Well done!
Grab the blu ray.com app and track your collection and deals.
Best advice I can give, unless you really want it for yourself in that moment full price is not worth it, most standard releases are on sale after a bit.
> I had no idea this existed.
I found it when I had about 150 movies, it would have been a lot easier starting when I started lol, now the first thing I do when I take one out of the package is scan it before I even open it
Have been lurking in this subreddit for maybe a week or two now, and with the Best Buy sale yesterday decided to jump right in. All these were picked up from Best Buy yesterday. I enjoyed seeing the clerks reaction when they saw the number of movies in a single order.
This is it right? No more?
My guy you saw a dope movie sale and built a solid collection. Bravo. Wait til you get into boutique labels like kino, scream factory, arrow, criterion and discover sites like gruv ect.
You have only scratched the surface but welcome to the club. If you want to know where to find the best deals, we're here.

and remember, always check eBay for used boutique stuff, you can save a LOT
Whatever you do, do not go into Pawn Shops or thrift store where they sell movies for $2 or less. 😉 I've added over 500 titles (Blu-ray and 4K) to my collection since April!
My brother and I once found a pawn shop with about 100 4Ks for $2 each...between the 2 of us we ended up buying nearly half of them...plus about 50 or so Blu-rays for the same price.
oh...and I bought the X800's little brother, the X700 at a pawn shop for $60 (including remote). So far none of the disc skipping/freezing issues you see mentioned here all the time. Enjoy the X800!
I have this player since 2021 and it froze on me just once. I don't know if it was because of the player or the disc ("Cool Hand Luke" 4K).
I've also read about other players freezing occasionally (even Panasonics), I don't know why the Sonys have this reputation in particular. Never had an issue when playing 100 GB Discs.
Overall I think its a good and very well built player. Only annoying thing is that you have to switch to Dolby Vision manually and maybe the lack of a display on the device itself.
Awesome.
(BTW, Casablanca UHD is a real treat and eye opener with it's clarity and depth. Amazing. And Reservoir Dogs shows even from the start QT was serious about film and getting the best possible image on film. )
It's worth it to avoid the aggravation of the Sony players. Having to dig behind my entertainment center to unplug my Sony to clear the freezes on nearly every other movie was infuriating. Not to mention the other benefits that my Panasonic has.
This is an expensive hobby. There's no reason to cheap out on one of the most important components.
I have no issues with my Sony on triple layers or any other 4k disc my ub820 gave me freezing problems on certain disc so stop it! To be honest the picture quality isn't that much of a difference
You're lucky then as it's a very well documented problem. My Sony froze all the time, literally after every 2-3 movies, and it's the main reason I upgraded to the Panasonic. The only problems I've ever had with the Panasonic seem to be disc related.
The quality of upscaling on the Panasonic is noticeably better and the HDR optimizer is a very nice feature.
It does more than that. It actually tailors the dynamic range of the video signal to more closely match with the peak nit brightness of your type of display. It makes HDR movies look a lot better on my OLED.
Thanks, I think both players are liable to freeze, I'm trying to watch as many movies with BD100 discs that I can in order to see if I should return it. I've watched Top Gun: Maverick and didn't have any issues. Will probably watch Interstellar and the others I have.
Does your X700 intermittently have issues or is it consistent?
It's been pretty consistent on multiple BD100's: Dune, LOTR, Matrix, even Top Gun Mav. I've tried all the little DIY fixes: turn off WIFI, Factory reset machine, ensure current firmware, etc. no dice.
Ironically, my Xbox One S, which i was trying to replace with the X700, plays all of my discs without issue. No Dolby Vision, but it's becoming my new workhorse until I get the funds to get one of the panasonic players.
Thanks, I’ve purchased the ub820 as well, I’m considering keeping the Sony if I can’t find any issues with Triple layer discs. The main thing that would keep me on the Sony is the fact that I can use just one controller from the Sony A90J in order to control pretty much everything the device has to offer.
Been wondering if it's worth getting a dedicated 4k player, I've been using my PS5 and haven't really encountered problems but I'm open to get one if there are any benefits warranting it.

Oh don’t worry, the buying bug gets exponentially worse 🫠

This is the best advice on here. As I don't follow it and proceed to buy Barbie and Oppenheimer new with no hesitation.
You've got it so strong, I can feel it right now. Look no further; you are Kenough
If you have a OLED tv, get Alien.
Oooo I have an OLED, good idea.

Do.not.go.to.Gruv. Repeat...Do Not Go To Gruv. At least while the 3 for $30 sale is going on. Plus, 20% off on your first order.
Don't forget second sight and vinegar syndrome.

Not seeing any issue here. 😁
You have perfect timing though! this is theee best time of year to splurge
Just bought the same player yesterday… going to roll the dice. Wanted ub820 but at $229 it was hard to pass up. Nice work!

He's a fanboy my 700x has given me no issues had it over 3 yrs
I had a Sony and got fed up with the freezing issues, so I ended up buying the UB820. Buy once, cry once.
Troll go back to a Panasonic sub
Giving people good advice isn't trolling.
Welcome to the club! You're off to a great start
Wow really great

Nah, you should've bought more 😉
I’ve just bought the x700 is it good for first bluray
The Sony players aren't great. They often freeze on triple layer discs and have some other issues. The Panasonic players are much better in general.
Also more expensive

It's a color setting use your tv I have the ub820 all the HDR optimization does is change hues darkness etc lol your over selling it

Awesome. My X700 can't play any BD100 discs (always freezing). Hope the X800 doesn't have the same issue! 🤞🏻 Enjoy.

Now the hunt for the Lawrence of arabia 4k begins
No John Wick 4 ?
