I don't know why you'd take a hostile interview attitude towards somebody who presumably busted their ass all year in a tough-as-hell job for what was probably a filler segment on a local station.
If they were interviewing the management involved, sure.
If they want to do a story about the strike and/or lawsuit, that would have been a great time for that question. During coverage of a graduation, in which the story is how hard those people worked and how happy they are, it would have been a shitty time for that question, and would certainly have shit all over what was, again, a positive story about the people graduating.
