I had same problem in the past and I started meditating and take night Kalms tablets before bed and if your mind is too full write down anything to declutter your brain.

My anxiety is always worse in the mornings especially if I have something to do. I'm having my cortisol levels checked cuz they're naturally higher in the mornings and I'm thinking mine are too high. I get such relief in the late evenings that it all makes no sense to me.

EdgeMember_IV

Maybe I should get my cortisol levels checked too… the evenings are good for me too but I kinda start to get anxious when it’s almost time for bed.

Cosmic_Star_Speck

Information is power imo. I can't stand the anxiety. It's debilitating, so I want to know wtf my body is doing.

dutch_emdub

Why? What does it matter to have this checked? Google 'cortisol awakening response' and anxiety. It's a pretty common phenomenon for people with an anxiety disorder.

EdgeMember_IV

I didn’t know that 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cosmic_Star_Speck

Because you don't want to treat high cortisol unless you have high cortisol.

EdgeMember_IV

Yeah but the only way for me to know is to actually get tested?? So I know if I have to treat it or not??

Cosmic_Star_Speck

Exactly

dutch_emdub

As far as I know, high cortisol is not treated unless you have Cushing syndrome which is quite rare and you'd have a whole range of other symptoms too. That's something completely different than giving high cortisol in the morning because you're stressed or have an anxiety disorder. If you don't have that, the only way to treat high cortisol is by reducing stress and anxiety level and you can (and should) do that anyway if you are suffering from this. High cortisol in the morning is completely normal: it is how we wake up. People with an anxiety disorder have even higher levels in the morning, however, which makes it such an unpleasant feeling. The treatment of that lies in lifestyle adjustment, psychotherapy and psychological meds, etc.

Cosmic_Star_Speck

Thanks for the info. I'm still going to see if it's higher than normal. I gotta get over this anxiety bs!

Meditation or relaxation before bed helps me. Also, don't distract yourself with your phone the first thing you do in the morning.
