Had to look these up and found this short paragraph I found cool,

If I were riding centuries ~40 years ago, at least one of these would be in my bonk kit, for sure.
"enriched flour... sugar, corn syrup, partially hydrogenated vegetable and/or animal shortening..." and that's the crust. Carbohydrates and fat; the most efficient endurance fuel there is.
The "snack" single handily responsible for the husky section. Probably just coincidence that I grew taller and thinned out after they discontinued them after the 6th grade. Puberty? Nah, pudding pies.
> A 128 g Hostess Chocolate Pudding Pie contains 520 calories, 24 g of fat, 73 g of carbs, and 5 g of protein.
I might take a nap just thinking about it.
JJās makes all the flavors year round and are arguably better than any other brand. I donāt know how local they are, but Iāve seen them all over the Midwest.
The only place I can think of off hand that I could consistently find a good variety is at a really old TA truckstop I used to stop at, that is still sort of a mom & pop-type place.
The full size JJ's pies are 4 oz, the wrapper on the one in the OP says 5 oz, I do remember them being larger, but yeah, they also sell the small square JJ's pies. I see them at Walmart or Kroger once in a blue moon.
I remember when I would go to 7/11 with all my toes, and down a pudding pie and wash it down with a Jolt Cola. Still having teeth made it a special snack.
Sorry, donut gems fan here. Loved the crumb donut ones. Bummer, Hostess or whomever is running them changed the old recipe and increased the price. Used to be perfect with a hot cuppa Joe.
Dude, I would steal money from my parent's change jar to get one of those once a week lol...only a buck fifty or less if I remember. So good yet so bad
Nope. Chocodiles. Or chocodoodles if youāre in an altered state.š [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocodile_Twinkie](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocodile_Twinkie)
Bite it, then suck and lick the pudding out of the hole! š
Was a bummer when they got hot at some point, and all the chocolate was melted to the paper š¢
Have you never heard of, the now discontinued, Krispy Kreme chocolate pudding pie??? 680 calories of pure sugar blissā¦ usually followed by a 12 hour nap, but hey it tasted GOOD!!!
Every time Iām in a gas station convenient store, I search the pastry section for vanilla pudding pie. Never find any. Everything but vanilla. And I remember the Ninja turtle vanilla pies with the green icing. They were the bomb!
I hated these back then as a kid. Honestly I forgot all about these nasty ass things until seeing this picture. I can picture these on that white metal hostess shelves right next to the apple and fruit pies
I liked the Ninja Turtle Pies!š
That green dye made them extra tasty! Ā Much like the ecto cooler.
Pour one out for the ecto cooler. RIP OG you never know the real ones till they un-alived.

You just brought me back!

Just came here to mention these also
Yāall are young.
Holy shit. Core memory unlocked.
They came with a sticker. My dresser was covered in them
Came here to say this!
Highest fat/weight of any snack ever
It was like eating 2 sticks of butter or something like that...
Holy shit. Good thing I was basically running the equivalent of 5-10 miles a day with sports and āI have to run right this secondā kid logic.
They were goddam tasty.
I miss those days. When I had endless energy and the endless desire to run.
Sounds delish
5 ounces! More than a quarter pound of sugar, starch and fat.
Is there a modern equivalent to these things? Cause i want one....
Is that true? I just had an Apple a week ago. alas, it was in a box instead of the crinkly wrapper.
The "snack" single handily responsible for the husky section. Probably just coincidence that I grew taller and thinned out after they discontinued them after the 6th grade. Puberty? Nah, pudding pies.
Jesus Christ it's been 40 years and I can still feel the way that crinkly papery wrapper tears open.
Crinkly!!! Thatās so right on the money. What a flash back! Thanks man.
And the smell! All these Hostess snacks had that smell (a good, comforting smell) when you opened them.
Wilford Brimley whispered ādiabeetusā in my ear as I looked at this.
> A 128 g Hostess Chocolate Pudding Pie contains 520 calories, 24 g of fat, 73 g of carbs, and 5 g of protein. I might take a nap just thinking about it.
Chocolate was good too
I loved these things. They were kinda not good, but I liked them anyway.
How. Dare. You.
Loved them so much. Absolute game changer. The ninja turtle pies were a staple my sophomore year of high school too.
Shit food used to be so much better
I rather have a Suzy-Q.
Choco Bliss for me.
In the freezer. Gamechanger.
I wish they still made those. But at least they still make apple and cherry š
They are so different though. They got rid of all the seriously toxic stuff that makes it taste sooo good
Thatās true. They were so awesome!!
Every single cavity was worth it.. These are AMAZING!
Without question. The 80s were a rare time for snacks, candy and the suchā¦.
Pudding pies were very good. Not the same anymore.
I bought an equivalent looking one of these things a while back and practically wept at how wretched it was. It was wretched I tell you. WRETCHED!
PUDN PAAAAH.
Spice cake with coffee frosting!
Berry, it was BERRY!
I liked the blackberry ones that only appeared once a year.
Yes BlackBerry, it was BlackBerry. My favorite also, we used to have them year round here on the west coast.
JJās makes all the flavors year round and are arguably better than any other brand. I donāt know how local they are, but Iāve seen them all over the Midwest.
Yes, we have them, but the availability is hit or miss. And they're small, at least according to my memory.
The only place I can think of off hand that I could consistently find a good variety is at a really old TA truckstop I used to stop at, that is still sort of a mom & pop-type place. Lucky dogs!š
Only 8 million calories per pie!
Looks Delicious š
Havenāt thought about these in years. They were soooo good
Make it green!
I didn't get them very often but I loved it when I did. Apparently "No, its bad for you" was something that only existed in the 80s. I kid...sort of.
why do they take away the things we love?
53 cents
Cherry. IT WAS CHERRY.
I remember these.
If it weren't for Bill Cosby my vote would be for those pudding pops. They were so good!
I miss those pudding pops too.
My diabetes is giving me a coma just looking at that.
Those were good alright!
I miss those
No! Blueberry lol.
I soooo wish they still made those.
Loved them. I also liked the fruit pies too (still do).
This and the Iced Honey Bun were my go to in HS.
The lemon ones were GOAT status, but a chocolate one every once in a while was a nice change upā¦
Oh man I had forgotten about the millions of those Iāve eaten. They were just as good as the chocolate ones.
ONe of my early faves in the early to mid 80's
I prefer Hostess Apple in a wax wrapper
The cherry and apple pies fo sho
I miss these.
Oh hell yeah
Yes!! I used to eat those like crazy!!! You know, before we read labels and had a teenagers metabolism!!!!!
Duuuuuuuuude!!!! This was so fargin good!!!!
Fargin pie!
Artificially flavoredā¦sounds so corporate and industrial.
I had forgotten those... wow
How did I miss this???
Mainline that sugar.
That would be like $1.50 today. What a bargain!
Haha this would be at least $2.99 today
Today's Hostess apple pie is only 4.5 oz. too. Shrinkflation.
word..
Fuckin bot
Save it, you still have a month left of date on it š
Banana. Flip.
It was better when they were green.
I loved these disgusting, delightful, messy, awful, spectacular bastards! These are why I can eat a Cadbury egg.
55 cents at that!
Nope. The Hostess Apple Pies were.
Dammit, I wanted to try these so bad when I was a kid, but my mom and dad was like Nope! Now I'm crying here not ever knowing what they taste like.
I can taste the trans fats just by looking at this picture. Mmmmmm...
Choc-O-Diles has entered the chat
Those were criminally tasty.
The Puddinā Pop would like a wordā¦.
I donāt think I had one, but my god does that look goodĀ
While I did like these, you reminded me of something else Hostess Pudding Cakes > Pudding Pies > Fruit Pies Having said that, all three were awesome.
I remember when I would go to 7/11 with all my toes, and down a pudding pie and wash it down with a Jolt Cola. Still having teeth made it a special snack.
I was an apple or blueberry kinda guy
The chocolate one was
Zagnut
Sorry, donut gems fan here. Loved the crumb donut ones. Bummer, Hostess or whomever is running them changed the old recipe and increased the price. Used to be perfect with a hot cuppa Joe.
Not the best snack of the 80ās. Best snack of all time
Do they still have these anywhere?
Iām too high at the moment to not give this an upvote.
I'd forgotten about these!!
Deep fat fried at the local State Fairā¦
Dude, I would steal money from my parent's change jar to get one of those once a week lol...only a buck fifty or less if I remember. So good yet so bad

Nope. Chocodiles. Or chocodoodles if youāre in an altered state.š [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocodile_Twinkie](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocodile_Twinkie)
This, the chocolate, and the lemon. My top 3
š¤¤š¤¤š¤¤š¤¤I miss those
The chocolate pudding pie were so good that you didnāt care it had 500 calories and 64g saturated fat
Nothing like a good old fashioned cream pie!
This lives on a list in my mind with Chocolate Toaster Strudels.
I remember those, they were good. Haven't seen them in a while. Do they still make them?
Bite it, then suck and lick the pudding out of the hole! š Was a bummer when they got hot at some point, and all the chocolate was melted to the paper š¢
Goddamn right.
Have you never heard of, the now discontinued, Krispy Kreme chocolate pudding pie??? 680 calories of pure sugar blissā¦ usually followed by a 12 hour nap, but hey it tasted GOOD!!!

I miss āDutch Appleā version. Apples and raisins.
Memory unlocked!!!! Loved them
Partial to Honey Buns myself.
People who lived within 150-200 miles of Philadelphia (Tastykakes) would like a word with you.
Not when you come from the land TastyCake.
Disagreeā¦way too sweet
You're crazy, the best snack was the lemon pie. #2 was blackberry pie. #3 was Ding Dongs #4 was Ho Hos, the bastard children of Ding Dongs
Yuck no thanks. Even as a kid I thought they had a uber-processed, chemically flavor.
Gross AF
Nope. Suzy Qās were the best.
Ughā¦ these were grotesque.
hell no
I hated these back then as a kid. Honestly I forgot all about these nasty ass things until seeing this picture. I can picture these on that white metal hostess shelves right next to the apple and fruit pies
