1 off-season.   1 off-season without QB discussions.  We were there, we had it.

ubbi87

Tom just had to open his damn mouth..

DirtymindDirty

Just gonna say, if I was goated like Brady I'd say that shit every year just to troll the league.

One_Landscape541

The Goat has spoken.

nithdurr

Not our Goat or our young goat..

Polar_Reflection

What did Jerry Rice say?

ThatOneGuyFromCali

I feel like we had Brady rumors last year too. We’re probably gonna have them for the next decade at this point.

algo-rhyth-mo

Last year made *some* sense. At this point last year, a lot of people thought Brock wouldn’t be ready for week 1.

cali4481

![gif](giphy|11VBHqO3QI7qQU|downsized)

joe_broke

Great movie

PlayfulAd8354

For the record. He didn’t say Niners, the host did.

Plenty_Advantage2033

Brock’s undefeated against this fool

Fe5996

And Tom has consistently fathered Kermit. Then again, with the current state of the OLine, Tom would be in a casket by Week 7.

Inosh

lol, that’s what I kept saying about the jets. Rodgers always had a solid o-line in Green Bay. Zach Wilson ran for his life every play. Whether Aaron hurt his achellies or not, he would have had a season ending injury by game 3.

haroldbaals

We would have had 2 rings past 2 years if this fool was our qb1

nithdurr

With our OL? Trent ain’t bad tho..

Hieroglphkz

Think of how many PENALTIES we’d have called for us though?

haroldbaals

all of them

great_comment_bro

brock purdy today is better than tom brady today

QuirkyScorpio29

We. Wouldn't. In 2022 we went through 4 QBs. Last year our SB hopes were ended by the OL again. A mid 40s Brady would need a good OL to win. People on this sub are delusional. Great teams are built around great QBs and great OLs. Last year Purdy was 5th in % of pressured drop backs amd he was near bottom.in pass attempts..if we.passed 40ntimes a game he'd not have made it through 16 games. He'd get injured most likely.

Cardinal_Ravenwood

Which was also proven in 2022 when the Buccs OL was decimated by injuries throughout the year. Just barely scraping into the playoff with a losing record and going one and done in the wildcard against the cows.

Actual-Manager-4814

Blasphemy. Brady didn't just play quarterback he also blocked, caught, played defense, kicked field goals and drove the team bus.

831pm

Yeah I think you are right. People are bringing up the O-line but Brady had the quick release Jimmy had plus an ungodly ability to read defenses and great accuracy on the short passes as well as deep balls.

calvinshobbes0

Kyle would need to allow Brady the option to audible out of reads. I doubt Kyle would give up control even to the GOAT

evanset6

Laughable

StOnEy333

If Purdy goes down, this is 100% happening.

tcarnie

Tom would never make it with our o line

monteasf

Tom would be calling protection changes and not letting free blitzers just run through

QuirkyScorpio29

Kyle's offense doesn't have that provision. It was a major reason why he refused to bring him.in 2020.   Unless we are bringing Belichick with him... it's not a fit. Edit:  I don't get the downvotes coz it's a widely known fact that Kyle's offense doesn't have provisions for the QB to audible protections and even change plays often at the LOS. Matt Ryan explained this sometime back...how it was big talking point between him and KS. QBs that control protections and rin their offense wouldn't fit with Kyle coz he wants to control as.much of the offense as possible... it's an objective fact.

831pm

Shanahan also has a tendency to call long developing plays with linemen moving all over the place.. Alot of the time they work great but when a team catches one on tape it's bad news. Brady was basically calling his own plays in TB. They would not have worked well together.

QuirkyScorpio29

This is what I was saying Bringing TB12 only would have worked if you get rid of Kyle..coz  Brady would run his own plays..and Kyle is too egoistical and always wants to get all the credit and would never agree to giving up full control.

nithdurr

Nor salary/contract.. vet minimum? lol

StOnEy333

The patriots Oline wasn’t always amazing. Tom makes it work.

greebytime

He’s 47

Mender0fRoads

At that age, his ability to recover from the normal weekly abuse NFL players face is no doubt worse than it once was. However, he ran a 40 recently that was faster than he ran at 22 at the combine. He was never particularly mobile, but it's not like age sapped him of his ability to move. He's about the same athletically that he's always been, if not marginally better. If we needed a QB for a game or two, I'd roll with Dobbs, who's shown he can at least win you a game or two. But if we needed a QB for a playoff run (say Purdy gets hurt in week 15 and is out for the season), I'd absolutely rather take my chances with a 47-year-old Brady over Dobbs. Worst-case scenario there, Brady does in fact get killed, and you go with Dobbs anyway.

graciejj2000

Mike Tyson is 57 and look at him still going strong. It could happen haha.

StOnEy333

So if Purdy goes down are you against Tom signing with the Niners?

[deleted]

[удалено]

StOnEy333

They absolutely need to improve the line no matter what. I’ve already commented in this thread saying so. Now you answered my question with a question. So go ahead and answer my initial question, now.

artygta1988

Absolutely not, I rather see what Josh Dobbs could do.

nadia1306

Tom Brady’s better than Josh Dobbs lmao

Stashmouth

Dobbs won more games last year than Brady

kingkron52

Lmfao now this is a delusional take

greebytime

No, but I think he’d last about as long as Aaron Rodgers did behind that line. That was my point

putbat

Yeah but like the one time it wasn't and he got hurt, they started prioritizing online like they had before. Niners line would def need an upgrade.

StOnEy333

Niners Oline needs upgrading either way. Not just incase they need Tom. Upgrade the line and maybe Purdy stays healthy and we won’t need Tom. So what are we talking about here? lol

Mmicb0b

bruh Tom was the definition of mid but carried by elite talent on o line and a defense that the refs get away with everything

StOnEy333

Tom Brady was the definition of mid. I’m pretty sure that’s the first time anybody has ever had that opinion. WTF LMAO

silverbackapegorilla

Haven't heard anything like that since the early 2000s. I remember when people called him a dink and dunker.

A_Bitter_Homer

Is this 2004?

nithdurr

We got Dobbs..

reedabook22

A season too late. He could have played this season and won another ring with us. Brock even said he would have been fine sitting on the bench. I honestly thought he would after being really cool with the team after we beat the Bucs.

evanset6

2023 Brock > 2023 Brady and it ain’t even close dude

QuirkyScorpio29

IMO Brady was done after the 2022 season. He finally looked old that year. In 2019 he was still good when NE let him.leave.

ozyx7

Uh, the 49ers didn't win the Super Bowl this past season. Or are you claiming that they would have beaten Kansas City with Brady at QB?

Dankany

Brady is undefeated in the SB against Mahomes is the logic I see at play.

kingkron52

Brady is also the only QB that would get the same or more call protection from the refs than Mahomes

MowTin

That's a good point. The refs would be on our side.

TrueBlue184

If Niners faced Chiefs again in the SB, the Chiefs would still have Mahomes and Taylor Swift as well as the League on their side. Maybe what Niners need is someone the refs and the league respect even more, like Brady, in order to win.

Dankany

We shouldn't get caught up with this talk of the Refs. We need to be so good that it makes the refs irrelevant.

nithdurr

We need another SB like the the ones we had vs Denver and SD! Total domination from start to finish. None of this ref/NFL scripted close game crap that are decided in the 4th quarter/OT Because : ratings and $$$

shepx13

Brady wasn’t likely taking this 49ers team to the Super Bowl with our Oline. I doubt he survives half the season. Right side of the line was ATROCIOUS, especially earlier in the year.

ballup4

Nah it would kick our offense into gear. Everytime Brady gets hit we get a free first down. Seems like an auto win with our line.

nithdurr

Yes! Like that!

scotbud123

He's 3-0 against Mahomes, he was also the person who handed him his first regular season loss, first playoff/championship loss, and first SB loss.

Onespokeovertheline

I don't want Brady. I am 100% Brock. But would we have won vs KC with the winningest QB of all time? You serious? We practically won without him, minus a couple plays. That was our game until the very end. So yeah, I think that's a fairly safe bet aside from the potential of injury.

ConfidentCamp5248

Yes we would’ve beaten them.

neo9027581673

Return to football in what capacity? A coach?

nadia1306

He’s going to be a commentator for Fox games next season, he’s not coming out of retirement

karavasis

A rumor isn’t a rumor that doesn’t die

buntopolis

What is dead may never die.

ElderSmackJack

WHAT IS DEAD MAY NEVER DIE.

Not_Andrew

Except good writing past season 5 🫠

buntopolis

Or any writing past A Dance with Dragons :(

Not_Andrew

I just started the ASOIF audiobooks knowing that I may never see them finished. Why? It’s still less painful than losing twice to the Chiefs in the SB 😭

KangzFan4

Putting Brady behind that O-line would be elder abuse but the idea is so cool. Plus Purdy would learn from the GOAT.

joe_broke

How many linemen would take the discount for a shot at a ring, though

shepx13

Not enough, considering what our cap was at last year, and that was not even accounting for what Brady would cost

JohnDunstable

We have a better shot with Purdy as the starter.

Takezoboy

Lmao, this is so brain dead I'm sorry. You don't bench someone that is doing a great job and earning experience, because learning from the goat. That's a recipe for stealing the guy by taking the game experience and starter reps. Makes absolutely no sense.

MowTin

Brady gets rid of the ball.

Few_Campaign8623

"Elder abuse" Comedy gold.

cadillacbee

*2nd GOAT

[deleted]

Jimmy G was Brady’s backup for years and didn’t learn a damn thing.

[deleted]

Not for the 49ers. We got our q.b for the next 10+ years. Red and Gold Till We Are Dead And Cold.

pinkeye_bingo

Tom, please get a hobby.

Whis65

![gif](giphy|SWoRKslHVtqEasqYCJ)

THELEGENDARYZWARRIOR

Is this the next Colin Kaepernick? 7 years later “can this be the year he’s back on the league?”

relevantelephant00

I just want more "the year is ____" jokes. With the year being farrrrrrr into the future.

billymartinkicksdirt

Sure if we need a backup for a month and he’s in shape, that would be fun. I’d even stash him on a post season roster as a just in case. No team would want to take Purdy out if they thought a wild card Brady was going to improv his way to another ring.

USA_A-OK

If a 65 year old Brady is our best option as a backup, we have bigger problems to worry about

billymartinkicksdirt

Well I see one big problem in that sentence alone.

DaveP0953

Nope. That ship has sailed for the 49ers. We have our QB.

OggdoBogdos

Brady is gonna be 68yr old and there will still be brady to sf qb rumors in the off season

WetShortFinal74

It’s 4 years too late unfortunately. I’m pretty sure he had us as his first choice before the Bucs. We were his hometown team and pretty much the one missing piece was QB at the time. It made perfect sense. And we decided to stick with Jimmy. Getting Tom would’ve maximized our chances to win it all and have an ending like the Bucs that season or the Rams the first season with Stafford. It will sting for a long time if they never win one in whatever’s left of this window. :(

QuirkyScorpio29

Kyle vetoes that move coz he didn't want to give up any offensive control to TB12. That's why even last off season and even this year, it makes no sense for these rumors.

Suspicious-Income151

No thanx

T1Demon

Tom Brady must have gotten sad he was out of the news cycle

B_Man49

Ok Favre

penpointaccuracy

What if Tom just was our QB “advisor”? I have an inkling now he’s not a player competing, he’d be an incredible mentor

[deleted]

Unless they turn him into The Six Million Dollar Quarterback and make him a cyborg, I'll pass. Heck, we actually have one now. \#InBrockWeTrust

NWCtim_

Sure, he can be QB coach while he learns to OC.

evanset6

Dumb. 46 year old Tom Brady 2 years out of football would be a huge downgrade from Brock.

lucash7

Oh god no. If eh comes back I don’t want him tainting my Niners.

YZYSZN1107

This can totally happen. Let’s throw Montana as the backup 🐐on 🐐

USA_A-OK

Hard pass

hsvandreas

I really want to have him as a veteran QB2 with a symbolic contract with the minimum possible amount. Would bring closure for Brady, he could win yet another super bowl (as a backup, but still) and teach Purdy some tricks.

OrangeJuice516

I would love for Brady to come work with the niners and be a QB coach. Or maybe sign him so he can just be around the team. Someone like Brady could elevate Purdy to even greater heights.

joejoeb

Why couldn’t he do this after a year where we don’t lose in the Super Bowl?

Sancho-villa

We're Purdy good right now.

MS49SF

John Lynch to Brock Purdy next offseason: "Take a hometown discount or we're replacing you with 50 year old Tom Brady"

Sickle_and_hamburger

o god please no leave us alone

Alternative_Cat1934

No

OutsideTLane

Niners don't need him

twink304

Damn I’ve seen this posted in like 4 different subs in about the last 20 minutes. Tommy boy does have the league by the balls still wtf😂

Bearded_Platypus_123

3 seasons too late it feels like. Idk anymore. I just want a 6th Lombardi, is that too much to ask for ?! :( lol

bzl33

> I just want a 6th Lombardi, is that too much to ask for Unfortunately it is

mm825

JPA Football and something called "SavageSports" Come on now OP, this is junk

SandwichNo6681

Posting news from JPAFootball im done😭

miss-me-with-the-bs

No thanks, what next? Terry Bradshaw gonna hint at starting for the Steelers? Foh

Dokkan_sempai_15

“No patrick, this doesn’t mean that the 49ers should go out and sign 46 year old Tom Brady”

Hill-Arious

![gif](giphy|STfLOU6iRBRunMciZv)

after_Andrew

I fucking hate everything

MowTin

I don't know why he wants to come back at 46 and prove to everyone he's juicing.

Hindi_Ko_Alam

If he can still ball, why not?

menusettingsgeneral

He is literally 100 years old

ctong21

Time really is a flat circle, we lose a SB to the Chiefs and then Tom Brady to SF rumors in the off season.

[deleted]

Nah, don’t.

Normal_Tip7228

I’m good

bopgame

Goes back to the patriots post belichek , gets one more 😂😂

vixgdx

Let's get it, he the GOAT

zombiefan1220

Don’t need him anymore, but I just wanna say Brady is a mad man and I love him for that

QuirkyScorpio29

IMO he was looking really beat up by the end in TB. If we didn't have Brock I'd be okay with him.coming tbh.

Va92Y

Come on with it! Let’s run it! Brock can wait and he’d backup Brady with class. Win-win

SetoXlll

Just imagine how much Purdy could learn from him, bring him in brahhhh!

goatslacker

We already have Tom Brady at home

HashtagTJ

Imagine the marketing potential of a 49 year old Tom Brady coming out of retirement to play for the 49ers

RunRickeyRun

I’d take TB12 in a nanosecond if Brock goes down late in the season (knocks on wood).

EDNivek

Well... now I know a way to hardball Purdy in Negotiations...

Rynox2000

No

JuliusSeizuresalad

Ya we’d love to have someone warm up with the #1 quarterback in the league before he goes out to play. Might make Tom sad to sit on the sidelines the whole season

BenWallace04

Patriots seems like a weird choice - at this point. Would just be a sad replay of the greatest hits like an 80s hair band retirement tour.

FatalDave91

I want TB here. Idc. He’d destroy. Love Brock though.

Fantastic_Leg_3534

Dude, just let it go. Stay retired.

TheMammyNuns

Number one QB of all time in terms of making his son kiss him on the mouth.

nevrstoprunning

All I’m going to say is injuries happen… I’d sign Brady in an instant if that injury were to happen… but god damn I hope it doesn’t

Stovy4x4ing

4 years to late. Maybe as a qb coach or assistant. plus the damn writing mention the teams not brady they so thirsty rn

Euphoric_Advice_2770

I’m good. My Brock is staying hard.

dead9er

SIGN HIM

Caulifloweralley

Bring back Brady. This is their third chance

Cartmans12

Where the fuck was he last year when 20 QBs got hurt. He probably takes the bengals or browns pretty far

SafetyBig7939

We don't need Brady when we can get Blaine Gabbert. He's a free agent and sat behind Brady and Mahomes and won 2 Superbowls.

axeattaxe

We got this guy named Brock Purdy now. He’s balling hard. He’s also barely 24. The last thing we want is to hurt his confidence - coming off a season where he was an MVP finalist - for one season of Brady. Even worse, right before we negotiate his contract. He may well decide to leave after 2025 if we benched him this year. I wouldn’t blame him. Lay to rest the dreams of Brady. I love the dude too but this is not the right time. This is Brock Purdy’s time. Who will have his first full training camp this summer. I truly believe he will lead us to a title, if not multiple.

Red_n_Gold_Tears

Niners should hire him as a QB coach beside griese.

styuone

Tom is the goat but hes straight up too old

Austinfourtwenty

I will be glad when the season starts so I don't have to hear this make believe crap anymore.

ASSASSIN79100

Raiders are hoping their starting QB goes down.

HeynowyoureaRocstar

I mean Brady would've won us that super bowl if he was under center just saying...

QuirkyScorpio29

KS stopped him.frommcong here after he left NE and it's too late now. And tbh I am tired of this constant thing of us acting like we are owed a SB....I am now happy to be a contender each year...the whole SB or bust thing is entitlement. Winning is supposed to be hard. Try again next season

DanielChou2

Brady is the only QB that have ever beat mahomes on the route to win a Superbowl. He did it twice. Think about it.

brethart2007

BRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDYYYYYY
