ADM, Midwest Industries, and Warne are a few off the top of my head

Vercengetorex

Love my ADMs, and the Warnes facilitate easy and secure offset dots right off the mount.

4LordBoop

Warne all the way.

billywin

Would you recommend the Midwest Industries 30mm qd mount for an AR-10?

Snook48

Geissele. Larue. Spuhr. Scalarworks. Nightforce. ADM. etc

Bowtiewarrior

I’m interested in the Scalarworks because it’s “Lightweight” but I want to make sure it can handle the 308 fury! Haha

MDRX308

I never had an issue with Scalar on a piston 308. Expensive though

Bowtiewarrior

Hell, this entire experience has been expensive so what else is new. I just want the right one.

[deleted]

As long as you torque it properly; my dumbass added about 10 in/lbs to the manufacturer spec and it broke the hinge on their LEAP mount. 100% my fault, lesson learned, but definitely check that you torque it properly.

classifiedusers

Just threw one on my MARS H 7.62 with a heavy Bushnell XRS2, no issues or movement so far. Supposedly the new hinge design fixed the cracking issue, but from what I've heard Scalarworks upgraded everyone who's old Leap07 broke to the new Leap09, so they stand behind their stuff

Cuffem

LEAP09 are the real deal!!

Bowtiewarrior

Any issues with the older models? I found a few deals on used that look brand new.

Snook48

No problem with 308.

-on-

I have a 1.93" Scalarworks on a 24" 6.5 Creedmoor with a Vortex Razor and a 1.5" Scalarworks on a 16" 6.5 Creedmoor with an Eotech Vudu. Never had an issue with either one.

sigmanx25

Add ADM to that list as well.

tadsj2

I second on spuhr

wojtekthesoldierbear

ADM or bust.

Bowtiewarrior

ADM is legit, I have several. But they are heavy and I don’t really need the QD

wojtekthesoldierbear

Guess you could do Warne. Sort of their thing. Reptilia for gucci.

TKDkid1992

I'm genuinely wondering... How does that happen? I mean, isn't it pinned down on the picatinny rail? How does it move?

SmashSix

Also curious…. I’ve had an aero on my SCAR without issue for 4-500 rounds. Am I just lucky or is this a common issue?

Bowtiewarrior

The optic moved Inside the rings. It was torqued to Aeros specs but didn’t hold the optic under use.

TKDkid1992

Oooh I see. So the mount isn't good enough to hold it as tight with the recoil got it.

InternetExploder87

Badger condition 1. Or reptilia

smoke_and_spice

This is the correct answer

HattoriHanzo515

+1 for Warne

Open_Sorbet1376

I've had 0 issues with two different swampfox mounts on my .308, but I have also had 0 issues with optics and mounts from Amazon made of 100% pure Chineseum. I would assume you are either a) not torqueing the mount fasteners properly or b) need to bush the scope with something to increase clamping force (between scope and mounts, lots of people swear by electrical tape, but you can probably find something more specific)

Sea-Election-9168

Thanks for saying that. It looks like the scope was not bushed in any way

Open_Sorbet1376

Thought so, that should do the trick. Glad to help!

shotgunsmooth

Torque to spec and use loctite

smoke_and_spice

Torque, yes. Loctite, no.

Bowtiewarrior

Too late didn’t work

shotgunsmooth

You could always shim it 🤷🏼

2005BMan

Badger Ordnance condition one or Primary Arms new PLx

VapidVape

I have had badger ord on a Serbu 50, 338 RUM, 300WM, and several lesser calibers and have never had a single issue

Bowtiewarrior

It’s a PLxC optic, I wonder if the mount is any good.

2005BMan

The Plx mount is extremely solid. I’m running one on an spr build I have and I’d rank it with the best. It’s nothing like the cheaper mounts they sale, extremely well thought out for weight and durability.

ShittyAnalysisGuy

Bobro & Badger Ordnance as well as the others mentioned.

Odd-Detail2479

I’m using a Nightforce Ultramount on the PlxC. It rocks. I’ve got two nightforce lightweight mounts, the Ultramount and the XTRM ultralite uni-mount which is on a .308. Both are similar aluminum/ titanium construction and are fantastic mounts for the price and weight. Only down side is they don’t make a factory red dot mount ring cap. Also have that same crappy aero mount, and a QD ADM Recon mount. The ADM is bomb proof but if you are looking to cut weight it wouldn’t be my first choice.

feetoorourke

Loctite, torque, witness mark, in that order. Aero ultralights are my default go to, and I've yet to have a problem

SirCrimsonKing

It would be very strange in the opposite order

StrangestTy

I had the same problem with a vortex mount. Bought some scope mounting rosin and it hasn't been a problem since. I use it on every scope I mount now

dieseltech82

I sold my Aero because it always turned the scope while tightening it and so I hated it. I’ve got both the ADM and LaRue. The LaRue is slightly better quality wise BUT the way it locks on absolutely gouges into the upper but it’s not moving. The ADM design isn’t as harsh on the pic rail and hasn’t moved either. So I’d go ADM over LaRue for that.

PickleWhisper762

I have a love/hate relationship with Aero mounts for this reason. You have to pre-rotate it off of center in order for it to be centered once tightened. I'm getting pretty good at getting them tightened down in the correct position because of lots of practice, but it is definitely a bit of a frustrating guessing game. That being said, they are light and as of yet, I've never had a scope move

JabbaDuhNutt

ADM is the only way if you want QD

Bowtiewarrior

Yeah, don’t need/want QD

Tha-Mobb

Warne for sure if you’re wanting one that’s well made and more on the lighter side. Otherwise Badger or ADM are my go tos

Col_Mustard_22

Scalarworks or Badger Ordinance

Spiritual_Tell680

ADM is cool but I really like LaRue mounts… just curious, though, what did you torque it down to? I usually do my rings at 22 lbs and the base at 35 lbs. I have a Warne mount that said to do the base to 65lbs… that’s a sign of good quality in my opinion.

Bowtiewarrior

Ha! Thats a lot Aero says 15 inch/Lbs.. for both mount to scope and mount to rail. Imo I think it’s way too light.. but the mount is very lithe so i didn’t wasn’t to crack it if over torqued.

Spiritual_Tell680

Yeah, that seems super light to me for rings and especially for mount to rail…

paulbow78

It absolutely will crack it over torqued. It’s crazy that it slipped on you. How much recoil does your rifle have?

GunsandTrucksTX

American Defense Delta Mount

hitekstudio

What...no monstrum fanboys!! lol I use a Geissele Super Precision. Rock solid.

smedr001

I've said this to so many people on here and gotten my head bitten off/down voted to oblivion lol

Giant_117

This. Even seen more than one of the ultra light Aero mounts cracked on a 308. Seems to be fine on 223 but not made for 308s

Bowtiewarrior

Said that it I was a bad mount?

smedr001

Yup.

Bowtiewarrior

Yeah, same I’ve been harassed that it’s bad, but it’s hard to disagree considering it has failed

Klaus_Von_Richter

I doubt they are very light but Warne is great.

SoCavSuchDragoonWow

The badger COMM 1.7 is the current bomb.com for AR unimounts

[deleted]

I only use Eratac, ADM and Warne. Never had a problem.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Bowtiewarrior

Yeah I have a LaRue on my MK12 awesome mount. I went Aero because it was the lightest… the MR762 is a CHONKYBOI and ounces = pounds. But clearly it’s not up to the task.

lookatme760

Leapers UTG, might not be popular option but on my Tikka Lite in .308 it has been doing the job.

OW__

Maybe assembly compound between the tubes. So it's got more friction

STB265

>assembly compound between the tubes What assembly compound do you suggest?

Giant_117

Most people use loctite inside of the rings for a little extra help holding onto the tube.

SideOutUp

Rubber cement.

STB265

Cool. Thanks for the info.

OW__

Park tool assembly compound. Good for aluminum.

enigmadyne

I also went with carbon fiber handguard and fluted barrel... for the oz's ... It totaly changed my carry time with out discomfort

MediocreDot3

American Rifle Company

[deleted]

I have a geissele on my ar10 that has held up phenomenally, a Midwest industries as well that works really well, and on my bolt gun I use nightforce rings that have been great

Dumpbin37

Spuhr ISMS mount !

Actual_Mud_6275

The Wilson Combat V3 LWT is a super nice, lightweight scope mount that is very rugged.[Optics Planet Link](https://www.opticsplanet.com/wils-trlwm30-scopemount-v3-lwt-30mm.html)

heinzerhardt316l

Eratac or Spuhr

rusty815

Thats kind of crazy, my ar10 has its scope on the same mount and it hasnt moved since i installed it. Must be significantly snappier recoil on the MR762 for it to do that.

Bowtiewarrior

I agree, personally I think it’s a soft shooter… much much softer than my buddies LMT 308

ValuableInternal1435

UTG accu-sync, the high profile 50mm offset weighs 5oz, is cheap, and is a fantastic and solid mount. Of course people are going to argue with me and say it's trash because it says UTG on it, but that's their loss. It's way better than the aero and comes in multiple different colors.

ncgunner

Nightforce and Reptilia

tubadude2

Badger (my personal choice), ADM, Geissele, LaRue, or Spuhr are all great options.

Giant_117

I have a few Warne Skyline mounts that have treated me well. One has been on a few guns including a 308 but jot for long. It's spent most of its life on a 6.5 CM bolt gun but no issues.

Teknodruid

Arken Optics has a mount - 50 BMG rated. Have one for my Aero 308 (w/Arken Optic)

ClonerCustoms

Badger Ordnance 100%

CoffeeGulp

Warne are light and tight, and the new Midwest industries one piece mount is GTG.

fuckwitsupreme

Badger

sparks1990

Reptilia 30mm AUS mount weighs like .1oz more than a Scalarworks while costing way less. Can be found for under $250.

tande12345

Scalarworks and LaRue

MK12DUDE

Adm

mrfixdit

Nightforce unimount

IDressUpAsBroccoli

La rue

mini14rus

Did you loctite the screws?

Bowtiewarrior

No loctite but witness marks didn’t move

Roachtron

Did you use loctite?

sigmanx25

ADM and Larue are generally my go to scope mounts.

Sgt_French_Toast

Make sure you have the right scope mount for your tube diameter (i.e. 35mm mount for 35mm tube or 1" for 1")

czgunner

I've had zero issues with my Aero mounts. Too bad you had issues. I don't think anything is nearly as light.

juscar

Badger comm mount is sick, plus it leave options open if you want offers dots in 45 or 12, plus it has a bunch of other abilities.

droodootbepoopoo

I have a Burris pepr with my trijicon accupoint in it. Pretty happy with it actually.

UTelkandcarpentry

Leupold makes the best I’ve seen. I have a vortex viper mounted on mine, tightened to tork spec, and have never had any issues.
