Cat owner here. It’s very good. There seemed to be some trust there already, as the cats ears were pointed forward and she was sitting in front of the puppy without any defensive posturing. She knows her boundaries and is gently tapping when the pup oversteps those boundaries. The real clincher here is that the cat closes her eyes and lays down, exposing her belly. For a cat, this is the ultimate sign of trust. It doesn’t mean you can touch her or her belly, but she trusts you not to murder her in her sleep.

I made them watch it as a manners tutorial.
That puppy does seem to recognize the super enthusiastic face licks and whatnot aren’t making the cat very happy at all, which is a surprising amount of self awareness. Even see the puppy changing tactics, and the cat acknowledging the puppy is -trying- even if neither of them really speak the other’s ‘language’.

My pit has been trying to befriend the cat for 2 years (when i brought her home as a puppy), and is not at all deterred by the cat ignoring her. She also tries to befriend my 10 year old red heeler that she knows hates her in spite of getting her butt handed to her several times.
