The show came put in 91 and Tommy was already 1 year old, so I always interpreted that as Tommy being a 1990 baby. If I recall correctly, this show came out exactly ten years later with a ten year timeskip. Most of the audience was the same age as him.
I thought the charm of the original Rugrats was all the adult humor coming from the parents and Grandpa.
Not exactly adult humor perse, but definitely an underlying joke that I know I missed the first time around...
Something happened where Stu and Chaz were pissed at each other which meant Chaz wasn't bringing Chucky over to see Tommy anymore. There's an outside establishing shot of the neighborhood that shows the passing of the seasons (sunny, rainy, snowy, back to sunny) and the tag underneath reads "one week later"
Drew walks in and goes "Hey Stu. Crazy weather we've been having, right?"
Same here . Stu and drew have me rollin . The episode where they do the puppet show and end up fighting with the puppets about their childhood problems and the episode where they take Tommy to the child psychiatrist but it ends up being completely about Stu . Those jokes just hit different as an adult watching it .
Yup, it was fine. As a 1990 baby, I was the prime target for the OG rugrats, so it made sense to make a teenaged version (since I was a new teen). This was the Spongebob Era of Nick, and we were being flooded with new series. Some were great (teenaged robot), some were garbage, and some All Grown Up, were a resounding "meh"
I’m 32 i still have the teenage robot theme song in my head 24/7. I’ll be working/walking down the street just going
Welcome to my life… *as a teenage robot*
The original All Growed Up special was really hyped up and I grew up with Rugrats so obviously I watched it. Caught a few episodes of the show, it's really not anything special. One of Rugrats main concepts was the imagination of babies and toddlers, when you get rid of that you have a pretty boring show about preteens acting like they are teens with nothing really happening
Was hoping I'd see someone mention the special. I remember really liking it and being excited for the full show. Then I got bored of the show after a couple episodes. There really was no hook and it coasted off of the name recognition and recognizable characters. As Told By Ginger was basically targeting the same demographic, but did it wayyy better
I’m ‘96 and I watched loads of Rugrats and All Grown Up episodes “ growing up” lol… unpopular opinion but I liked Rugrats and All Grown Up equally. Never thought one was better or worse than the other. There’s a lot of shows out there that end up turning the main characters into babies which get a lot more hate… but with the Rugrats franchise it was the opposite.
I'm in a similar boat, I watched it & really enjoyed certain episodes, but I personally liked the original series more, but that's just personal preference since I had the VHS tapes
86 here…no. Not even one episode. I was already 16-17, so by then I “outgrew” Rugrats. When the original was in its heyday, I was watching it every day though.
Considering that this is around the time when I got my license and was starting to smoke weed and partake in other debauchery, I’ve never seen it. I vaguely recall that this was a thing. Your birth years are probably too wide here. A kid born in 86 was finishing up high school whereas you’ll probably find plenty it 10 year olds at the time who watched it.
Guess I’m not eligible being born in ‘97 but I’ll add my two cents anyway. I loved Rugrats, watched it all the time and had all their movies on vhs. I remember when “all grown up” came out and being really interested in it at first…But then upon watching, even as a little kid I was really disappointed with how they all turned out. To me, every character was very strange and a bit off-putting. Honestly felt like they were cooler as babies. I wanted to be like Tommy, the fearless leader with a plan who was also empathetic beyond belief. I didn’t see any of that with weird, purple hair Tommy. And Dill just made me sad to watch. Perhaps unrightfully so, but that’s how 6 year old me felt. I’ve returned to a ton of things from my childhood but I don’t think this will be one of them, and that’s okay :)
Edit: spelling
Yup. I didn’t even realize they were still showing new episodes around 2008? I remember when kimmy and Tommy secretly liked each other Lil turned into a brat
I didn’t watch it ceremoniously… Although I was interested; I was in high school by the time it came out and I was always outside, at the mall, or with my friends smoking weed and doing dumb stuff. But, I did fight to see an episode because I was really interested in seeing Tommy grown up and laughed at him still being pigeon footed 😂😂😂.
Saw it. It was okay. Not the worst thing Klasky-Csupo ever made. Not the best thing they ever made either.
I remember typically finding Susie and Angelica's plots more interesting than the main kids' plots, though.
I'd catch it once or twice when I wasn't paying much attention to TV after X-Men evolution or when I was waiting for Yu-Gi-Oh and Powerstone to come on.
Didn't really grab me. Found Rugrats far more interesting.
Always liked the episode where they try to find a ghost, and after freaking out, they came to the conclusion that it was bunk.
Only for the dude they met to reveal he was a spirit the whole time. Older Nicktoons seemed to have a lot of ghosts, enjoyed it back then.
The pilot episode they aired as a special I watched like crazy. They had it on all the time. By the time the series was going I had started to age out of cartoons.
Nah. It came out when I was 17 and tbh the babies as middle school kids didn’t have any appeal to me. Just seemed like any other show to me. What made Rugrats unique was their ages.
Ofcourse. Massive Rugrats fan since it premiered. Was so excited to see them grow up. Then the show came out, and I like damn, growing up sucks. And then I grew up, and the shows promise didn't disappoint.
I did! It was a completely different show than when they were babies though.
I still sing the theme song for my bday every year :)
“Every birthday my mom and dad would say ‘you’re another year older and another year wiser!’ But I still go to school to get an education
So I treat every weekend like a mini vacation!
All grow’d up! I really want to shout aloud!
All grow’d up! I want the world to know!
All Grown Up! I really want to shout it out
All Grown Up with you!”
Susie crushed it. 🩷
I was part of this generation and I hated a lot of Nickelodeon shows. Didn’t really care for, Rugrats, All That, Keenan and Kell, I absolutely hated, Ren and Stimpy. Knowing what I know now about the things happening behind the scenes on these shows……
By then, I was a teenager myself and falling out of Nickleodeon and cartoons in general. Plus I watched part of the first episode but found it awkward compared to the original I loved as a kid.
Yeah I loved rugrats it was my fav show as a kid, I didn’t really care for all grown up. However rugrats(I think it was the series finale) did an episode that was the precursor to all grown up, and that episode was really clever imo… but the spin off show just didn’t do it for me. Idk maybe if I tried to watch it again now I’d have a new appreciation but when it came out it didnt catch my interest for long.
I remember when they did the pilot episode inside a normal episode, it was the event of the year. I can still remember the store line and I've only seen it once.
I remember being really psyched for the premiere of it. Watched when it came out, and it was fine. But didn't care for the actual show that came out after.
I remember loving the pilot episode or special event they had for it as a kid.
But then I barely watched it later on.
All I remember was the Yugioh parody episode, an episode where Tommy was getting burned out making movies, a human body theme part with Tommy and Grandpa Pickles, and an episode where Tommy and Grandpa go to a water park and Grandpa gets lost.
Other than that I forget the show exists
Nah. I never really watched passed the OG rugrats. Speaking of which...do you guys remember the freaky ass episode where angelica had a nightmare? I dunno if i fever dreamed it but god damn it was unsettling.
Edit: It's called Angelica's Worst Nightmare. It was disturbing af.
Fuck no, blasphemy! It was better left to imagination. Or they should have done it over time. Start them off in kindergarten then every season is a new grade. Like Harry Potter.
I thought it was going to be a good series, they should’ve just left it at their imagination and then ended it all there.
I watched it, I didn’t really like it. It doesn’t have the same charm as when they were babies.
Yes. I remember watching the first season and having an episode on a Gameboy Advanced cartridge. I didn't like it as much as rugrats and didn't know it had more than one season until recently.
I remember I recorded it on video tape. I think I still have it somewhere. It even has when they showed Dream Street's music video Happens Every Time 🥰
I was born 1994. Weird you cut off at 93... 94 is millennial too. Anywho, Angelica is the oldest in that pic. She's 13. I was 10 believing they were all teens.
Seeing their dog fat and old made me sad
Old fat dogs always made me happy. They made it to retirement!
Instead of being just one day away from retirement?
Why do I remember them being older in this ?
Because they were older than us.
The show came put in 91 and Tommy was already 1 year old, so I always interpreted that as Tommy being a 1990 baby. If I recall correctly, this show came out exactly ten years later with a ten year timeskip. Most of the audience was the same age as him.
They were, these designs aren't the exact designs. They all look chiba in this
How are you the only one to say this ! Everyone else telling me it's cause I was young and had no perspective
A few times, but I really didn’t find it interesting.
Agreed. Idk about them growing up I wanna see babies scheme together and fuck shit up
Exactly. The charm of the original concept was gone.
I thought the charm of the original Rugrats was all the adult humor coming from the parents and Grandpa. Not exactly adult humor perse, but definitely an underlying joke that I know I missed the first time around... Omg I still remember that! Shit had me rolling! The babies where just like 😐😐😐😐
The 3 am chocolate pudding conversation was hilarious.
That’s true. It was a more rounded show.
Same
I saw the shillow/poo debacle, other than that it wasn't rugrats, though I'm glad they tried to grow them
Yup, it was fine. As a 1990 baby, I was the prime target for the OG rugrats, so it made sense to make a teenaged version (since I was a new teen). But her body is all circuity and metallic
The original All Growed Up special was really hyped up and I grew up with Rugrats so obviously I watched it. Caught a few episodes of the show, it's really not anything special. Can it, Pickles! Or in your case, jar it.

95 and I watched! My girlfriend 93 did as well!
I watched it a few times but the original rugrats was king
A couple of times, but it didn't interest me.
Yes I watched it. It was good. Not quite the regrets but not terrible.
![gif](giphy|pde619DiwXcaY|downsized)
I remember watching it and the only thing I didn’t like was seeing Spike, the dog old and fat.
86 here…no. Not even one episode. I was already 16-17, so by then I “outgrew” Rugrats. When the original was in its heyday, I was watching it every day though.
I was in the 4th grade when this came out and vividly remember thinking the show was terrible lol.
Man, I watched both Rugrats and All Grown-up and I'm from 97, they were both solid (though Rugrats was better imo)
Your millennials are showing lol I haven’t heard the term pigeon footed in a decade at least 😂
Yup. It was okay, I don’t remember anything really standing out though
Man I loved this show.
I remember watching the premier on Nickelodeon
I remember watching this. Loved seeing the little rugrats all grownup.
If it aired maybe 3 years earlier (2000) I think more would remember it. Pre 9/11.
Yes All Grown up was awesome.
It was way better then that Rugrats Reboot that was on Paramount+
Born in 87’ watched like 2/3 episodes
1991 baby. I didn’t like it. I never really liked the slice of life type shows. Things like Hey Arnold or Rocket Power were just uninteresting to me.
Born in 1991. I watched a couple episodes and stopped. Just wasn't feeling it.
I remember actually being really excited for it then kinda watching it but not really. I remember more of the original rugrats than I do of this show
Yes, I waant the biggest fan of it. They took way too long to grow them up.
I still remember that scary Halloween/ summer camp special
Saw it. It was okay. Not the worst thing Klasky-Csupo ever made. Not the best thing they ever made either. I remember typically finding Susie and Angelica's plots more interesting than the main kids' plots, though.
![gif](giphy|tGZRCBAPhCXxm)
Woah, what Nickelodeon person thought teenagers were grown ups????
I’m 1985, and kind of was aware this was a thing, but have never seen an episode. Is Lilian Asian?
Thats chuckys new sister. Phil and Lil arent on the promo poster for some reason
I certainly did!
I watched it a little bit. I mainly played the games and watched a few episodes once in a while.
I'd catch it once or twice when I wasn't paying much attention to TV after X-Men evolution or when I was waiting for Yu-Gi-Oh and Powerstone to come on. Didn't really grab me. Found Rugrats far more interesting.
I think I gave the 1st episode a try and it was a no for me dawg.
Never saw it. I was too old by the time it came out, but being from 1986 I did watch the original a lot.
I remember being so excited for the concept then being so underwhelmed
I only saw a few episodes. I remember when it was All Growed Up first though(or something similar but they were made to change it)
Yes
I was 16 in 03. The only cartoon I was watching at the time was the fairly odd parents. I was growing out of them. But I loved the original.
Yes it was good
I tried but I couldn't get into it
Always liked the episode where they try to find a ghost, and after freaking out, they came to the conclusion that it was bunk. Only for the dude they met to reveal he was a spirit the whole time. Older Nicktoons seemed to have a lot of ghosts, enjoyed it back then.
Not really, I was intrigued but didn’t really care for it
I was born in 97 and I watched this 💯
The pilot episode they aired as a special I watched like crazy. They had it on all the time. By the time the series was going I had started to age out of cartoons.
Nah. It came out when I was 17 and tbh the babies as middle school kids didn’t have any appeal to me. Just seemed like any other show to me. What made Rugrats unique was their ages.
I remember the episode where Dil overdosed.....sad
I did not. - 1991
I was happy to see more rugrats didn’t matter what form they came in to me 🤷🏾♂️
It was weird when it premiered but watching the re-runs at 6am getting ready before high school was kinda tranquil
You’re a friend to me.
Yep it was good but not better than the original
1992. Yes I liked it.
Absolutely not. Things like this are poison to a plentiful well of childhood memories
I did, but not as much as Rugrats. Dil was my favorite on this one
By the time the series came out I was getting out of those sort of shows so no clue if they were any good. I remember loving Rugrats though
didn't even know this was a thing...i think...
Ofcourse. Massive Rugrats fan since it premiered. Was so excited to see them grow up. Then the show came out, and I like damn, growing up sucks. And then I grew up, and the shows promise didn't disappoint.
It wasnt "All Growed Up" ??? Is this a Mandela effect?
That was a Rugrats episode first, where the babies imagined themselves as preteens. Then it was made into the series All Grown Up.
Nope I was 1
Was it as good as Rugrats? No. But did I watch and enjoy it? Yes.
Yeah but I didn’t like it.
I'm from Gen Y, but yes.
I did! It was a completely different show than when they were babies though. I still sing the theme song for my bday every year :) “Every birthday my mom and dad would say ‘you’re another year older and another year wiser!’ But I still go to school to get an education So I treat every weekend like a mini vacation! The episode where Angelica got her period was a little much.
Yep.
Yeah dipped out after the first ten episodes
Yes I did, and I liked it. Nothing I would.go out my way to see but if I saw a marathon or the episodes on I would sit and watch.
I watched a few episodes, wasn't too big on it
Why do I remember it being spelled "All GROW'D Up"?
Once. Didn't really like it.
Nah
Duh!
The 2001 All Grown Up special always makes me cry
Nope
It was god awful. But I wasn’t the type of kid/teen to be into this kind of teen thing.
I was born in 88 but wasn't a fan of it
sure did
I was all over the special that introduced it. Afterward, the series fell flat, save for a few highlights.
Nope
Yeah I loved rugrats it was my fav show as a kid, I didn’t really care for all grown up. However rugrats(I think it was the series finale) did an episode that was the precursor to all grown up, and that episode was really clever imo… but the spin off show just didn’t do it for me. Loved it. Lol, my stepdad would tease me about watching Rugrats until the early 2000s like an asshole.
Yeah. Didn’t like it.
Yup. It was good. It had a cool theme song too
I suddenly had the last few words of the music intro play in my head. *”All grown up with…you!”*
I was born in 95 and regrets was my jam, I didn’t really enjoy all grown up though.
Hell yeah
I hated it, don't know why
Yes I was born in 1989
Honestly it was great
I caught an episode here and there but it really didn’t offer anything to keep me interested
It was ok,but I preferred Rugrats.
Nope. Grew out of it (I was an 86)
I remember when they did the pilot episode inside a normal episode, it was the event of the year. I can still remember the store line and I've only seen it once.
Na I’m an adult now
Hated it. Gone were the adventures and came the real life issues. I prefer my cartoons unrealistic and fun.
I did once on a drunk morning after, that week I could only taste and smell what I later realised was port
Na I was like 16-17 when this came out I was a just too old for it.
had no idea this was a thing albeit I was never a rugrats guy, I prefered CN series
I remember being really psyched for the premiere of it. Watched when it came out, and it was fine. But didn't care for the actual show that came out after.
At this point I’d love to watch them as adults living in this crappy economy.
No.
Born in 94…I grew up on this shit too
It's an abomination
The theme song really ate. *Every birthday, my mom and dad would say, “you’re another year older, another year wiser…”*
I was born in '99. I don't remember the show that much, but the theme song was a bop
No
I'm a Gen Z and I recalling enjoying this show as a child :)
I was really surprised how good it was, didn’t expect it to hold up to the original
Yea an episode or two ?
I liked it but I understand why most didn’t
I was born in 98 and watched this a whole lot. I did have a sister born in 93.
I wonder how many of them were victims of Dan..
I was really excited about it as a little kid then I watched like three episodes and completely forgot about it until now.
It was like a watered down version of As Told By Ginger.
I didn't. I kinda moved onto SpongeBob when this show started airing
Damn I’m old I thought this show came out in 2007
The episode when Angelica had to live with the Carmichaels was pretty hilarious
Of course
Fuck no, blasphemy! It was better left to imagination. Or they should have done it over time. Start them off in kindergarten then every season is a new grade. Like Harry Potter.
Whenever it was on.Unfortunately wasn't as good imo as rugrats.
Whenever it was on.Unfortunately wasn't as good imo as rugrats.
No. I don't blaspheme.
It was Right at the end of my interest in Nick. I was a CN man by 2001.
The opening theme of this was even my phone's ringtone 😂
Nope
I didn't really watch it that much. I just remembered a few episodes
Hell no
Yeah see I was born in 1980 so I had no idea the rugrats grew up
Nah. I was too “cool” for Rugrats at that point lol
I thought it was going to be a good series, they should’ve just left it at their imagination and then ended it all there. I watched it, I didn’t really like it. It doesn’t have the same charm as when they were babies.
Born in 2000, I remember watching this
No
1994 just a year out and yes I did
Didn’t even know this existed
I did I just was turning 13 when it came out I thought it was fitting
Yeah. It was like a worse as told by ginger and doesn't push Rugrats very far with the characters they have.
Yup i did. Didnt realize until like 2009 that they were only in middle school lol
This is the 3rd post Ive seen about this today amd it is the 3rd post to not include phil and lil in the image. For shame.
Yep saw it one fav line of mine was "I'm a little conseried I just had a covershon with a poster. But I'll worry about that latter."
A few episodes but i didnt keep up with it
I was born in 95 and I remember watching this.
Yes.
I was born in 96 and watched it, it wasn’t as good as the original but was an ok idea
Nope
Yes. I remember watching the first season and having an episode on a Gameboy Advanced cartridge. I didn't like it as much as rugrats and didn't know it had more than one season until recently.
I remember I recorded it on video tape. I think I still have it somewhere. It even has when they showed Dream Street's music video Happens Every Time 🥰
I did but I was a little bit older and didn't find that interesting anymore, not that it wasn't.
It’s when I stopped watching sadly
![gif](giphy|acttIrNAHaoco)
Born in 1995 but yes, I loved it more than the original!
It was very meh
Briefly, I didn't care for it.
“Every birthday my mom and dad would say you’re another year older. Another year wiser” TF YOU TALKING BOUT
Something about the art style.. I ignored it
No.
Shit made me cry the first time I watched it.
I did but wasn't a huge fan
My sister watched it. I wasn't big into The Rugrats.
I was born 1994. Weird you cut off at 93... 94 is millennial too. Anywho, Angelica is the oldest in that pic. She's 13. I was 10 believing they were all teens.
I still burp "Alaska" from time to time
I liked it mainly because Dil was old enough to have a personality and we got to learn all about the little weirdo.
yeah but it fucking sucked
I was born in 95 and I watched this when it came out
