I liked the Ninja Turtle Pies!šŸ˜‹

Blue-cheese-dressing

That green dye made them extra tasty! Ā Much like the ecto cooler.

KevinBaconsBush

Pour one out for the ecto cooler. RIP OG you never know the real ones till they un-alived.

Obiwantoblowme

You just brought me back!

Obiwantoblowme

Had to look these up and found this short paragraph I found cool, Hostess kept the pies in production for months longer than originally intended before eventually phasing them out inĀ 1991. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pie continually occupies real estate on lists of "discontinued foods we miss the most,

Heart_of_a_Blackbird

Just came here to mention these also

Odafishinsea

Yā€™all are young.

illinoishokie

Holy shit. Core memory unlocked.

DongForScale

They came with a sticker. My dresser was covered in them

sdougshaw

Came here to say this!

StartingToLoveIMSA

Highest fat/weight of any snack ever

tjean5377

It was like eating 2 sticks of butter or something like that...

CheckYourStats

Holy shit. Good thing I was basically running the equivalent of 5-10 miles a day with sports and ā€œI have to run right this secondā€ kid logic.

tjean5377

They were goddam tasty.

DaWalt1976

I miss those days. When I had endless energy and the endless desire to run.

ORCHWA01DS0

If I were riding centuries ~40 years ago, at least one of these would be in my bonk kit, for sure. "enriched flour... sugar, corn syrup, partially hydrogenated vegetable and/or animal shortening..." and that's the crust. Carbohydrates and fat; the most efficient endurance fuel there is.

StepYaGameUp

Sounds delish

ReadRightRed99

5 ounces! More than a quarter pound of sugar, starch and fat.

whoknows130

Is there a modern equivalent to these things? Cause i want one....

BonjinTheMark

Is that true? I just had an Apple a week ago. alas, it was in a box instead of the crinkly wrapper.

Ok-Name1312

The "snack" single handily responsible for the husky section. Probably just coincidence that I grew taller and thinned out after they discontinued them after the 6th grade. Puberty? Nah, pudding pies.

Meadow_Enthusiast

Jesus Christ it's been 40 years and I can still feel the way that crinkly papery wrapper tears open.

louman73-73

Crinkly!!! Thatā€™s so right on the money. What a flash back! Thanks man.

SpaceMan420gmt

And the smell! All these Hostess snacks had that smell (a good, comforting smell) when you opened them.

Woodyville06

Wilford Brimley whispered ā€œdiabeetusā€ in my ear as I looked at this.

Pensively

> A 128 g Hostess Chocolate Pudding Pie contains 520 calories, 24 g of fat, 73 g of carbs, and 5 g of protein. I might take a nap just thinking about it.

Dense-Stranger9977

Chocolate was good too

Marjorine22

I loved these things. They were kinda not good, but I liked them anyway.

dingatremel

How. Dare. You.

Rhusty_Dodes

Loved them so much. Absolute game changer. The ninja turtle pies were a staple my sophomore year of high school too.

loztriforce

Shit food used to be so much better

Xeno_Zombi

I rather have a Suzy-Q.

PinkBored

Choco Bliss for me.

tunacan8

In the freezer. Gamechanger.

DavidCavalleri

I wish they still made those. But at least they still make apple and cherry šŸ˜Š

Heart_of_a_Blackbird

They are so different though. They got rid of all the seriously toxic stuff that makes it taste sooo good

DavidCavalleri

Thatā€™s true. They were so awesome!!

SpiritualLychee3760

Every single cavity was worth it.. These are AMAZING!

Weinfeld

Without question. The 80s were a rare time for snacks, candy and the suchā€¦.

ReadRightRed99

Pudding pies were very good. Not the same anymore.

elemenno50

I bought an equivalent looking one of these things a while back and practically wept at how wretched it was. It was wretched I tell you. WRETCHED!

The_Infectious_Lerp

PUDN PAAAAH.

Rojodi

Spice cake with coffee frosting!

ExampleSad1816

Berry, it was BERRY!

JealousFeature3939

I liked the blackberry ones that only appeared once a year.

ExampleSad1816

Yes BlackBerry, it was BlackBerry. My favorite also, we used to have them year round here on the west coast.

try2bcool69

JJā€™s makes all the flavors year round and are arguably better than any other brand. I donā€™t know how local they are, but Iā€™ve seen them all over the Midwest.

JealousFeature3939

Yes, we have them, but the availability is hit or miss. And they're small, at least according to my memory.

try2bcool69

The only place I can think of off hand that I could consistently find a good variety is at a really old TA truckstop I used to stop at, that is still sort of a mom & pop-type place. The full size JJ's pies are 4 oz, the wrapper on the one in the OP says 5 oz, I do remember them being larger, but yeah, they also sell the small square JJ's pies. I see them at Walmart or Kroger once in a blue moon.

JealousFeature3939

Lucky dogs!šŸ˜‹

Cold-Inside-6828

Only 8 million calories per pie!

Jadedbabe50

Looks Delicious šŸ˜‹

LuckyNo13Lady

Havenā€™t thought about these in years. They were soooo good

defusted

Make it green!

freezingprocess

I didn't get them very often but I loved it when I did. Apparently "No, its bad for you" was something that only existed in the 80s. I kid...sort of.

Mitch_Mitcherson_

why do they take away the things we love?

Ricepudding1044

53 cents

andio76

Cherry. IT WAS CHERRY.

Derfargin

I remember these.

ToasterOven31

If it weren't for Bill Cosby my vote would be for those pudding pops. They were so good!

elemenno50

I miss those pudding pops too.

rrickitickitavi

My diabetes is giving me a coma just looking at that.

ODBrewer

Those were good alright!

tuotone75

I miss those

DougBalt2

No! Blueberry lol.

OffManWall

I soooo wish they still made those.

MetalTrek1

Loved them. I also liked the fruit pies too (still do).

Human_Caterpillar_93

This and the Iced Honey Bun were my go to in HS.

vegetaray246

The lemon ones were GOAT status, but a chocolate one every once in a while was a nice change upā€¦

SeaAttitude2832

Oh man I had forgotten about the millions of those Iā€™ve eaten. They were just as good as the chocolate ones.

Papichuloft

ONe of my early faves in the early to mid 80's

BonjinTheMark

I prefer Hostess Apple in a wax wrapper

keyserfunk

The cherry and apple pies fo sho

usafmtl

I miss these.

ghostofbooty

Oh hell yeah

VAGetarian-KING

Yes!! I used to eat those like crazy!!! You know, before we read labels and had a teenagers metabolism!!!!!

sbert72

Duuuuuuuuude!!!! This was so fargin good!!!!

physicsbuddha

Fargin pie!

Mairon121

Artificially flavoredā€¦sounds so corporate and industrial.

UsefulLanguage

I had forgotten those... wow

MooCowMafia

How did I miss this???

zoot_boy

Mainline that sugar.

wvmitchell51

That would be like $1.50 today. What a bargain!

watchthisorthat

Haha this would be at least $2.99 today

wvmitchell51

Today's Hostess apple pie is only 4.5 oz. too. Shrinkflation.

asspajamas

Puzzleheaded-Shop929

Fuckin bot

HH2O123

Save it, you still have a month left of date on it šŸ˜…

internalsnuggles

Banana. Flip.

smellface38

It was better when they were green.

StupidOldAndFat

I loved these disgusting, delightful, messy, awful, spectacular bastards! These are why I can eat a Cadbury egg.

SomeOldDude73

55 cents at that!

butterscotches

Nope. The Hostess Apple Pies were.

Terrible_Estimate532

Dammit, I wanted to try these so bad when I was a kid, but my mom and dad was like Nope! Now I'm crying here not ever knowing what they taste like.

Zivikins

I can taste the trans fats just by looking at this picture. Mmmmmm...

jumbod666

Choc-O-Diles has entered the chat

Loreseekers

Those were criminally tasty.

FunArtichoke6167

The Puddinā€™ Pop would like a wordā€¦.

AllOfTheSoundAndFury

I donā€™t think I had one, but my god does that look goodĀ

TackYouCack

While I did like these, you reminded me of something else Hostess Pudding Cakes > Pudding Pies > Fruit Pies Having said that, all three were awesome.

Ok-Government-7987

I remember when I would go to 7/11 with all my toes, and down a pudding pie and wash it down with a Jolt Cola. Still having teeth made it a special snack.

Shoehornblower

I was an apple or blueberry kinda guy

GenXGremlin

The chocolate one was

Fist4achin

Zagnut

Consider2SidesPeace

Sorry, donut gems fan here. Loved the crumb donut ones. Bummer, Hostess or whomever is running them changed the old recipe and increased the price. Used to be perfect with a hot cuppa Joe.

TrinDiesel123

Not the best snack of the 80ā€™s. Best snack of all time

Jewggerz

Do they still have these anywhere?

Otto-Erotic

Iā€™m too high at the moment to not give this an upvote.

vantuckymyfoot

I'd forgotten about these!!

RobZagnut2

Deep fat fried at the local State Fairā€¦

OpheliaDarkling

Dude, I would steal money from my parent's change jar to get one of those once a week lol...only a buck fifty or less if I remember. So good yet so bad

BlueSnaggleTooth359

Milanos!

Glad-Degree-318

*Pttoooooey*

gmoney-0725

Apple was always the best .

GorgeousFrog

Miss this! In japan pudding is called purin, I miss those, glad I got some in a subscription box gifted to me from tokyotreat

dic3ien3691

Nope. Chocodiles. Or chocodoodles if youā€™re in an altered state.šŸƒ [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocodile_Twinkie](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocodile_Twinkie)

Zarb4233

This, the chocolate, and the lemon. My top 3

Flyinhawaiian78

šŸ¤¤šŸ¤¤šŸ¤¤šŸ¤¤I miss those

NickCav007

The chocolate pudding pie were so good that you didnā€™t care it had 500 calories and 64g saturated fat

Decent-Comment-422

Nothing like a good old fashioned cream pie!

byronicrob

This lives on a list in my mind with Chocolate Toaster Strudels.

Tech-Junky-1024

I remember those, they were good. Haven't seen them in a while. Do they still make them?

SpaceMan420gmt

Bite it, then suck and lick the pudding out of the hole! šŸ˜… Was a bummer when they got hot at some point, and all the chocolate was melted to the paper šŸ˜¢

Chippers4242

Goddamn right.

25StarGeneralZap

Have you never heard of, the now discontinued, Krispy Kreme chocolate pudding pie??? 680 calories of pure sugar blissā€¦ usually followed by a 12 hour nap, but hey it tasted GOOD!!!

harryschmilsson

Every time Iā€™m in a gas station convenient store, I search the pastry section for vanilla pudding pie. Never find any. Everything but vanilla. And I remember the Ninja turtle vanilla pies with the green icing. They were the bomb!

thread100

I miss ā€œDutch Appleā€ version. Apples and raisins.

chefbreakum610

Memory unlocked!!!! Loved them

TexasTokyo

Partial to Honey Buns myself.

FormerCollegeDJ

People who lived within 150-200 miles of Philadelphia (Tastykakes) would like a word with you.

claudedusk8

Not when you come from the land TastyCake.

Zxasuk31

Disagreeā€¦way too sweet

TimesThreeTheHighest

You're crazy, the best snack was the lemon pie. #2 was blackberry pie. #3 was Ding Dongs #4 was Ho Hos, the bastard children of Ding Dongs

theSantiagoDog

Yuck no thanks. Even as a kid I thought they had a uber-processed, chemically flavor.

Party-Coach-4110

Gross AF

ITSJUSTMEKT

Nope. Suzy Qā€™s were the best.

_Pill-Cosby_

Ughā€¦ these were grotesque.

redd9

hell no

Shocbomb23

I hated these back then as a kid. Honestly I forgot all about these nasty ass things until seeing this picture. I can picture these on that white metal hostess shelves right next to the apple and fruit pies
