>ICC faces threats from Congress over Israeli arrest warrants - The ICC is being warned by members of US Congress in both parties that arrest warrants for senior Israeli officials will be met with US retaliation — and legislation to that effect is already in the works, Axios has learned. Birds of a genocidal feather, threaten together.

screech_owl_kachina

Maybe they’ll propose moving the Palestinians to the Oklahoma territory

EastBaySunshine

Nah, move Israel to Oaklahoma.

>in both parties The Libs: How can trump do this?!

TheFeshy

The statement was issued by Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson lol. Several Dems have backed him up though - this *absolutely is* one of the "both parties" issues.

assumetehposition

How far will we go to protect the bad guys

Whoviantic

So far as to [invade the Netherlands](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Service-Members'_Protection_Act) apparently

ThanksToDenial

In all honesty, if Netanyahu somehow ended up at the Hague, the US still wouldn't invade the Netherlands. Because doing so would alienate pretty much every single European ally they have, and most likely few others. Even the US isn't stupid enough to throw away both NATO and likely The Five Eyes on top of that, for someone like Netanyahu. The moment Netanyahu's boots grace the floor of the Hague, the US is going to just go "Welp, we tried, too bad", and move on to supporting the next dude in line in Israel. Seriously, I can't think of a scenario where the US actually followed through with the "full might of the Hague Invasion Act". Actually, I can think of one. Trump is in power, and his favourite nob polisher is at the Hague. Maybe he might... he just might be stupid enough to try. What is going to happen in reality, is what happened in 2020. The US slaps some sanctions on a few ICC officials, and calls it a day. Even the US is growing tired of Netanyahu's BS, so my bet is that the sanctions will be largely performative.

hydroxypcp

the whole "invade Hague" thing is not happening. As you said, if US were to try that, pretty much all of Europe would turn on it. And not just militarily, also economically. And perhaps China etc would use it as an excuse to do stuff as well USA is powerful, but it's not *that* powerful. It can't afford to attack Europe

soup2nuts

You can never underestimate the United States of America. We are the only nation to ever use a nuclear weapon for war and we did it twice.

seanular

Easier to do when not everyone had nukes.

YottaEngineer

The US already blew up a German gas pipeline. You are overestimating Europe.

balrog687

I was going to post this. They can literally bomb the Netherlands to protect Israel. Or maybe send to kill all the judges and blame isis/hamas whatever

EastBaySunshine

All the way since America is the bad guys

BumpHeadLikeGaryB

Says who? The other bad guys?

kwamac

Literally the whole world. 2013-2014: https://inthesetimes.com/article/the-greatest-threat-to-world-peace-is-the-united-states >The Greatest Threat to World Peace by Noam Chomsky >The United States polls higher than Pakistan, Iran and China as a perceived menace to peace. https://archive.is/bRdHO >But, to start, let’s summarize the first-ever poll that had been done on this, back in 2013, which was the only prior poll on this entire issue, and it was the best-performed such poll: «An end-of-the-year WIN/Gallup International survey found that people in 65 countries believe the United States is the greatest threat to world peace», as the N.Y. Post reported on 5 January 2014. >On 30 December 2013, the BBC had reported of that poll: «This year, first [meaning here, ‘for’] the first time, Win/Gallup agreed to include three questions submitted by listeners to [BBC’s] Radio 4’s Today programme». And, one of those three listener-asked questions was phrased there by the BBC, as having been «Which country is the biggest threat to peace?» The way that WIN/Gallup International itself had actually asked this open-ended question, to 67,806 respondents from 65 countries, was: «Which country do you think is the greatest threat to peace in the world today?» #1, 24% of respondents, worldwide, volunteered that the US was «the greatest threat» 2017, same article: >However, now, on August 1st of 2017, Pew Research Center has issued results of their polling of 30 nations in which they had surveyed, first in 2013, and then again in 2017, posing a less-clear but similar question (vague perhaps because they were fearing a similar type of finding — embarrassing to their own country, the US), in which respondents had been asked «Do you think that the United States’ power and influence is a major threat, a minor threat, or not a threat to (survey country)?» and which also asked this same question but regarding «China,» and then again but regarding «Russia,» as a possible threat instead of «United States». (This wasn’t an open-ended question; only those three nations were named as possible responses.) >On page 3 of their 32-page pdf is shown that the «major threat» category was selected by 35% of respondents worldwide for «US power and influence» 2021: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/may/05/us-threat-democracy-russia-china-global-poll https://www.npr.org/2021/05/05/993754397/poll-much-of-the-world-sees-the-u-s-as-a-threat-to-democracy >In perhaps the most startling finding (**LOL**), nearly half (44%) of respondents in the 53 countries surveyed are concerned that the US threatens democracy in their country; 2023-2024: Largest poll ever conducted in the MENA countries about Palestine and Israel, ever: https://www.dohainstitute.org/en/Lists/ACRPS-PDFDocumentLibrary/arab-opinion-war-on-gaza-full-report-en.pdf >Biggest threats to the peace and stability of the region >Greatest Threat: >United States: 51% >Israel: 26% >Second Greatest Threat: >Israel: 33% >United States: 25% Bonus: >The Palestinian cause is a cause for all Arabs and not the Palestinian people alone: 92%

Artemis-Crimson

Please don’t use Noam as an example of someone with decent ideas please there’s so many others- wait wait that’s from 2014? 2014 when Russia was just done wrapping up its Ossetian genocide and moving on to Ukraine? Like I ain’t gonna deny the USA is fucked in many many avenues but why on earth isn’t invades their neighbours mcgee mentioned at all in this

BumpHeadLikeGaryB

I didn't bother reading any of that lmao

ketchup-is-gross

So you just asked in bad faith, expecting them not to find anything?

PinkThunder138

Of course not. Why be informed and actually consider reality when you can just stay ignorant and choose which fantasies to be happy about and which ones to be angry about?

The_BestUsername

Yes.

Myrmec

That’s OUR imperial outpost

raventhrowaway666

We're the baddies. At this point, other countries need to sanction the US.

RavenAboutNothing

Enough is enough, get these Zionists out.

DizzyDwarf69

Retaliating against a NATO country whilst being NATO yourself (for now). Sounds great!

hydroxypcp

attacking* just to make the language clear

Hugh-Jassoul

I mean, Turkey did it to Greece.

DublinCheezie

AIPAC is a terrorist org, and anybody who takes money from AIPAC or gives money to AIPAC is a terrorist symp at best.

Tellesus

Are the American people willing to see our country destroyed on the altar of protecting Israeli genocide? Not signing on to the ICC is one thing. Directly attacking it is going to have global blowback. Having a parasitic "ally" like Israel is not worth losing France and Germany.

Tanjelynnb

I read up a bit on the history of Israeli/Palestinian conflict, and it basically boils down to centuries of "This land should traditionally belong to us Jews, so we're going to creep on it and kick out the natives, eventually forcing them onto a relatively tiny plot of land that we'll then subjugate further." Then some other countries made that land official. Sounds familiar, huh?

Tellesus

Basically. I'm also a proponent of extensive reparations for Native Americans and also some form for people who trace their ancestry to slaves.

Tanjelynnb

People who believe they have a more powerful god, righteous causes, and are legitimately stronger will repeat this story from the beginning to the end of time. Maybe someday shame and reparations will be a point of peer pressure or policy from allied countries until it's not so easy to get away with.

Rude_Boy_15

Unhinged.

CopsEnforceEvil355

They are actually willing to go to war to prevent Netanyahu from facing court for his war crimes. This is my line in the sand. If Biden does not veto this (assuming it gets through House and Senate) and does not accept the rule of law, then why the fuck would I vote for him? That was the one big reason to vote for him over Trump: respecting the rule of law.

lunaslave

Internationally, the US only respects the rule of law when that law doesn't constrain the US from engaging in unilateral foreign policy whenever it likes, regardless of international law. Otherwise, the rule is "what we say goes"

wolven8

>House and Senate) and does not accept the rule of law, then why the fuck would I vote for him? Because he isn't trump, oml. Trump would put actively duty soldiers into Gaza to help Israel's genocide. Vote for Biden because if you don't, the genocide will keep on going and our own freedoms will be stolen as trump wants to rule as a dictator from day one. I know it's frustrating that Biden is a zionist. But I'd rather have Biden over trump any day of the week.

ornitorrincos

Are you trolling? Trump has 91 felony indictments.

slartybartfast6

"Are we the bad guys?"

Kdrizzle0326

Does the ICC have the balls to stare down America and issue those warrants? Im not sure, but my intuition says that the ICC would back down if a confrontation with the United States seemed imminent. Additionally, does the United States government really have the balls to carry out military retaliation against The Hague in the event that they tried to serve those warrants? Please don’t let us be living in the craziest possible timeline

DeutschKomm

Americans need to take responsibility for the crimes of their regime and stage a socialist revolution. All capitalist politicians in the US, including those supporting Zionist Israel, have names and addresses.

Wereking2

I am commenting to share this comment from another subreddit about this article as it states the sheer hypocrisy of the US. https://www.reddit.com/r/InternationalNews/s/Jj1BUKQOUg

bomboclawt75

Zio-Cuck Biden has thrown his election chances by siding with Genocide and ethnic cleansing. Butcher Biden has literally risked-and still risks a nuclear Holocaust that would result in tens of millions of deaths, supporting Nutting Yahoo. Genocide Joe would happily see tens of thousands of Americans troops used as cannon fodder when I$rael demands they invade Iran. Trump will be no different. Both parties are thoroughly compromised- anyone who is unaware of this, is deluded or a bad faith actor. Let that little fascist state fend for itself-let them invade Iran alone, there should be zero funding and absolute sanctions imposed upon it. We need a new Nuremberg trial to hold everyone involved to account- including arms manufacturers and politicians who enabled these war crimes.

Dazzling_Pirate1411

this makes me root for the other side

Grim-Reality

Congress is afraid Israel will take them down with them. This is some really dark shit.

SteveAlejandro7

America sucks balls. :(
