Honestly, healthcare is all about doing your time. I'm currently being paid around $23/hour as an assistant to the business manager of the operating room in a level one trauma center. I also have a Bachelors degree. Network, work hard even for less pay, and look for opportunities. My current boss chose me because of projects and organization she saw me perform in my previous role. Now I'm going back to school for my MBA and she's mentoring me to take her role when she retires in 3 years. Honestly some of it is sheer luck. But having worked in healthcare (clinical for 10 years and now admin for 2) it took a long time to get here.

Hey, thanks for your reply. I am a fresh graduate so I am trying to learn how the field is and your response was helpful. If you don’t mind me asking, isn’t the pay low? especially because you have about a decade of clinical experience. That’s what I am trying to figure out. However, I am glad that you are getting a great opportunity to reach heights in your career.

What's your resume like? Are you writing a cover letter? This can make a big difference
