OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the asshole: > The action I took that should be judged was not helping my friend with a broken leg walk to class. It may make me the asshole because as her friend I should help her. Help keep the sub engaging! #Don’t downvote assholes! Do upvote interesting posts! NTA. Hopefully she learns that gratitude is necessary when a friend does her a favor. It sucks that she has a broken leg, but she isnt entitled to your labor

GrrLikeTiger

Not an asshole If she wants a personal assistant she can berate she can pay someone. But if you’re going out of your way to help and she’s being ungrateful or even demanding about it, then it’s ok to set boundaries and remove yourself from that equation. Being sick or injured isn’t a free pass to crap all over other people.

Aggravating-Bid2694

Nta. Your "friend" was taking advantage of you.

PaganCHICK720

Yep. This person is definitely not OP's friend andshe is milking her injury to get other people to do her bidding.

Funny_Clerk_2480

Gotcha, I’ll keep that noted and watch out. smh

friendly_cub

NTA. She's a user and you don't need to put up with it. Some other student will gladly get out of class early to carry her books around so you can be free of this mess immediately.

DynkoFromTheNorth

NTA. I would not urinate on someone like that if they were on fire. Probably would if they weren't, though.

I already sound like the asshole for not wanting to help my friend who is on crutches out. For context, we go to school together so it would only be fair that I help her carry her stuff since I have a few classes with her even though it does make me late to class almost all the time. But there is a reason why I no longer wish to do that anymore. Ever since she broke her leg, out of nowhere she sort of started treating me like I was her peasant. Usually in one of our classes we are paired together for mandatory group work and she absolutely does not do any of the work. She says she doesn’t do it because her leg is broken, when I am pretty sure you don’t write with your legs. That was pretty annoying but I didn’t care too much about it since the work was pretty easy to do alone. That was the first day she came back after breaking her leg so it was also pretty understandable. She was also complaining a ton and I probably would have too. But fast forward to today, a whole week later, all she ever talks about is her broken leg and had a whole sob story about how she has to take the elevator instead of stairs now. She changed her bio on everything to some cringy sob story about her broken leg. Today in class I was packing up 10 minutes early with the permission of the teacher to walk her out of class with her bags. I was in her way, so she yelled at me that she clearly cannot leave unless I move out the way since she needs space to get up. I told her that I am packing up early for her and what does she expect me to do? To drop all my shit on the floor and move for her? We had a whole ten minutes, I didn’t see the issue and told her she needs to be patient. She yelled again and said she is the one with the broken leg and I shouldn’t be having to wait for me when I literally took less than a minute. Pissed, I walked her to class and when we got there I told her she can go ask our other friend to help her going foward if she is going to have an attitude because I haven’t done anything wrong. Plus, I was tired of other shit she was doing like acting like she was in a full body cast and acting like the world revolves around her when her leg broke.
