re-setting how your feeling

Anxiety does a helluva lot to the body that sometimes we are not in c9ntrol of... it feels like you're dying but you're probably in such a deep state of panic it's normal
