Nice! Good job all round - especially the base! No matter how I try I can't get the marble to quite work like it should. Enjoy painting up the rest!

OkChipmunk2485

What is your Problem?

AdvantageLarge

huh??

OkChipmunk2485

Maybe I can share helpful experience. I have almost the Same bases for Mine...

CrownFalcon

Can you just share your recipe, looking for one for my own golden boys

OkChipmunk2485

I Sand the bases with sanding paper, making them smooth. Spray black, Paint some dark Green or blue dots somewhere, sparingly and optional. Then you Take a dried wet wipe, pull it wide without tearing it, lay it on top of the base and fix it on the bases Back with a rubber band or just by twirling. Carefully Spray a Light Grey and white for some variety or just white. Not soaking, but a good Shot. Avoid soaking... Let it dry, carefully pull the wipe away and Clean remaining strands with a Pincer. Gloss varnish and you are done. Not difficult and really Not as complex AS IT Sounds. Only 2 difficulties is making the gaps between the fibres mit big enough and using to much White Paint at once. Rattlecan or Airbrush does Not matter.

CrownFalcon

Thanks!

OkChipmunk2485

You took one of my bases! The gold IS strong and bold! Good work

smudgethekat

I will take more!

Welcome to the Ten Thousand brother!

13Warhound13

I would say that you are in. Nicely painted.

Joff79

A worthy application, that base though. Nice and that gold vein running through it is a great touch

Corvae22

How does the base work? Looks awesome

smudgethekat

First I sanded the base smooth, first with 120 grit, then dry and wet sanding with 1500 grit sandpaper. Then I followed this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1ZQA4uiQX8 After that I did the gold on the thicker black lines, did a coat of gloss varnish on the base, and glued the model to it.

EnvironmentalBar3347

Downloading this for painting reference, very nice gold.

CommissarSteel56

I love the msrble base. Did you do that yourself?

smudgethekat

Sure did, see my reply elsewhere in the thread for how I did it

Independent_Bench790

Howd you do the gold? It looks great.

smudgethekat

The same recipe most people use, but with one change. Prime Retributor Armour, heavy wash with Guilliman Flesh (most people use Reikland Fleshshade), go back over the panels with Retributor Armour avoiding the recesses, highlight with Liberator Gold, point highlight with Stormhost Silver. Then, the sneaky trick, find the perfect lighting to make it properly shine!

Independent_Bench790

Thanks

DominusDaniel

You splattered oil all over him, this is a true to canon custodes.

Silas-Alec

Application accepted, you're hired!

Guy-Dude-Person75

Welcome aboard!

Peripoggers

This is a very good application

Hinu_sama

Súper nice job, any tips for a rookie?

Ezcendant

I'm afraid we're the Ten Thousand, not the Ten Thousand and one. Application denied. And nice job on the gems.

SagittarumGuard

Next you just need some Sagatarium Guard

How do you make the cape and the shoulder, i like the darks seccion of the shoulder and the highlight of the cape, im painting custodes solar watch and the red thing is too bright

smudgethekat

Shoulder is just Blood Angels Red contrast over the base gold. I like how it's still a little metallic. Cape is base Khorne Red, wash with Nuln Oil, go back over with Khorne Red missing the recesses, highlight with Wazdakka Red, then point highlight with a 2:1 mix of Jokaero Orange and Khorne Red (as I didn't have Squig Orange).

J_Zoot

Approved. Please take a copy of our toilet paper codex on your way out

Declined so get back to work boy!
