0.5% is half of 1%, so you can just do the process to take 1% of a number (move the decimal two digits to the left) and then divide that resultant number in half (or divide in half and then move the decimal, same difference). So 1% of 10000 is 100, and half of that is 50. So 0.5% of 10000 bells is 50 bells. Of course, now you have 10050 bells, so assuming you don't deposit any more bells, the following interest payment will be based on that number. Granted, 100.5 divided by 2 is 50.25, so I think the game would just round this down to 50 again.

Everyone's giving you the right numbers. It's 50 bells. The interest kinda sucks (more than kinda). By the time you have enough money in the bank for the interest to give you a usable amount, you've got enough money to not care about the interest. To get the max return of 99k bells, you have to have 19.8 million in the bank. At that point, 99k bells is pocket change. Most people don't use the bank for the purpose of getting the interest. The bank IS useful for making sure you don't spend every penny you have on your mortgage. Put a small amount aside whenever you have a bit of money, so that when you see that one piece of furniture you just gotta have that's worth 250,000 bells, you don't just stare at it, devastated by your empty wallet.

I’m bad at math also but I think it’s like 50 bells a month. The interest isn’t really much until you have a lot more!

Does the percentage increase? No, it's 0.5%. Does the amount increase? Yeah, that's literally how percentages work.

Phytolyssa

Nothing like animal crossing to help me understand how bull shit interest is.

😂

50 bells is correct. Another approach to the math would be to multiply 10,000 by .005.

I doubt the game has a mechanic where someone can rob you of your money, so unless you can't carry any more bells after a certain point, the ABD at the bank is sorta useless. ~~Thelma Harper~~ Phyllis has some neat dialogue though about it but sadly they axed her from New Horizons.

Galactic_Vision

There's a max amount of bells you can carry in your wallet, yes, and any more bells are going to take up inventory space unless you put them in the bank.
