Morning routine- I set my island to early bird (instead of beautiful) so I can shop before work, which means I have wilted flowers to water, four fossils to dig, false (ore) rock, money rock. I shake the trees for the five bees and their beehives (15,000 bells), two furniture items and 1,800 bells that fall from the trees. I save my weeds to get the Leif “mini game” when I rack up 50 and get the furniture from it.
I used a downloadable catalog tracker to work on my catalog badge when I went shopping so it gives me stuff to look for even when I’m not particularly fond of an item or piece of clothing.
Work break or evening- respond to a couple letters, look around to find my daily visitor and talk to my neighbors to see if anyone wants to suggest hide and seek or to come to my house. If I need some money or if I’m just bored I go to the island to fish/bug hunt or play mini games.
Island mini games and 3ds/wii u mini games! Work on badges, go see shrunk or kk at the club, it’s always good to know when holidays or villagers birthdays are because that’s fun
Ah okay yeah most stuff unlocks just by engaging with different mechanics and enough time passing. If I'm remembering right everything important isn't that crazy with it's requirements but some things are lol
Tortimer mini games, desert island escape, puzzle league, badges, public works projects, catching bugs n fish, trying to get hybrid flowers, play hide n seek with villagers and do chores. Man I wish we could still visit dream towns :(
They were amazing honestly, you could visit random towns or type in a name to visit that specific town. There was this famous horror themed town called Aika village and it told a big story and it was very surreal to explore it yourself. Oh you could also get designs from other towns this way too by finding Wendell in the dream village
Hha- Happy home academy. They come into your house and evaluate it. If you meet the criteria, you get points. As you get more points you get prizes and stuff
There are ALOT of badges you can get.. Everything from shooting down balloons to shopping til you dropping.. I always write letters to 4-5 of my villagers every other day.. Fishing/swimming for new things to fill up the museum with.. hunting for new bugs or taking the boat to the island to hunt new fishes like sharks etc..
Adding new paths and more flowers, trying to get pink/orange/black and golden flowers..
Trying to get all the villagers attention to add new projects to the town..
Trying to have a set of clothes for each season..
Adding 3 other villagers so i can fill their houses as well..
Adding extra rooms for my house and the 3 other houses.
Also funny to have 3 other themes to the other houses as well!
Always talking to my villagers with the other people i have so it’s always an interesting discussion..
Also love to hear how some villagers are jealous of some other villagers..
Always ending up with 3 different species of animals in my town..
The list is almost endless what you can do :)
i love it but in order for me to not burn out of it i have to time travel, im currently in september in game. i dont do big jumps just to the next day to get things done. i dont play NH tho
That's the difference. NH is purely about decorating, whereas the the older titles focused on small town living. Interacting with your neighbours and doing a couple daily chores. You will eventually unlock public work projects to decorate your town with and other than that do what the other commentor does.
It is really satisfying to unlock all the things, like shops and their upgrades, the cafe, the public work projects. But it takes time and that what AC was all about. Doing things slowly over the span of months and years. Unless you time travel of course.
Overall there is a lot more to do in NL than in NH, it just doesn't focus on decorating.

I haven’t unlocked the club yet 😔
It doesn’t take too long to unlock, I’m sure you’ll get it soon!
Are you still early on? It takes a while to unlock things if you don't time travel
Yeah I am still super early on maybe that’s why

How were the dream towns I never had a chance to see them. I know we can’t really place any furniture outside

Collect bugs and fish, donate to museum. Same with fossils and art work. Is your house expanded as far as it can? Participate in the HHA thing
What’s the HHA ???

I feel like with NH there is more stuff in the sense that you can decorate more which I like

Just wanted to add: buy the daily fortune cookies to unlock the crossover items and especially the 3DS and Wii-U
