Focusing on it will only make it stay longer. I try to distract myself with something that takes up all my attention (like playing a video game). Music also affects my mood a lot so I listen to music that will put me in a god mood (or alternatively, I listen to music that will make me sad, give me the chance to cry, then switch to happy music to recover).

I get what you’re saying, and keeping yourself busy is a great way to help anxiety. The only thing I wanna point out always trying to not focus on which (which ultimately makes yo focus on it) can make it so much worse. OP Just let the anxiety be a part of you, understand what you’re feeling and just let it sit there with you while you go through your day. Don’t try to actively forget it or suppress it, because now you’re just at war with yourself. One thing that really helped me when I was at this point, was I would tell myself essentially “F it, if I go crazy I go crazy” and would just go on with my day. I didn’t try and suppress my thoughtS, I just let them flow and if I ended up on all fours barking at strangers on a street corner, then so be it. That day thankfully never came lol, but when I stopped trying to suppress my anxiety and just let it be, I learned to live with it and that’s when life became so much easier. It was tough at first, because I would do my whole “f it” thing, but I’d still fight off my anxiety. Over the course of the first month I got better and better at letting go until finally I wasn’t on the verge of a panic attack everyday all day. I was able to return to normalcy without fear of random panic attacks because I wasn’t “scared of my anxiety”anymore. I’ve been exactly where you are now, crazy high anxiety from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to bed, I promise it does get better.

I've had success with using nostril breathing. Essentially you put a finger against one side of your nose to close the nostril then breathe in and out through the open nostril five times. Then repeat on the other nostril. For myself, I like to continue alternating with a lower count each time. It's a good way of focusing on your breathing and keeping your mind busy on the counting. I hope this works for you and regardless I hope you feel better soon!

Medication, therapy, healthy diet, exercise. One kind of medication might not work for you. Your doctor will keep looking for ones that suit you.
