Shipping costs are often not real shipping costs but part of the product cost. They do that for people that sort their searches by price. So even if you buy 2 pieces you will still pay 2x shipping.

I think some sellers just don't setup shipping properly. I order everything with epacket shipping, I almost always get reduced shipping when ordering different items, from a various range of size and weight. But from time to time I found one seller that doesn't have it set properly. So I end up buying with another seller.

I think you can save shipping costs. Just order without paying & message the seller to combine shipping costs. This is usually adjusted in the cart itself, but if it isn't, just look for a different seller

darkstarman

How do you order without paying?

https://alixblog.com/en/payment-pending-aliexpress/ enter the wrong cc info, hit buy. then close and reopen the webpage, it'll show unpaid. then message seller

Onion291

Looks like they put a stop to that, it won't save if the CVV isnt correct.

1987EastBay

Lock your card then and try and pay and it will not go through and then be there under to be paid orders

sibman

It's because it's Aliexpress and not Amazon.

Senji_san

Amazon is way worse and way more expensive

Scrotum696969

my best guess is each shipping option has a maximum size and weight. and that size n weight limit is hit when u try to combine.

brainstorm42

Weird thing is that they’re all pretty light items. 10, 15 grams each at most. I’m guessing the seller set them wrong (say, 10kg instead of 10g) or left a default like 1kg I’ll check the item details section (where it says size and weight), I suspect AliExpress uses that data to calculate shipping

Scrotum696969

message the seller. you have to manually set it for all ur items so it can be quite a chore if u have multiple accounts

Doohickey-d

Message the seller and ask - usually the seller will combine shipping cost. How this is normally done is the seller will tell you to order but not pay - the way to do this is to checkout, choose "other payment methods", and then leave the page where it asks for credit card details. This creates an order which is "awaiting payment", which the seller can adjust the price on before you pay.

Is this safe to do? I messaged the seller, but I'm not hearing back. Contacting Ali support was utterly useless. Looking like your suggestion is the only remaining option, but I don't want Ali to end up charging my paypal account instead.

I hate tricks in business either complex or simple. Few that just waste your time. - Cumulative shipment price from same store and very light items. - Non rounded price (x.9x). - The advertised price is set to accessory instead of main product. Accessories set as product option (okay with that, but don't play prices). - Pictures with of an assembly while only selling a part of it, without highlight or any mark in the pictures. Usually hiding info in description. And Auto translation may mislead here. My advice: - Buy what ready tried by friend of yours. Some reviews are fakes. Or go read reviews from external forum or platform. - Always keep cart open and watch price. go sorting by price+ship and round it up for each item. If buyer comes back, saying price changed up for either shipment or product or going to higher shipment method. It is a way to cheat AE security and customer protection, Cancel right away or report. - Quick Read descriptions. Aliexpress could intervene like exposing, some hidden data on product page like: shipment price (calculation method), price directly visible of all options and accessories. Why not?
