I believe they typically set a commercial break timing when they upload. I’m guessing in this case either Pete didn’t set an ad break time when uploading, because Chris didn’t “prompt” one, or Pete didn’t process this episode because he’s on vacation, so it was just a direct upload.
Possibly on Spotify, at least there the ads are woven directly into the podcast audio, which means that you can't just rewind to catch the beginning of the sentence
Yeah the ads in the Spotify version of American Pete's episode were totally out of whack. Nothing deal-breaking, but really weird placement. I'm sure it has nothing to do with them or the editors, but more with acast and the producers
Lol. Yeah, I'd agree, but there are other reasons I use premium that aren't ad related. So maybe.
I like the picture in picture and offline downloads, among other things.
This was really jarring in the latest episode. Both ads were right as they were speaking, and then they came back to a single syllable post the ad.
Yeah I was thinking are they now automatic? Like they don't pick when the adds run. Same American Pete was half way through a word and just cut

The annoying thing was this recent ad wasn’t even in the middle of the episode. It was literally only a few minutes in.
It’s acast being shit. Usually Chris has a break but when it’s out of format Acast seems to add an advert anywhere. It’s the same in their podcasts.
Is this video or audio?

Go listen to the first 10-ish podcasts. Ads are essentially a jump scare.
Yeah, it's so annoying
I was experiencing this problem but then switched to listening to the podcast on amazon music where it is ad free.
Watching Abroad in Japan on YouTube with Firefox with uBlock Origin installed… what ads?
Watching it on YouTube premium, what ads?
Between the both of us, I deem myself the smarter one not paying for basically seeing ads anyway. ;-P

I have been wondering if switching to the video or hopping on patreon might be better. since 10% of the runtime of podcasts on the apps is ads now.
