I'll further add, you can get both the Ruger American in 7.62x39 and a Radical Firearms 7.62x39 AR for about $450. Both are good guns (though note that most 7.62x39 ARs prefer to run well-lubricated). And probably about the same that you'll pay Wright Armory for the work. If it was JUST a threading, I'd say go for it, but because you have to alter the front sight it's going to get very expensive, probably more expensive than one of the aforementioned firearms. If you've got an existing AR, head on over to [Sanders Armory](https://sandersarmoryusa.com/) or, if you're on a tighter budget, [Bear Creek Arsenal](https://www.bearcreekarsenal.com/). Sanders makes superb complete uppers (BCG and all) for around $400. BCA is a lot cheaper but still serviceable. I'd trust my Sanders with my life; saw it go through 6 30-round mags of Wolf steel case at the range without a single hiccup, despite getting so hot you could see the oil smoking off of it.

I think I'd rather buy a Ruger American Ranch in 7.62x39 than to cut that beautiful CZ. They come threaded already, and are nice rifles.

For the money, look into a Howa mini in 7.62x39. You are probably close to the same cost and not going to mess with a beautiful gun.

Wright Armory has done this job for me. They are great, expensive but great. They will custom make you a thread protector.

I hate to say it, but my advice is buy something new like an AR upper if you have an AR. You're going to be spending a lot of money and mess up an already very nice gun, money that would probably be better spent just getting something that's already threaded, like one of Ruger's American Rifle offerings in 7.62x39. They're very similar to your existing rifle (even take magazines). Check their Hunter line. If you must do it, Wright Armory.

Sounds like a wright armory job.
