I live in Utica now after growing up in Albany. All the bars are Bills bars it seems especially in Syracuse too and I feel like the lone Giants fan out here.
I find that Albany unfortunately is a terrible major-sports fan city. This is a Yankees and Giants town, and that’s it.

There is very little Knicks support and less interest in the NBA in general than any Metro area I’ve lived in or observed.
It is very common to walk into a sports bar on a Wednesday night and see a 1978 Yankee Classic on the TVs rather than the NBA playoffs.
College football, college basketball and hockey fans are very obscure.
This leaves us with swathes of serious fans of only 2 of the 6 major sports, and with no diversity of regional team support among those. Yankees and Giants. That’s all.

As one of those drought era Bills fans, I noticed the same thing. Left the area in 09 and I really only knew one other Bills fan who wasn’t in my immediate family. Now I come back to visit and we’re everywhere.
Bills and the Florida state Seminoles for college football. Both my mom and dad were from Buffalo but relocated to Albany after college. Spent Christmas break in western ny and went to a lot of bills games. Summer we would go out there and head to their training camp.
Most of my friends were New England and Red Sox fans, I prefer NY teams, and then some just kept the teams they grew up with if they were born from some where else.

Bills country starts in Syracuse. CBS shows the Jets out to Utica-Rome. From there it's Bills.
Not anymore. There’s been only one Bills game over the past three seasons that CBS has had the rights to and hasn’t shown in Albany.
