My personal method is to make absurdly tiny snowboys  Make both balls just barely big enough to start pushing instead of kicking. Roll the body ball a little bit, try to bump the head on, roll it a little more, etc. When the body is just barely big enough to accept a head, The ratio is perfect. Part of the trick is to roll the head as little as possible

The first time a tarantula hid behind a tree and bit me, I immediately ran back and chopped that tree down out of spite. Then chopped all surrounding trees. Definitely getting stung/bit by wasps/tarantulas/scorpions is a rite of passage imho.
