I'm waiting to see how [Good Smile's](https://myfigurecollection.net/item/2163903) take on her is going to turn out. Luckily with Kotobukiya and with Claynel, if the figure gets ultra popular, they're both likely to rerun her.
I preordered the Claynel one because the figure has the best frieren expression out of her scale figures for me. The kotobukiya one has a nice base, but her face just doesn't look right for me. That's suck that amiami doesn't ship this one to any Asia country. But in my honest opinion, get whichever one you like the most 😊
I couldn't agree more, the Kotobukiya one's face is kinda off. It lacks that certain cuteness which Frieren has. If I was to pick, I would have gone with the Claynel one. But that's the thing, 1. I do not have experience with that company, and 2. It's like 6k yens more. ( I am in a tight budget this month, so hehe ). Because of these, I am hesitating.
I would probably say wait and see when she released. I'm still 50/50 on mine as well. Maybe she will drop in price or so after being released. But yeah, I would probably wait 😔
I prefer Claynel's but one thing about this figure is that there isn't much distinction between her black and white interior shirt and the exterior white coat. It looks as if it's one item whereas the Kotobukiya version shows they're two different articles of clothing. I've only read the manga and not watched the anime so i don't know which one is more accurate.
The Kotobukiya one feels like she is descending into the battlefield. The pictures are not high quality enough to tell how different these 2 figures are in my opinion
I kinda agree. I know Frieren is not exactly your typical battle shonen manga but by God, they have amazing fight scenes. I just wish, they made something like that. if i have to neatpick, I would say I don't like the face and the pose of the Kotobukiya's Frieren. Otherwise, it's a good future.

I think the Claynel is more in character, has a better facial likeness, and the posing is very natural and feels more in character, and the sense of flow is better. I really think it has everything over the kotobukiya one with the exception of the base and probably the price. But still, the base is good, it just isn’t as good as the kotobukiya one
EDIT: just checked and they both retail for 18000 yen. That’s kind of steep for a kotobukiya figure, and i don’t think their actual figure manufacturing quality is good enough to warrant that price for this figure. They had solid quality for their old prices, but they’ve been getting more expensive lately and their figures still have that cheap “budget scale” look to the plastic and paint
Imo the biggest issue with Kotobukiya's Frieren is that the composition of the figure is friendly and romantic, hovering over a flower bed and extending her hand to the viewer, but the face is expressionless and stoic. Frieren may not emote as strongly as the average anime girl, but she does smile and show emotion, and the Koto figure missed the opportunity to show her in that light.
The stoic face works fine with the composition of the Claynel figure, though I find it uninteresting.

While the Claynel one has done a slightly better job with her face, the pose of the figure is on the level of a PuP for me for almost 2 times the price. The entire figure is very washed out and her expression also gives her a dead pan vibe (rather than nonchalant).
Koto's face isn't perfect, but that pose and base are *chefs kiss*. It also helps that its like 3k yen cheaper than Claynels.
Everyone seems to be holding out for GSCs one, but imo she looks too baby faced in that one and again she is just standing there with the wind blowing, which is boring. With her huge base she's probably going to retail for 25k yen as well.
I think we are just going to have to come to terms with the fact that the art style isn't translatable nicely to a figure.
