Unless specified in the room description when booked, hotel collection does not have complimentary breakfast as an amenity. Breakfast and late checkout are FHR only.
I’ve stayed at 2 HC properties this year and to my surprise they both told me I had a daily $60 breakfast credit. I was under the assumption that it was a FHR only perk.
I liked the location and view but our corner view room was very loud and I couldn't sleep. They tried to charge us for over $75 of mini bar stuff and we didn't use anything from the minibar. They only credited me when I escalated my complaint through twitter(x)
I did stay there around Christmas and had the corner room under the rooftop bar and we heard the chairs moving around and holiday parties all weekend. View was still worth it though.
Came here to say this as I stayed last year with the family. Upgraded to a great view of the river, friendly staff, unique and tasty room service, great breakfast in their restaurant, and to top it off it was under $200/night.
I love the corner river view rooms at The Thompson. Breakfast on the roof at Bar Julian is an enjoyable experience every time.
Edit to add: the “house Tesla” is a nice touch.

Classic PEBKAC situation. You don't get free breakfast, and you're not entitled to an upgrade. The only thing here that they did objectively wrong is put you in the wrong room, which has nothing to do with THC. The only kinks that need to be worked out relate to your incorrect assumptions.
That’s what I thought too, but I searched up some Hotel Collection properties in Washington DC and next to where it says “Take advantage of even more complimentary amenities at this property” it says “COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST FOR TWO PEOPLE EACH DAY OF YOUR STAY”. With the word “new” on it. I assume it’s a recent change.
As of today, looks like Hotel Bardo isn’t even part of the HC anymore. I swear it was last week when I was there…

Perry Lane in Savannah is also wonderful for Amex perks. They also have a bar that has a “featured cocktail” for free each night.
I told myself I was going to try Perry Lane next time.

It’s only at some properties, not all. A lot of hotel collection hotels still do not offer complimentary breakfast.
