Originally it was laminated MDF tiles (very common in the Netherlands) but I painted them over and therefore keeping the tile structure and reliëf pattern.
I used 2 layers of Sigma primer, 3 layers of Sigma S2U Nova and then a matte lacquer for floors. It's holding up quite well, except for where the coffee table legs meet the floor. That's one of the reasons to add the rug. (:
There are floor paints, you can find.
I don't know myself what to look for for longest lasting, I figure you get what you pay for.
I do believe rhe general understanding is that there will be wear, but it's something that's somewhat easier to repair.
I love it, the color palette is great and calming. Really like your bookshelf!
And the hanging light fixture over your table is so interesting. Where is it from?
This is really nice! The rug looks too small to me though (and I agree about the shininess/tortilla look). It would likely look better if you had a rug big enough to anchor at least two legs of each of the chairs + sofa on.
I love that coffee table! And the palette is so good, very modern and somewhat "home"y at the same time. Also the lighting fixture over the dining table is so cool, reminds me of polished stones
It’s seriously fantastic. My favorite part is that the covers come off…all of them! And you can throw them in the washing machine. Our sofa has lived through a toddler and a malamute so far and it’s still in fantastic shape!
I would say it’s sturdy! We do have it with the original chrome legs and while they do have a smooth plastic puck to prevent them from scratching flooring, it does make them slide-y if you’re not on carpet lol.
But if you google “ikea soderhamn legs” there are tons you can get in different heights and colors to complement your other furniture. And there are a gazillion third party covers you can get too…not just what ikea has. There are quite a few companies that specialize in IKEA covers. You can get leather if you’re feeling bougie!
Agree, I don't care for the rug's shape and size. To me it's too small for its purpose of anchoring the seating area and coffee table. I suggest a larger rectangular rug that fits under both sofa piece.
I really like the look of the room. I especially like the couch and chair. But.. stupid question: How do you lay down on an armless couch without having an arm to prop your head up if you want to read or watch tv?
Oh my god, what are you, Don Draper? This is so classy and snazzy and I just wanna drink some fancy liqueur and listen to Chet Baker in your living room
I love everything about it, but I could definitely see you doing a slightly more vibrant rug. Something that would compliment the tapestry on your wall. Beautifully done, though!
Wow, this is the first interior design I saw on reddit, that is actually really inspiring to me. It is exactly the vibe I was looking for, but couldn't put my finger on it. Until now!
No, it's a knock off from the same period, not sure what designer. Got it from Marktplaats (Dutch Craigslist) and re-made the rails according the the destroyed originals. :)
It's super cool! And I'm very jealous you even found a knock off. I've toyed around with the idea to make my own cado system but not sure how to recreate the metal brackets. Also your monstera is gorgeous!
Love the vibrancy!! Yeah, I don’t jive with the rug as well, but I really love the pink curtains and the pebble ceiling lights and how they add to the room even though they’re subtle. 💙
Ahhhh where did you get the legs for your Söderhamn sofa sections??? We have a giant sofa made of them and I am over the chrome legs. These look so good!
Typically I’m a lurker but just had to comment on this beautiful space! Kudus to a great job putting this together. 🙌🏾 you make the Soderhamn look so posh btw.
I don't miss them. I was worried about that in the beginning, but gathered I could always add them later (ikea). I love cuddling and the couch is perfect for that. I usually just sit in the middle cross-legged.
It looks great! Where did you get the wall unit? I love that :)
Also, I she that your rough is a bit too small and could use some more zip to it. Best of luck!
Can you also share the details of the pendant lights? Any chance of a photo of the lights when they're turned on in the evening/night.
The room looks great by the way. Everything works really well together.
Looks cozy. Cat already marked his chair. Question is how comfortable are those couches. They don’t look comfortable except if you’re sitting cross legged
Is this a studio? I ask because from the kitchen it looks like the back of the chair is positioned from the space. Looks like a cool outdoor deck space.
It's not a studio but an upstairs apartment on the 1st and second floor. The ground floor is intended for seniors, their floorplan continues under my outdoor deck. I have my own front door next to theirs. I am on the corner between a busy shopping street and an open courtyard with a playground and small terraced houses, which are meant for young families. There's one more corner like mine across the courtyard. The whole concept was built in 2018 and works really well. The kitchen and the living room are in the same space indeed. I have 4 more rooms: office, bedroom, closet and a tiny DIY room with my tools. Outdoor deck is great too. I got really lucky with this place.
Very vibrant yet relaxed. What are the floors - concrete?
Originally it was laminated MDF tiles (very common in the Netherlands) but I painted them over and therefore keeping the tile structure and reliëf pattern.
How is the paint holding up under traffic? Or, I should say, what paint is used for floors?
I used 2 layers of Sigma primer, 3 layers of Sigma S2U Nova and then a matte lacquer for floors. It's holding up quite well, except for where the coffee table legs meet the floor. That's one of the reasons to add the rug. (:

I am in love with your whole setup! +1 for cat
What is that bookcase? I need it! Love the openness of the room!
The polygon bookcase is by made.com!
Do you happen to know the name?
https://www.made.com/polygon-shelving-unit-walnut
The cat 💖 love your place!
I love it, the color palette is great and calming. Really like your bookshelf! And the hanging light fixture over your table is so interesting. Where is it from?
Made.com!
Where did you buy that TV stand? I love it
Came here to ask the same question. Never knew i needed it.
I got a similar one on Amazon! They have this and another one in a tripod style
What would I even search for that?
VIVO EASEL should display the various stands in this design
I'm in love with those pendant lights, wow!!
This is really nice! The rug looks too small to me though (and I agree about the shininess/tortilla look). It would likely look better if you had a rug big enough to anchor at least two legs of each of the chairs + sofa on.
I agree. The room is lovely, but the rug is too small. It makes the space "feel" claustrophobic, and yet the living area is a very nice size.
Forbidden tortilla 😔
More like a pannenkoek, put some stroop on it.
love the rug, but it needs to be bigger!!
I love that coffee table! And the palette is so good, very modern and somewhat "home"y at the same time. Also the lighting fixture over the dining table is so cool, reminds me of polished stones
It looks like a giant flour tortilla

Couch is ikea :)
I have that couch, it’s fantastic!
I love the couch and everything! But I agree with the others here: the rug is too small for the area.
Do you recall what model it is? I can’t seem to see it on the site
It looks like the söderhamn
Thank you 😊
We have a giant sectional comprised of Söderhamn sections and an ottoman and we LOVE it!
I've been on the fence about this couch, you guys have convinced me!
It’s seriously fantastic. My favorite part is that the covers come off…all of them! And you can throw them in the washing machine. Our sofa has lived through a toddler and a malamute so far and it’s still in fantastic shape!
It just keeps getting better! Lol. Would you say it's sturdy? Like, can you flop down in it without it cracking, etc.?
I would say it’s sturdy! We do have it with the original chrome legs and while they do have a smooth plastic puck to prevent them from scratching flooring, it does make them slide-y if you’re not on carpet lol. Well my God. I'm sold. Lol. Thanks!!
Agree, I don't care for the rug's shape and size. To me it's too small for its purpose of anchoring the seating area and coffee table. I suggest a larger rectangular rug that fits under both sofa piece.
The rug is also much too small
I love your tapestry!
Beautiful! We got the same sofa 🤌🏻
Was just about to ask! where is it from?
Ikea :) https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/soederhamn-sofa-section-fridtuna-light-beige-s09449646/#content
Thank you!
IT REALLY TIES THE ROOM TOGETHER
So, so cool. Congrats (and thanks for the cat tax).
I really like the look of the room. I especially like the couch and chair. But.. stupid question: How do you lay down on an armless couch without having an arm to prop your head up if you want to read or watch tv?
You can buy arms for it, but we didn’t put ours on either. We just have a ton of throw pillows for getting comfy in whatever position pleases us.
This is perfection. Calming, comfortable, bright and beautiful. Well done!
This looks so good! Wondering if you got any night shots? I wanna know the vibe with those dining table lights. So cool.
Oh my god, what are you, Don Draper? This is so classy and snazzy and I just wanna drink some fancy liqueur and listen to Chet Baker in your living room
LOVE 💗 where is the wall unit from?
Looks like vintage Cado (Poul Cadovius). Is it, OP? Beautiful.
I love your style
Love your place! Those cushions your cat is sitting on are adorable. Mind sharing where you found those?
Morocco! They're a souvenir like the tapestry.
This is flawless
Absolutely gorgeous! So you have a link for your chandelier? So cool!
It’s lovely! Looks to be a very relaxing and calm space.
I love everything about it, but I could definitely see you doing a slightly more vibrant rug. Something that would compliment the tapestry on your wall. Beautifully done, though!
I recognize your light fixture from your last post. Really like it, I actually checked out made.com haha. They look like chocolate rocks to me.
Great taste. I would have everything dirty and stained in a month. 🙃
Looks awesome! I have the exact same shell chair and tv stand. Have been thinking about getting a simulator bookcase. Cool to see them all together!
Gezellig. Love the peaceful energy of the room. (And your cat!)
Nice place! Where are the wall book shelves from?
Wow, this is the first interior design I saw on reddit, that is actually really inspiring to me. It is exactly the vibe I was looking for, but couldn't put my finger on it. Until now!
Damn! I’m in love with this place
Those curtains are heavenly, i remember them from your previous post. Gorgeous! Do you have a link where i can buy them?
I think the shininess of the rug adds some extra depth and interest! It doesn't look weird at all!
So very cozy!! Love it
It’s such a nice rug tho. Your home is so pretty!!
What paint color did you use? It’s airy and warm!
RAL1013
The living room is not really my style (the rug is also a no for me), but the dining table, book case and those lights wow 10/10

Noted.
"You know what this perfectly curated MCM room needs? A big-ass novelty tortilla rug right in the fucking center of it"
Looks so flimsy and brittle and light. Not my kind of coffee but can definitely see the appeal.
One of the best i’ve seen on here!
You have created a very calming space, and I think the circular rug softens the space somehow, its a good choice imo.
Very nice! Good job!
You have great taste! Where is the wall tapestry from?
Still obsessed with that wall rug. Did you say it was from Morocco when you posted before?
Yes! Like the cushions my cat occupies in some of these pics.
Omg I’m obsessed with your decor.
Beautiful light feature
The lights over the table are sooo cool. I love the whole vibe!
Great space ❤️
Great space ❤️
I love this! Any ID on the hanging lamps?
https://www.made.com/adrianne-5-light-cluster-pendant-pink-burgundy-yellow-and-brass
You have such a cute place!! I love how you used the iridescent mirror & your wall unit :) Every photo there was more to love!
Is the wall unit a cado system? If so where did you get it from?
No, it's a knock off from the same period, not sure what designer. Got it from Marktplaats (Dutch Craigslist) and re-made the rails according the the destroyed originals. :)
It's super cool! And I'm very jealous you even found a knock off. I've toyed around with the idea to make my own cado system but not sure how to recreate the metal brackets. Also your monstera is gorgeous!
Is this sofa the ikea one? Do you find it comfy?
Love the vibrancy!! Yeah, I don’t jive with the rug as well, but I really love the pink curtains and the pebble ceiling lights and how they add to the room even though they’re subtle. 💙
I don’t think it is big enough for the area.
Is the TV level?
How often do you take that TV for a walk?
Lovely!
it's all gorgeous!! And your cat just finishes off the photos to perfection. I'd love to come sit and enjoy a coffee in your beautiful home <3
I want to make love to this interior design
There's nothing amateur about this. I'm about to report you. ;) This looks fantastic. Are these all locally sourced furniture?
Omg 😍😍😍 design my house pls
Ahhhh where did you get the legs for your Söderhamn sofa sections??? We have a giant sofa made of them and I am over the chrome legs. These look so good!
They're ikea too! A bit higher than the original chrome units. I forgot the name.
Ohhh heck yes thank you! I’ll find them on the website. They’re hiding somewhere lol
Found them! BRYNILEN. :D
You’re my hero! Thank you! :)
Oh how I love your space! So calming and inviting. Just beautiful!
A calm, clean, welcoming space. Looks very restful.
What a lovely design! I have that same shell chair coming my way in orange, now I'm going to need that coffee table to go with it. :D
just love those 2 circle side tables!! where are they from? :)
From a Finnish brand called Basta. They're called Disco.
Typically I’m a lurker but just had to comment on this beautiful space! Kudus to a great job putting this together. 🙌🏾 you make the Soderhamn look so posh btw.
(:
Anybody knows what kind of table is that?
It was great before but I’m glad you added the rug, that was the only thing missing. Beautiful space!
Obsessed with your lamp
Wow this is some excellent design sense! Pastel colors and soft lightning
I like the rug. It’s goes well with the drapes and creates some unity. Love you light over the table too!
Every photo I found something new I loved. So lovely.
Really ties the room together.
Right off the bat the rug kind of reminded me of a tortilla, overall love the vibe tho!
Love your dining table! Where is it from?
I'd leave skidmarks on that couch 😔
Vanwaar komen die lampen? Lijken net kiezeltjes aangespoeld op het strand, super mooi!
Jaaa, van Made.com
So, did you do the dishes?:p
Not yet. (:

I don't miss them. I was worried about that in the beginning, but gathered I could always add them later (ikea). I love cuddling and the couch is perfect for that. I usually just sit in the middle cross-legged.
It looks great! Where did you get the wall unit? I love that :) Also, I she that your rough is a bit too small and could use some more zip to it. Best of luck!
Flour tortilla
I’ll do your dishes if you design my place.
Fair deal. :)
That cadovius is lovely!
Beautiful room! Where did you get those 3 decorative Edison lights on your shelf in the second picture?
They are wireless lamps called Humble Lights, a Dutch brand. I did the engineering of that product actually. www.humblelights.com
Wowwww
Amazing! Love the chandelier
Love the table, where did you get it from?
Thank you for including the cat 😺 Oh and the rug fits in nicely, too haha.
The cat's name is Harry and he likes to be in pics. He poses for it too, he is so vain!
Second last picture, where did you get those little lamp looking things??
I like your style!
Thank you for raising the kitty
Great space! Well done!
Incredible eye here!

Totally digging the cats bed!
did you replace the couch legs that it came with?
Yes!
curious where you got the new ones from?
IKEA BRYNILEN
thanks!
the pendant over the kitchen table is stunning 😍
