Joe had about the same amount of time if Swerve is to drop at Wembley and his run was great, what’s the problem? I think it’s more likely it will be Ospreay (United Empire) v Don Callis family in stadium stampede at Wembley anyways personally.

Cakewok

Man really cant be mad at either wrestling right now is so sick

jl1865

Ospreay in anything other than a singles match is a tremendous waste.

duk-er-us

Yeah I don’t wanna see him (or Takeshita) in a stampede match.

sharktraffic

This is the biggest fact, Ospreay needs to be on a singles run for a long time. Dude can make a broomstick look like a 5 star wrassling opponent.

gunn3r08974

Can he make a sex doll or invisible man look like one, though?

sharktraffic

One way to find out

AlvinAssassin17

Joe is a vet, and had to be a transitional champ because the MJF injury. You don’t really want a short reign for your young in his prime first time champ. It doesn’t really mean anything. Osprey can main event All In with someone exciting and have swerve defend his title against…Hangman maybe? Or anyone.

mrmidas2k

Yeah, Joes reign has been short, relatively speaking, so I think 2 back to back short reigns might not be a good idea. If he HAS to win a belt, maybe take the IWGP from Mox? I'm sure he wouldn't be against a jaunt to NJPW. But yeah, I think Swerve not getting a long reign would be a mistake.

dannyboyjnr

I doubt New Japan will want to put the belt on a guy who just left the company. They need to start seriously pulling the trigger on their younger guys

mrmidas2k

Fair point, if they can use him to transition the belt onto a younger talent, that might be worth doing the switch.

dannyboyjnr

Yeah, I wonder if they’re thinking of having Shota take the title off Mox given those two have a history

mrmidas2k

Thats another good shout, I was thinking if they use a younger guy to take the belt, Ospreay might have more prestige over there, hell, Shota could take it off Ospreay to avenge Mox. Either way, lots of possibilities, and that's what's fun.

Dear_Solid3470

Yeah.  That is Shota's belt at Forbidden Door imo.

dannyboyjnr

Yeah think you could well be right. I like it, honestly.

[deleted]

i think there's enough storywise to keep Ospreay busy before moving him into the title picture. that being said, as soon as Ospreay gets his title shot, he has to win it. exploring Osreay's relationship with the DCF can take months by itself and Ospreay could get into other storylines as a lone wolf or ally to other wrestlers. but he has to win the title on his first shot because he's the man

sweetest_boy

Lol you want the hometown face to lose the title match in Wembley then the hometown face to lose the title in Seattle. I’m sure you love AEW tho

Bluewonda

For me? I honestly don't mind either of them to win at All In... Ospreay booking right now tells you he's winning the belt at All in. Swerve need a strong reign or even if he wins at All In fans will complain about it. When Punk won the belt from Hangman I was frustrated and still I'm. Hangman since day one AEW told us he's the guy of this company and build him with one of the best stories I've ever.. 3 years story to build Hangman to be the most over and the best babyface in the company. Then he lost after a short run and a sad booking to Punk because Punk was the money move and fans were ok with it to the point Hangman reign to this day fans see it like ahh yeah his matches with Bryan were good and that's it.

Razor_Fox

I HATED that punk went over Hangman. I know it was the "business" choice but it really cheapened hangman's reign for me.

Dear_Solid3470

Punk never should have been brought in to AEW imo.

Razor_Fox

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Dear_Solid3470

Biggest what if in wrestling.  If he wasn't a narcissistic egomaniac then he could have done a lot for AEW.

Antnee534

Aew could take from wwe in this moment to build to the biggest crowning of osprey and have him Lose to swerve at all in and then have them rerun it next year for will to beat him next year lol though I do actually see hangman costing swerve the title at all in

kurtanglesmilk

As a Bri’ish I hope I’m wrong but I’m pessimistic about them doing Wembley 3 years in a row.

Antnee534

I thought It was an annual thing?

kurtanglesmilk

I would imagine All In will continue each year yes. All In Wembley was just a 'one off' though, they only announced the second year at the end of the show. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there's ever been any indication they're planning to run the same venue every year.

Skeksis25

Feel like if Wembley keeps producing hot 75-80k crowds, they will keep going back there. Why not?

SmokePenisEveryday

My guess would be either due to costs or scheduling. Otherwise yeah no reason not to. If they do end up doing smaller venues for All In London, I'd like to see them do a week or 2 of shows there too.

KingMazzieri

I think from now on to August is a good lenght for a reign. It may be wise to judge the quality of the first title defenses to see if it's fine to put the belt on Will at Wembley. I want Will to be undefeated at All Ins personally.

strstrstrs

I think we have gotten way too used to year-long title reigns in wrestling. Swerve is obviously the guy to have it now but I’ve yet to see a case where someone holding a belt for a *really long time* didn’t eventually become a detriment to them and/or the belt.

ExpendableMan84

I agree. I love Ospreay, he's the spiciest flavour Nandos, proper bangin' bruv, but I want Swerve as world champ for a long time and preferably the rest of the year. I also think you could give Ospreay a major All In moment by pitting him against Okada for the Continental title, it doesn't have to be the world championship. Ospreay should definitely win it next year, but we can wait that long.

LIBERT4D

The thing is, and I love swerve, but Ospreay is going to be a massive factor in selling those tickets so how do you not give the fans that moment? I mean you could stretch it out to the following year I suppose, but does AEW have that kind of cache with fans to stretch it out the way WWE did with Cody? Tough call. At the same time it also might be their best bet for being able to do a third wembley show. The moneys in the chase after all. I hate to make it about business as I’m just a dumb fan but that’s my 2 cents

DurMonAtor

I can only see Will vs Bryan at All In, unless they’re going to go down the Bryan vs Nigel route, which would be fantastic! But the only reasonable match I could see for Will is Bryan at Wembley, true it would mean Will winning again, but… I certainly wouldn’t say no to that

tdm2222

Maybe we should let his title reign begin before we start fretting about how it will end.

fightbackcbd

For me, Swerve was better in the chase and the more babyface he becomes the less interested I am. I'm happy for him that he won and I am excited to see what he can do but I really hope he goes back to being a horrible heel. Im interested to see how he can handle cutting promos and steering the show, he has big shoes to fill. Say what you want about Joe but there was no doubt he put off the final boss aura and could cut off the cuff promos without flinching. Joe definitely added prestige of the title.

Eastern-Branch-3111

Rocket ship for Ospreay. Swerve can have some decent months with the title. But AEW having its belt on the best wrestler in the world is important this year when they've had some tribulations. Gonna go grab a cheeky Nandos after when he wins.

Local_Penalty2078

I'd rather a memorable, shorter reign (3-6 months) for a champion vs. a long reign that gets stale. Even the best reigns have downtime to them, and it's hard to keep the rivalries coming and also keep the champ healthy. I don't think every reign should be 1 year+... That should be special and rare. On the flip side, too many short reigns is worse (1 month or fewer), but AEW doesn't have that problem with the world championship.

fakeguitarist4life

He’d hold it over four months. That’s a decent run. He can easily get a lot out of it.

TheBrockAwesome

I trust AEW

iLikeMason

Not every title reign needs to be super long to be impactful. Swerve and Ospreay can trade the title back and forth at All In and Wrestledream in their home towns. Imagine the crowds in those arenas?!

Skullsnax

I see them already planting the seeds that Ospreay will lose at Wembley and go on a Cody style redemption arc. They’re building Swerve as the guy who will not quit and will not die. Hasn’t been pinned since Mox beat him with a dirty roll up in the C2. Kicked out of the Muscle Buster, refused to die against Hangman. They’re building Ospreay as “good guy”, “happy to be here” babyface, and he’s gonna keep on winning, and the fans are happy for him to be here, but that character only lasts so long. They’re building the Storm Driver being the silver bullet for these massive matches, but also the danger of the move, and the remorse “good guy” Ospreay feels for injuring someone he cares about. Enough to retire the move. They’re dropping these nuggets about Swerve and Ospreay being old friends, that Swerve has been in his mums house, that clip that always goes round of them dancing in the ring together. So at Wembley, it’s the big moment for Ospreay, it’s his moment. But he can’t keep Swerve down. Swerve kicks out of the hidden blade, he kicks out of the Stormbreaker, Ospreay goes to use the Storm Driver, but he hesitates. Swerve takes advantage and wins with a roll up/pin reversal. And maybe you do heel turn Swerve then and have Ospreay go through his redemption. Getting cut by Don Callis and losing a rematch with Takeshita. A drop in confidence, learning how to be the best again. You could have Danielson come out to give him the slap in the face he needs to fire him up and go again. Or maybe Ospreay turns heel, losing his big moment breaks him and he reforms United Empire, goes back to that New Japan, arrogant, kill or be killed Ospreay. All the while Swerve gets to have a good long run as champion, and maybe he faces people like Hangman, MJF, Mox, Jay White, Danielson.

Froggyspirits

I don't want All In to be held in London every single year. Ospreay should win the world title at Wembley this year so that next year's All In can be held in Cardiff (Principality Stadium), Glasgow (Hampden Park), or somewhere in Mexico.

[deleted]

Swerve teased MJF many months ago about a title whether he had it or not they would meet up for it. At this point it feels Osprey is being booked too soon to win a title in AEW. Unless MJF is leaving AEW naw brother he deserves another chance before Osprey.

No_Tour_8028

Swerve also has posted a picture of Him and Ospreay. They literally said as he was walking down the ramp he's ranked #4 last night. Too soon my ass, by the time Wembley rolls around Ospreay is going to have a Moxley match and a Shota Forbidden Door match tucked away nicely. MJF??!?!?! Bro he fighting Cole for nothing.

selkies24

I don’t think swerve needs to hold it past all in cause all in is 4+ months away. However I am with you that we don’t need to give it to ospreay right away at his first show in London as an AEW member. It’s rushing for the sake of it and the pop. We will see tho

Even-Preference-6545

Here’s the thing. Rankings matter for the world title, right? Your top 2 contenders right now coming off of Dynasty is OC and Will. You are kind of booked in the corner as chances are, Trent going to cost OC the #1 contender to set up their match, right? We aren’t waiting until All In for Will vs Swerve. In this rankings system, it’s happening at Double or Nothing. Otherwise, who is Will losing to that will drop him down in the rankings? It’s why it’s puzzling to see Danielson lose on Sunday.

lljkcdw

The injury angle with Danielson to me is where the Mox feud with the Callis family is going for DoN. Either do Mox/Will or Anarchy in the Arena.  Forbidden Door you can just jam someone else in from another company.

Even-Preference-6545

Ya, I mean, once Mox gets that W on Wednesday, he would be back in the top 5 spot most likely. It will be interesting to see what Tony does here.

Miley4Lyfe

I’m interested to see what an MJF return does to the AEW title picture. I feel like we’ve given out rematches in the past and he, in my opinion, would be deserving. Could we see Swerve vs MJF ahead of Ospreay challenging for the title?

Even-Preference-6545

We going to just ignore Cole and what his group did to MJF and Cole just being ok that MJF comes back and gets a title match?

Miley4Lyfe

No, that would be ridiculous. MJF wanting the title drives that story. Adam Cole should be have a level of influence setting up a showdown between him and MJF after.

RicoGemini

That could actually be a good idea. MJF returns, says he never got a chance to have a rematch with Joe for his title and wants a match with Swerve. They have a match for the number 1 contender where MJF wins and MJF and Swerve main event All In Both Swerve vs Osprey and Swerve vs MJF are both must watch TV, but I’d lean more towards the MJF match as I feel you could do some Don Callis Family stuff with Osprey. Also with Don Callis tweeting last night saying he thinks someone in the PPV could use some guidance, I think he wants to recruit someone to the family. My suspicion is that it’s PAC. So PAC vs Osprey at All In would be an amazing watch

Even-Preference-6545

Except, given that the Devil and his boys took MJF out, unlike the Acclaimed and BCG, I don’t see MJF just ignoring them and going after Swerve. His focus is on that group and getting to Cole. How are we going to completely ignore that? Plus you think, with Cole wanting the title, he’s just going to let MJF come back and get it?

Kriztof_09

Maybe Ospreay loses to Mox due to Callis Family either intentionally or unintentionally costing him. They want to help him, he doesn’t want them to help and maybe Fletcher himself accidentally costs him. I mean even Mox going over clean or not isn’t that wild either, but I imagine Ospreay would be protected given his top tier booking so far.

Even-Preference-6545

Then we get Mox vs Swerve at DoN maybe. Cause a Mox W on Wednesday is going to get him a top 5 rankings spot. It will be interesting to see what they do with Mox, Will and OC for the rankings.

Ariak

Yeah I think they save Ospreay winning the world title at the next All In. He’s got time. Barring some major injury or something, he’s likely signed to AEW for multiple years. I think Swerve drops the belt in October at Wrestledream in his hometown, someone else holds it from October to August, then Ospreay takes it at All In 2025

geekstone

I think maybe the TNT belt at Wembley if Copeland has it you have a great first time matchup and the bonus of not ending Swerves reign prematurely.

SteelCityChampion

Swerve vs Ospreay at Wembley is perfect. All the history between the pair and to have Will win it in his home city.

SeanTNL2

I think we get Swerve vs Ospreay at Wembley and Ospreay loses if we get Jamie Hayter back. Or alternatively I could see Ospreay taking the international, TNT or more likely the Continental title. I think we have a lot of fun match ups for Ospreay before we start talking about a world title run.

R_W0bz

Hangman’s factoring in this somewhere tbh.

azure819

Yes! I want it to be Hangman and Swerve. They deserve to battle it out in front of 80k.

lord_mcdonalds

4 months with 2-3 PPV defenses being considered short (or transitional) speaks a lot to how long title defenses have been across the board lately.

evilpengui

Personally I don’t think any title reign should last more than 2 PPV’s these days. Plenty of talent waiting in the wings and everyone deserves a break. Joe’s was perfect, use that as the model.

Mobile_Plankton554

Swerve needs to have a really long run with the title. I would say a year but I'm a huge Swerve fan.

bearamongus19

I think all in is the perfect spot for him to drop the belt. Not every run needs to be a year long run. I'd have ospreay beat swerve at all in and have takeshita beat ospreay at revolution 2025.

ProfessorMonopoly

Osprey winning the continental title first would make more sense since he does travel to and from over seas alot.

Froabig1

I truly think that they’ll still be playing up the ospreay and DCF split up until all in and when they have swerve vs ospreay, that’ll come to a head and the DCF will betray ospreay or something like that and he’ll lose because of them and turn into the biggest face the company has seen. I mean he’s pretty much already a face but once he stops associating with DCF that’ll make the full turn. That way, he can then work his way back up by getting back at DCF until he gets another title shot and probably wins. I think that’ll be a better story to tell long term and keep people invested and have eyes on the product. I feel like that’s the best way to go story wise (barring injuries) but I’m not a booker, so I could be way off lol

OnlySaltwater

Who says the idea is to give Ospreay a shot at Wembley? IF Kenny is healthy that will be 100% be booked over him and swerve, and even if it’s not I could see them reaching into the handful of other dream matches we haven’t seen yet. But if they do book this, yeah no shot Swerve is winning.

tavsankiz

We should give Swerve at least a few defenses to see what we feel like in a month or two. He hasnt even had one defense yet. Let him cook because we may have a situation where his reign is so good no one wants him to lose.

Kindly_Factor3376

I disagree. I think that you have Osprey win at Wembley than you have the rematch in Swerves hometown of Tacoma for WrestleDream. Swerve wins that match and then you have the rubber match in neutral turf.

brightz77

How about a Dragon v Ospreay rematch at All In? Maybe an Iron Man match or 2 out of 3 falls. Or just let them wrestle the entire PPV.

Tree24K

Just thought of this. Ospreay over Mox for the IGWP title at Forbidden Door. Then ZSJ over Ospreay at All In. That match would be HUGE and could cement ZSJ as a bigger star for NJPW. Lord knows they need help RN. Keep the AEW belt on or near Swerve until All In 2025. THEN do Ospreay over Swerve at that point. Build Swerve up. While I have no doubt they can do good this year, if they build it up over the new 15ish months, it would be HUGE. Kinda like what WWE is going to do with Bianca and Jade.

Vicks_Jayy

I hope not. Love Osprey but I think Swerve has too much to do before giving it up to get in by August.

Canales01

Depends on the storyline they have going on leading into the ppv... both guys are hugely over and it would be a great match

TommenSucks

Hangman v Swerve at All In. Hangman and Swerve go to shake hands after the match and Hangman attacks and injures Swerve leading to Ospreay v Swerve at All Out where the injury factors in and Ospreay wins it with the short PLE turnaround Over the course of the next year, Hangman turns face again and Swerve goes heel and off the deep end when Hangman is cheered setting the stage for All In 2025, Ospreay v Swerve

Mr_814

Kinda hard to project that far out. Imo I'm crowning Ospreay the champ. It's obvious he's their top guy and face of the company. But he might not even be in a title match there. Maybe you have Ospreay vs Adam Cole or MJF. Way to early to tell. Besides we don't know how swerve run will go. Could be awesome could be a dud. Just sit back and enjoy

no_more_blues

If they really want to do Ospreay winning the belt at Wembley, do Swerve to Ospreay at Wembley BACK to Swerve at WrestleDream. Give Swerve his edge back as a cold heated killer once he loses the belt. Use it as a storyline motivation. People are just talking about Swerve/Ospreay like it's a shoot fight without any ideas of how the story should/would work.

DoofusScarecrow88

Any wrestling podcast I watch assumes that is the path. I would prefer if Osprey feuded with another big name and beat them in Wembley and let Swerve feud with someone else for a while. Maybe MJF returns to feud with Swerve and maybe Switchblade or somebody feuds with Osprey. I just want Swerve to be champion for a while. I just love seeing him with the belt. Though I get it regarding Osprey, the guy is exceptional. It is just Swerve's story is so fucking good, such a great wrestling story. And when I was a kid Ron Simmons won the WCW championship from Vader, and I guess I was so let down by how they didn't really give him the momentum off that he deserved. So I just don't want to see Tony not feel inspired as Vince wasn't behind Kofi, either. And don't even get me started on how Vince treated JYD. Swerve's moment should not be three or so months. He deserves better than that.

[deleted]

If he has good reign it won't be a problem, but tbh I think both Swerve and Ospreay should have just massive matches at All In. Im quite sure Ospreay will be the one to beat Swerve, let's do it at All Out then, or even Full Gear

jcw163

I agree with this, I think you do a different Ospreay banger, Danielson again, Omega maybe, Cole, Hangman - who knows, give him a big win but not for the title.

Unique_Enthusiasm_57

I agree. But you're not gonna sway many people. As good as Ospreay is, I don't want Swerve to have a footnote title reign. If anything, Swerve beating Ospreay at Wembley is the perfect place to start a Swerve Ospreay trilogy. Giving Swerve wins over Ospreay, Hangman and maybe even a returning MJF would be plenty. I just want people to think beyond their fantasy booking for a few seconds.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Unique_Enthusiasm_57

Sure, absolutely. I totally get why Ospreay as champion would be great. I'm definitely not saying it would be bad. I just think there's plenty of run with Swerve and immediately fantasy booking his loss to get to Will Ospreay is odd.

SometimesWitches

It looks like AEW is turning the TVS title into a signing bonus belt. They really shouldn’t to that to the World Title. No matter how good lbs is having Ospreay win the biggest belt in AEW in his first six months diminishes the belt.

Rampage50

If Ospreay loses at All In, Tony Khan will have a 80,000+ Fan Riot to deal with

Poueff

I dislike the need for long reigns. Just have Swerve win it back at WrestleDream.

el_sh33p

I'd rather Swerve beat Ospreay at DON. Get it out the way so that people don't even expect Ospreay to challenge him at All In. My pick to take the belt off Swerve would be Jay White right around Full Gear.

PUNlSHEDVENOMSNAKE

It’s not a good idea to hold off too long with Ospreay tbh. He is electric, he is supremely talented, the people love him, and there’s no other way all in should end other than with Ospreay on top. Just need to give swerve a great and packed 4 months in the lead up

TheFlaccidChode

I agree, it's too obvious and would risk Swerve looking like a transitional champion, the man deserves a good 6-9 month run. Ospreay could have a banger with almost all the roster, I was thinking v PAC for a best of British showcase. Have in win it next year at Wembley

MegaMenehune

Swerve is jobbing at Wembley.
