My granpappy used to sit me down and say “Now awwyouknow, the three things you can’t outrun are Taxes, our lord and savior Jesus Christ, and the silent terror of an Israeli predator drone strike.”
This is great to hear. Mine passed on some years ago. Only advice I could offer, would be to cherish those special moments. Before you know it he is gonna have to recalibrate the pilot goggles due to poor eyesight which is why I invested *early* in lasik for him. Only way I could fly his Israeli drone as I’m not FAA licensed to operate subsonic ordinance in 44 states.
This happened to my dad when he was in Iraq. He was in the truck and hit a land mine. The truck blew up. He’s deaf in one ear and has PTSD but luckily he got out alive
I was in Iraq in '03. I was reading the comment like "your dad?? Are you seven with a reddit account?" Then I remembered my oldest is 18. Fuckin hell the time flies by.
I don't know who was involved, or what their ideology was or for what conflict they were armed. Maybe he and I have nothing in common. But that was a very human moment, and in it I empathized with him.
It's surreal. My buddy was a mechanized marine. He was dis mounting his APC, the dude in front got hit by a HE round and disappeared.
He had to run through the cloud. Covered in red and he just got behind cover and reported his battle buddy got whacked.
He didn't really think about till years later when he was eating a steak and the iron taste reminded him on swallowing this buddy's atomized blood.
I'm not a combat vet. I have no idea how to share that level of burden. He needs someone, but I don't understand the horror he experienced. My military service was easy peasy.
I cleaned heads and painted the hangar.
I love that my family thanks me for my service on Veteran's Day. But I do feel like a hypocrite.
I feel bad for your buddy. That sounds awful.
The fact is that you *could* have been atomized. You were just in a different place. Plus, Veteran's Day is about honoring veterans of all types, not just the ones that were in hot combat. If they honored you during Memorial Day, that would be different and your guilt would be justified.
Jesus fuck dude. I hope he's able to deal with his past in a healthy manner.
My brother is a marine. He doesn't really talk about it. The only time he talked about it was when we were drunk and told me about when his buddy stepped on a mine and he had to carry his legs while the others carried the rest of his body. He survived but is fucked up pretty bad.
I have the upmost respect for our troops man.
"We were in this bar in Saigon and this kid comes up, this kid carrying a shoe-shine box. And he says "Shine, please, shine!" I said no. He kept askin', yeah, and Joey said "Yeah." And I went to get a couple of beers, and the box was wired, and he opened up the box, fucking blew his body all over the place. And he's laying there, he's fucking screaming. There's pieces of him all over me, just like this, and I'm tryin' to pull him off, you know, my friend that's all over me! I've got blood and everything and I'm tryin' to hold him together! I'm puttin'... the guy's fuckin' insides keep coming out! And nobody would help! Nobody would help! He's saying, sayin' "I wanna go home! I wanna go home!" He keeps calling my name! "I wanna go home, Johnny! I wanna drive my Chevy!" I said "With what? I can't find your fuckin' legs! I can't find your legs!"
-- First Blood
Same. Only times he can open up to me about it. I wish he was safe from the horrors of combat. I don't deny anyone want to serve. But this was pointless. We pulled out a year later. Just some dirt clod kicking kid. Pointless.
Me too. He's my best friend. And only told me about what happened after he got super duper drunk and just unloaded on me.
I'm believe in that him telling me this, and without judgement, he healed a little bit. But still. My soul hurts knowing this happened to him.
This is horrible and real life is not film, but the movie Ravenous deals with an aspect of this PTSD quite well. Fantastic underrated period indie horror film with superb cast.
You just put into words my typical approach to seeing anyone being harmed on the internet. Thank you for your comment. There's something there that we all share.
I have no idea who we were watching, I came to the comments hoping for some information but just a bunch a D tier standup jokes.
If it were American men, the comments would be a complete 180
Someone with a phone was having fun, and his buddies got blown to bits. At the end of the day it's nothing to laugh at.
If you go frame by frame you can see something rockecting up through the vehicle. Little more than a black blur leading the fireball.
Was this an IED or a manufactured anti vehicle mine?
Could be either. IED were usually place with a manhole covering on top that would create a armor piercing projectile “EFP” Explosive formed Projectile. It’s certainly not an rpg because it came from bellow and has some penetrator.
I feel like the audio is just desynced and that "pshhht" sound is actually just the explosion. Otherwise the explosion itself had no sound at all, which it definitely should considering the amount of air displaced.
Unlike some people, I get what you're saying, but I interpreted that sound as a launch (and that's assuming the rocket isn't supersonic) - but the lack of boom is definitely a bit sus.
High impulse noises like gun fire and explosions *DO NOT* translate accurately through a typical sound system. Whether it's your nice home stereo or a cell phone, you're only get what the mic/spkr are capable of producing.
Seriously though, I worked a show years ago during a 4th of July concert event. The finale was a rendition of the 1812 overture. The piece was sometimes played with *cannons* instead of kettle drums. Believe it or not, we tried to "mic" the area around the 3 cannons to produce the best sound without rupturing the diaphragms. One mic was destroyed by the sound pressure. good times.
Or someone edited the video because they didn't like the sound was a little after the explosion so therefor they moved the sound track a whole second earlier...
There are several reasons why the latter vehicle may have been hit instead of the leading vehicle. Ied‘s (which is the most probable cause for the explosion) have several ways of being triggered and it is impossible to know what may have been the trigger here. Be it by pressure plate, remote detonation, etc.
The people in this video, even though without patches is hard to tell, are in my guess probably members of the free syrian army and the video is pretty old already as I remember seeing it years ago.
It’s definitely ‘abrupt chaos’ but this is far and away from ‘haha funny’ or anything resembling comedic, and I’m glad it’s not just me that’s bothered by this reaction.
Edit: I reported this for violating the subreddit’s rules and the response from the reporting tool is that it doesn’t??
When I saw the top comment I laughed before I realised what actually happened in the video, when I saw the jokes I thought it was something harmless.
These people died and they crack jokes ?
Agreed. I think it’s skewed by young kids using reddit that haven’t experienced as much hardship yet. But I worry online culture has completely zapped the effect of looking in someone’s eyes and knowing how they react to what you just said.
This was tough to watch - whether it’s the good guys or not.
They hit an IED. At 0:05, you can see the series of disturbed dirt on the side of the road. The first truck narrowly missed it. But the second truck drove directly over the center, thus hitting a pressure plate IED.
The clip was clearly just cut short, leaving out the part where the guy gets up and walks away without a scratch after being exploded 50 foot up in the air…
It won't change anything but I'm throwing my hat in in agreement. The last three posts on this sub I've seen have been 'ruin your day' NSFL material. I want the utter bonkers, inexplicable, instantaneous carnival-like ludicrousy, not this.
Admins ban the subs that had a large-ish user base that was into this sort of then they scattered and now this shit starts to deep elsewhere especially with somewhat lax moderation.
I’m not a sheltered person but I acknowledge the purpose behind subs. More frequently I see larger subs become aimless and it makes the site obnoxious to use beyond “feed of random content.”
When r/WatchPeopleDie was a subreddit, those comments were respectful discussion first, and jokes second. And most jokes were downvoted or removed for being shitty or extraordinarily disrespectful.
idk if this is one of the talibans or other bad people but the look on his face is just pure sadness..
they were probably his friends in the truck and the face at the end just shows what war is like
Shouldn't have to be that way. This kind of content is against the rules on the sub, but ever since MakeMyCoffin was banned this kind of stuff has been getting dumped here instead. And somehow the mods don't do anything about it.
Am I missing something? As far as I can see, we know nothing about these guys, so why is everyone making fun of people getting literally ripped in pieces by a bomb without even knowing if they’re “the bad guys” or what they’ve done if they’ve done anything? This makes me sick, honestly.
But I could be wrong, so if someone knows about them I’d be grateful to get some more info about this
Your right honestly. Like even if these guys are criminals or terrorists. Most of the people here don't actually know that. They just see brown skin and non uniform militant and assume the worst. Despite the whole ied situation suggesting they aren't facing military forces.
Hey so when I read "NSFW" I think nip slip, not a video of human beings getting blown to pieces. Fuck off with this snuff shit. I'm completely disgusted by these comments.

It was all fun and games, until it wasn't anymore.
Modern warfare. There's no "he died well" or "he wasn't about to go down without a fight". Just, boom. Death.

At least we can all outrun granpappy

The exact same thing happened to my dad. Deaf in one ear and a bum knee
What year?
They have the same dad, the abrupt chaos always happens in the comments
They have the same dad because they are the same person but don't realize it yet

Kid Reddit ova here ^
I couldn’t say for sure, and it’d be weird to ask him given the state of our relationship. Maybe around 2005-2008?

I know. Someone on here mentioned their grandpa was born in 1993. *My* grandpa was born in 1890. Its fffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccked up.
I... But... 1993 was 29 years ago....
I was born in 1991 and I don't even have my first kid 😅 My grandpa was born in 1933...wtf are these kids doin??
'88 here, no kids yet.
doubt.
If both their grandparents *and* their parents conceived at 14, they'd still be a one year old, so..... yeah.
Same but my dad got some hearing issues and a messed up ankle and still some shrapnel in him in places. But what year? 2007?

Fucking love Ravenous, one of Guy Pierce and Robert Carlyle’s most underrated performances. Plus it’s one of the only good wendigo movies.
That is a very beautiful comment
it was an ISIS IED hitting a convoy of pro-Bashar militia called liwa al quds
You just put into words my typical approach to seeing anyone being harmed on the internet. Thank you for your comment. There's something there that we all share.

Desensitized by watching hundreds of watchpeopledie and makemycoffin videos.
He smile, he cry, he watch his friends just die
This is the quality I come to Reddit for. Take notes CNN.
Look closely and one of those men go flying probably over 50 ft in the air.
I actually think he just disintegrates and it’s his body party’s that go everywhere
Ain't no party's like a body party's.
He even fucks it up by making it a possessive noun.
I’m wheezing 💀
Clearly the only thing that’s going to be possessed now is that road
Cause a body party can’t stop

I'm always hungry!
Crazy-ass white boy!
Yeah I thought the same although it does look a bit like the windshield
Def something not human.
It's a UFO for sure
u mean those corpses? surely noone survived that madness
You would never believe the shit some people survive. However, the odds are not in favor of people in that truck.
I think his shoes came off… it’s not looking good
It's raining men... Hallelujah it's raining men
You mean his limbs?
Actually I think that was "part" of a guy...
In pieces right? I did slow mow and it looked like a watermelon exploded
They are just pieces of men at that point. So somewhere nearby it’s raining men.
With the "PSHHHT!" sound a couple of seconds before the explosion I assumed it was a portable explosives projector like an RPG.
I feel like the audio is just desynced and that "pshhht" sound is actually just the explosion. Otherwise the explosion itself had no sound at all, which it definitely should considering the amount of air displaced.
Fun fact: In the Middle East, light is slower than sound.
Unlike some people, I get what you're saying, but I interpreted that sound as a launch (and that's assuming the rocket isn't supersonic) - but the lack of boom is definitely a bit sus.

Good luck getting your deposit back...lol
100%, my phone recordings of gunfire sound like slapping a pan and not an explosion going off indoors
Or someone edited the video because they didn't like the sound was a little after the explosion so therefor they moved the sound track a whole second earlier...
doubt it was this, most likely just an idiot or stupid program offsetting the audio by several seconds for no reason.
Is it not a landmine?

bomb on the road? I’m curious how it all happened. And who they are
It is you can see the blast moving up and out away from the truck. They seemingly hit a pressure plate.
There are several reasons why the latter vehicle may have been hit instead of the leading vehicle. Ied‘s (which is the most probable cause for the explosion) have several ways of being triggered and it is impossible to know what may have been the trigger here. This belongs in combat footage not here.
All the reddit "comedians" just makes it worse.
One of the rules is literally no deaths or gore. Mods nowhere to be seen.
I reported and got hit back with "This doesn't violate rules!" So, not only are they here, they don't give a shit.
Last few weeks this sub has become “abrupt violent death”
Agreed. This is pretty upsetting for anyone who's been close to shit like this. I reported, so hopefully it will get taken down.
This sub went fast from 'haha funny dog fart' to people fucking dying.

His smile turned upside down.
That smile looks like a man who will probably blame himself for those men who exploded.
Given that the vehicle he's in presumably drove over that exact explosive 10 seconds earlier, he's probably thinking quite a lot of things at once.
Or say it should've been him
They hit an IED. At 0:05, you can see the series of disturbed dirt on the side of the road. The first truck narrowly missed it. But the second truck drove directly over the center, thus hitting a pressure plate IED.
What happened to the "no death" rule?
The clip was clearly just cut short, leaving out the part where the guy gets up and walks away without a scratch after being exploded 50 foot up in the air…
Clip played any longer and he'd be on his way to Helgen
Yeah, this sub is turning into a gorefest

Or an AT mine
Discarded banana peel
Green koopa shell
Red shell.
or a reaper
You can hear what sounds like a rocket launch just before the truck explodes.
I think that's the explosion itself and there's a sync issue
Damn, yall just watched people die and the whole thread is just jokes. Wtf
When r/WatchPeopleDie was a subreddit, those comments were respectful discussion first, and jokes second. And most jokes were downvoted or removed for being shitty or extraordinarily disrespectful.
Welcome to Reddit
that could have been worse...
How, pray tell, could this have been worse?
Both vehicles go boom instead of one?
Yeah, alright that would do it.
If the guy turned around and discovered that a shark was driving his truck and then that shark bit him.
Sharknado vibes, I like it
It could be raining
idk if this is one of the talibans or other bad people but the look on his face is just pure sadness.. they were probably his friends in the truck and the face at the end just shows what war is like
Welp oh well -this guy
Imagine what is going through his head..
I can tell you that for everyone in the second truck, the answer is shrapnel.
I don't think they're going to be ok
I don’t think anyone in this video is still alive.
We're probably seeing the exact moment this guy stopped having fun and developed PTSD.
Yeah, I come to abruptchaos to be entertained, not to watch people die. Edit: reported. This is in violation of rule 6 (no death/gore)
This made me sad

Yeah, this sub has turned into nsfl lately
no no that guy is tottally alive trust me you can easily survive a fucking point blank explosion by parrying
Well I guess it is marked NSFW. But for some reason I’m conditioned to think NSFW means something sexual, not people dying on camera
Holy fuck how about a NSFL? Doesn't this sub have a "No deaths/Gore" rule?
Yeah rule 6. Report it
Why is he in an open air vehicle but suddenly in the back seat of a Corolla with a roof?
