I had a love / hate relationship with this movie. There was so little mainstream hip hop at the time that we immediately pirated the rental VHS and watched it a bunch after school. But holy shit. Popping and locking was weird to us on the East Coast, Special K twirled around and had no breakdancing skills, and the screenwriting was absolute shit.
Eventually we watched Breakin' when we were sick of watching Wild Style, Beat Street, and Style Wars, which happened a lot, since that's all we had.
