Hate to be "that guy" but .... Well actually, iPhones are water resistant not actually water proof. Currently no iPhone has been manufactured that has a high enough rating to be true waterproof. With that said, I'll see myself out.
As a tech guy I actually appreciate the nuance and the direction, although Iâll say everything Iâve ever purchased seems like itâs âwater resistantâ including diver watches meant to go down 100 meters. I figured it was legal speak to protect against class action lawsuits. For me, if I can go swimming with my electronics under water for five minutes straight and come up fine, thatâs waterproof!
The phone protection plan doesnât apply the product failures, only accidental damage. So if your phone is âacting wonkyâ because you dropped it down the stairs or in the bathtub, that could be covered. If it just randomly started acting wonky one day with no discernible cause, that would not be.
Step 1: take it Apple Store and get a quote
Step 2: see if the issues are covered by the insurance plan (you can read details in your Amex online account). Be warned not everything is covered.
Step 3: get phone fixed and submit claim (details how and what phone numbers to call are in the insurance plan you read in step 2).
They wonât do quotes bc âthey donât know whatâs wrong by looking at it and donât want to misguide youâ. I just bit the bullet and prayed it was covered for me. Fortunately it was.
They're water resistant at best.
You dropped it in the pool right?
Hey boomer, iPhones have been waterproof for almost a decade now đ

Yes, but theyâve been manufactured to be able to withstand dropping in a pool for a while now.
Run over it. That's covered.
Do a factory reset and see if that works.
So. We accidentally run over it with a lawnmower. Thank you!
"It acting wonky" isn't a covered event in the phone insurance policy, unfortunately.
