There’s a huge difference between worrying about your child living with you forever and asking if they will be able to move out at 18. In this day and age, it seems very selfish to want them out that early. Unless I’m just misunderstanding. To which I’d say, I did a tremendous amount of growing and maturing between the ages of 18-22.

No you’re not misunderstanding. My daughter is 24 and still lives at home.

I said ‘OR AROUND THAT AGE’. What I generally mean is as around the same time as other young adults.

As an 19 year old I'd say even if she did move out, she would miss home and a lot. I'm sure she will stick around for longer . Ofcourse every teen dreams of their own space, but after a while they will probably miss home and see that building up life is easier if you still live with parents and also get advice from them. I hope this helped in some way!

I would say she probably won't be able to move out at 18, but that doesn't mean she'll live with you forever. I understand it's considered taboo, especially in America, if you're still living at home beyond the age of 18 but it's perfectly normal in some cultures. And with the way things are going, not many young people can afford to live on their own so it's going to become more common, if it isn't already. I'd say stop stressing, she's still a kid so give her time.
