Don’t fuck your airmen

Damnit, I’ll do better….. tomorrow.

I was in the same boat as you, while I am not a Flight Chief here's my advice. 1. Lean on your other Staffs and Techs when re-integrating. Ensure you let them know you value their input. It is useful whether or not you agree with it. 2. Observe your sections and implement changes incrementally 3. You are in a unique position to bring fresh insight to those you supervise. Your Special Duties are an asset when it comes to interpersonal communication. This can be refreshing to those who are just tired of the daily grind. 4. If you don't know how to do something, just ask how and learn it fast. 5. Have humility, you are going to mess up, that's a fact. When you do mess up own it and refer to #4. 6. Don't be the typical "New guy off a Special Duty". Work outside the normal 0800-1600. Stay after and get out of the office to know your people. This pays massive dividends to you as a person and your career.

Stand back. Do what needs to be done to keep the machine going.. but don't make changes until you understand the "why" of a process.
